Cops Tased and Arrested Deaf Driver for Not Following Orders

- A routine traffic stop turned physical after police failed to recognize that a driver they pulled over was deaf. 26-year-old Brady Mistic got out of his car when police pulled him over, but instead of being met with compassion, the cops tased him and threw him to the ground for failing to comply with orders he could not hear. He says he was beaten during the incident and emotionally disturbed. He ended up spending four months in jail as a result, and charges were later dropped.
So the charges were dropped after he spent 4 months in jail.... Shouldn't he be sueing? Technically false imprisonment
I hope he does

It’s common knowledge and common sense that you should stay in your vehicle on a traffic stop.
The def person should have stayed in the car, which is common sense, and signed that he was def out the window. If your def you need to learn how to communicate with the public calmly. There's a lot of psychos out there that cops deal with. If you get out of your car during a traffic stop, of course they will consider that a threat.

@@unoriginalegg9899 Sigh, I want to see where you’re coming from and I understand you’re trying to be fair and see the situation for what it is but I think it’s clear he was disoriented in that moment and that he wasn’t sure what to do, you can imagine if you were deaf your other senses might be heightened as a result, explaining the bright lights directly in front of him for an extended length of time being an issue. Perhaps if they had simply looked up his license plate and seen that he was deaf they wouldn’t have tased and beat this young man and put him through torture! That’s doing your damn job! He had no weapon and was not making any threatening gestures, all he did was simply not respond to receive that sort of brutality which extended to four months in a jail cell.
Ask yourself if this was your own family member or close friend if you’d be satisfied with the treatment they received.
In not just my opinion but the opinion of the actual law, I’m pretty sure you can’t just go and beat a man for nothing. Especially a disabled man at that in a professional setting. The excessive force was completely unnecessary and so was the jail sentence. This is absolutely ludicrous and they should be punished and this young man as well as his family who was probably worried sick about him should receive compensation. I can’t imagine what they all must have gone through. This is an absolute tragedy that needs to be brought to justice.
Police departments hire bullies that barely graduated. Thry give them less than a year of "training". It's inevitable that things like this will happen.

Charges dropped after sitting 4 months in jail? America is a terrifying place.
How was the behavior from Officers deemed "appropriate"??? No questions, no concern for the man at all. Just rush him, tase him, maybe ask questions later in order to cover their butts. Officers never apologize. This sucks and IS NOT NORMAL
That seems not a hipacritical statement saying that it's not normal and yet they always do these things?
It's wild how in court you're innocent until proven guilty, but a cop can just think you're guilty automatically by how you look or walk.

He hopped out of his way and moved towards officers. How were they supposed to know right off the bat he's not a threat, that he doesn't have a knife, and that he's not trying to fight them. Look at it from their perspective, put yourself in their shoes. That is NOT a normal reaction. He should've stayed in his car, deaf or not, that is what you do. You don't get out. Their actions were 100% appropriate.
Those officers deserve to be hit by a bus on the side of the freeway
“The charges against him were dropped” he still spent 4 months in jail…..
Secondly “the police department reviewed the “incident” and found the officers actions to be appropriate”
Shocker that they sided with themselves when investigating themselves! 😱😱 They were in the wrong here and should be charged themselves
I have a feeling if he wasn’t white, protests and media would be all over this and then the police would come to a different outcome.
How were they in the wrong? They get shot by people who exit their cars they're not gonna wait 10 minutes to find out he's deaf. You don't exit your car period, everyone knows that.
Exactly!
@@josephcooper171 cops get shot at a lot less than you think. Almost all cops retire without ever having to pull their gun. Talk to some retired cops...its not as dangerous a job as most ignorant people believe.

4 months in jail for that? Police actions were inappropriate.
What part of a deaf man standing still and being attacked by two high school rejects equates to assaulting an officer? They’re lucky nobody was around to watch them do that. Cop or not you’re getting your ass beat for that kind of blatant disrespect and ignorance.
In what world does this happen? The internet is brimming with footage of police acting inappropriately and being unnecessarily violent. How often do you see bystanders physically intervene against THEM? Hardly ever.

He is old enough to know that you stay in your car when pulled over. Being deaf has nothing to do with it.
He must have been charged with assault on a police officer because they needed to charge him with something significant in order for the cops to save face
They fact they charged him with anything baffles me.4 months is ridiculous! They have no human empathy. Shame on them!

This is disturbing on so many levels, but especially when the female cope said hands behind your back or im ganna tase you, and the male cop immediately said tase him without even hiving him a chance to do what you asked even if he wasnt deaf. I have no problem with him being tased or even arrested.
I have a BIG problem with him going to jail for 4 months.
He could also have undiagnosed mental health problems.
Not everyone knows the proper ways to interact with the police.
I understand that he seemed like a threat to them but I believe anger management classes, community service, training on how to interact with the police and informing him about proper resources like the card the woman was holding was the best way to handle this situation NOT JAIL TIME.
But I'm sure he couldn't afford proper legal representation.
It's the jail time I actually have a problem with. This video actually brought tears to my eyes.
I was born and raised in Nigerian, Africa and here people use their horns a lot to signal when driving and I'm always complaining that it will be dangerous for deaf people to drive in my country because drivers assume every other driver can hear them when they press their horns.
