    If the outer skin piece goes as smooth as that inner piece, looks like it will be a cinch! Nice work Phillip! Cool gift from Brian too, gotta love that! Have a great weekend Phillip!

      Thanks, I appreciate the comments. I feel like the outer piece will go fairly well, but we will see. And yes, it was real nice of Brian to send that. I definitely appreciate it.

      I did! Thanks! It's strange though, views are down on my latest video, but subscriber counts are rising. The videos I did on the 57 Chevy seem to be where the channel growth is coming from. In almost two weeks, only 368 subscribers watched my last video. I'm not complaining, I'm thankful! I'm just going to keep plugging away at making videos as I can, and see what happens. Folks probably want me to stop talking, and get back to work HAHA!

    Thank you for working on the door it reminded me I needed to order new door bottoms. Do You have any suggestions on where to get them . Thanks again for making the videos I always appreciate them 😊

      I purchased my panels from Howell's sheet metal, but I cant say if they are the best or not. I have ordered other parts for my Model A from Mike's Afordable, Snyder's, Bert's, and Smith and Jones, and I've been pleased with my experience with all those vendors. I wish I could make a recommendation, but I have never compared these panels from a vendor other than Howell's. Thanks for watching!

    Hi Phillip. Nice progress on the model A door. Are you going to MIG weld the outer skin on? Just wondering. I've been MIG welding the sheet metal repairs I've been doing on my project truck but am curious if there would be less grinding and cleanup work if I were to TIG weld it instead. Thanks!

    • @phillipshotrodgarage
      @phillipshotrodgarage  7 месяцев назад +1

      I think there are some advantages to TIG welding. The most obvious advantage is the weld is softer than a MIG weld and is a lot easier to hammer out when done. A MIG weld is harder to get perfectly flat and blended in with the panel because the weld is hard. Hammer too much and the panel will crack beside the weld. With that being said, I’ll likely MIG weld all this because I’m not really that good with a TIG. I’ve not practiced much lately and this is a big area. I feel like I can control the heat better using the method I’m most comfortable with. I won’t need to completely hide the seam, because there will be body filler on the panel anyway. So MIG it is for me, most likely.
