This is a helpful PSA from us to let you know that PSN is currently down.
According to Downdetector, PSN has been suffering from an outage since at least 3pm PST/6pm EST. The PlayStation Network Service page also shows that all services, from sing-in to gaming to the PlayStation Store are all down.
It's unclear when services will resume for PSN, but the outage means that this weekend begins without access to some of your favorite games including Marvel Rivals, Call of Duty, Fortnite, and more.
We'll have an update for when services resume. In the meantime, no other platforms are reporting outages so it appears specific to PSN.

Those of us who pay to play online through PS are getting ripped off, they jack up PS+ prices and yet no reliable service conditions. Absolutely pathetic!

I work in the federal area in devops and I’d be fired immediately if my apps go down for more than 5 mins. This is crazy
it’s been down since 5 pm central time , their website didn’t acknowledge that until like 7 pm central time… so basically that page is not reliable either
Are your apps games? People need to take the night off. Gaming should not be this big of a priority. All online services have outages. I manage my companies O365 and Azure tenant. Both have almost daily outages to some feature or function of their offerings.

Now is a good time to report Sony to the FTC for their practice of forcing gamers to purchase PS+ in order to access things they purchased from third parties (internet service provider/game developers). It is illegal to withhold property or access to property/licenses/services for monetary gain but not enough people have reported the practice to the FTC for them to look into it. It is extortion/conversion and it is unlawful. Report them.
Yep bought elder scrolls a while ago and went back to play and couldn’t without some premium membership. My husband got it to play something else but now I can’t play even tho I’ve paid twice due to this network thing. Crazy

You don't need a disk to play a digital game, it's literally saved to your hard drive. It's only this way cause they want you to pay for psn. Its ridiculous but has nothing to do with digital games.

They can't afford to have the server down 30 days they would get sued by all games that lean to micro transactions and game retention via online live service. This is not ten years ago this will get them in deep water.

This is why I buy my games and don't rely on subscription services. People keep saying "they give you free games", but if you're paying monthly, the games aren't actually free. Once you stop paying for the service, the games get locked up tighter than clenched cheeks at a prison. Right now, if you have ps plus, they are stealing money from you and are probably not even going to compensate people for their time offline. Oh they'll give us a free weekend of play. But what does that do for people who have a ps plus subscription? Do yourselves a favor, buy your games. Don't rely on Sony's crappy sub service.
If its down a day, fair compensation is literally $.06-$.67... use your head

I’m beyond ticked off. Because of this, I’ve had to resort to doing BS to pass the time. I walked my dog, drove to get my kids from school in the snow, helped them with homework, fed AND bathed them, went to my daughter’s basketball game, had a whole 1 hour phone conversation with my grandmother, cooked dinner, cleaned the house and made love to my wife all in one day just because PSN decided to be down. Refund? 24 hours is at MOST a $.60 refund.

PSN has always been the least reliable platform. I literally switched to Xbox in 2011 because PSN got hacked and shut down for a whole month with millions of accounts information stolen
It sounds more to me that they're being hacked again and before they allow access to more data or give them time to crawl deeper, they just shut the network down.

It's weird how the store is up on PS5, working just fine, but the games aren't. I console share so games are down automatically for me if there are any internet or PSN issues unfortunately. Seems like it doesn't matter though in this case either way.
Keeping the store up is clearly one of their biggest priorities, cos they gotta get paid! They don't care about the consumers. A big greedy company like Sony can never get enough of your money. It's amazing how they get away with making people pay to play online

Just popped in a physical single player game and it’s working fine!!! Let this be a lesson to people by your video games physically all single player games should be playable even when the servers aren’t online.

I just turn in my console. I was instructed to do a system software update. Which I did. PSN is still down for maintenance. All my digital games appear to be accessible.
So, they seem to be on top of the problem. Not a big deal in my opinion.

I know people who have kids and only have so much gaming time get home from work and just want their shit to work consistently. I get that it’s an inconvenience. But it’s still a First World problem. Hopefully, thing will be up and running soon.

My biggest issue with PSN is the way gamesharing has changed. I should be able to play any of my offline games on any playstation my account is on. Its ridiculous.

Yup. Got the Arkveld exhausted last night. Watched a video late night and saw that I needed to press the focus L2 and R1 move on the Arkveld chains after it did it's supermove hot white to red coloured Jazz hand chains wiggling upright in the air and hitting a chain right after with the focus move causes it to topple over. Also I didn't realize that right after this move the chains are it's main weak point. Shock traps work on it so I think if I can craft a few tranq bombs I could capture it. Was not weak enough for the skull since I didn't know this vital knowledge. Felt like me trying Beta Velkana solo without knowing how to use the clutch claws. Beat Maglamalo and Melzeno SOLO in the switch rise and sunbreak demos. Maglo was a BIZNITCH 40 hours of that crap.... Melzeno was easier and I didn't buy Rise until afterwards. Hope something gets fixed tomorrow or until the next Beta 2 drop. After not getting good enough to SOLO or even beat Neirgigante I needed to get better. Duel Valkana but didn't know the rock head smash on a wall clutch claw move. This time I needed knowledge. The topple counter. Hope this helps. Also Arkveld had like a generous 5 carts. Saw someone beat it and kill it with carting 3 times. Sounds generous. Those Switch demos I carted twice (Melzeno second death was super dumb on my part).

These companies greed allow for this type of situations to happen, Always online games stance should just cease to exist, this way only multiplayer would be affected.
(Of course that wont fix anything if a game is exclusively a multiplayer experience, thats a no-brainer)
I found out gt7 can’t be played offline after I just bought it 2 days ago. 😂 it’s very very annoying I was really liking the game.
