Harris Henbest needs to be reevaluated. I was at the Fort Lauderdale airport last week and I just got a Ticket for being parked illegally in terminal 4 by officer Harris Henbest. However, I was never given a verbal warning. I had an officer come up to me and tell me that I needed to move and I told him yes sir I will move right now once these cars get out of my way. I then moved and went around the whole airport just to get back to terminal 4. I then received a ticket a week later in the mail. I don’t even know if it is Harris Henbest. Because he does not look like the officer that I encountered. However, I want justice! I support the justice system and don’t want this to happen to anyone else. 80$ may not be big to some people. And mind you, the Chief didn't fire that criminal cop for the offense, he fired him for the embarrassment that it caused. In the end, though, he still protected the Criminal Cop, by not arresting and charging him with the Crimes he committed. @@scottbenzing1361 While frustrating, there is a certain amount of lenience we must allow law enforcement when it comes to the use of force if we want it to properly function in society. For me personally, this comes down to intent.
We have no shortage of situations where an officer has no right to detain a person, and simply abuses the power of the state to hurt others. This is not one of those cases.
In this incident, a legal arrest was made as he did have valid warrants--5 of them in fact. The issue is in the use of force as it feels like the taser was used in an attempt to force compliance rather than fear of harm.
I think resisting without violence is a charge that can be fought in court since citizens have no obligation to assist officers in the course of their duties, but stands as an at least reasonable charge(though whether the charge itself should exist is another matter).
Since there is no law against excessive force, and assault by police officers in the course of their duties can't exist while allowing them the power to apprehend criminals, there was nothing for the chief to charge the officer with. That said, I think Mr. Grant has a case for it, as excessive force is a violation of the fourth amendment--but again that would be a civil suit against the town and police department.

He was partly correct, but as I learned to think for myself I saw things that have convinced me that no....."most" cops are not "good people." Some are. But many, many more are narcissistic, egotistical, power-hungry assholes who do the job NOT to "serve and protect" but to wage war against civilians, who they regard as enemies and sources of revenue. I have at least a dozen experiences that support this sad, pathetic reality. I have absolutely ZERO respect for the American law enforcement system at large.
