When Officers are fired for wrongdoing, their names should be placed in a national database for all law enforcement and EMS and shown as "DO NOT HIRE." This can save lives and future litigation.
A database certainly sounds necessary, however you can easily find out the past history of an officers misconduct by doing some digging. It's not very difficult to do. It's the responsibility for Law Enforcement Departments across the Country to ensure that they are not hiring anyone with a past history of misconduct. We as citizens have got to do better holding these Departments accountable for how they police their own.
@@DLewisADVentures Exactly why we need a DO NOT HIRE list. Should be a free public access site. Officers might think twice before they act. All about accountability.

That seems to be what happened at his previous job at Calhoun County police dept., where he was dismissed for repeated bad behaviour in the K-9 unit. In his report, the CO wrote that they had six meetings to discuss his behaviour.
Cameras have been showing police misconduct for decades now….and yet in too many cases they still walk with barely a slap on the wrist. Meanwhile, civilians continue to be assaulted and killed by these same unaccountable cops.

That glare she gave him while digging out her cards was perfect. Glad there’s good officers and departments out there. Another great example of why body cameras are needed.
It’s always body language with people in comment sections. Body language this, body language that. It’s great to see so many body language analysts in the comments.
The same reason people will claim they're abused all the time despite most being recorded via the same cams provoking the cops. Officer Dukes is rare. Most cops have the self awareness to know they're being recorded. But some like Dukes are obviously arrogant assholes. Turns out, vast majority of the criminal element are also arrogant assholes - else they wouldn't be criminals in the first place.

The way she looked at that now fired officer in that moment tells the whole story. I'm going out on a limb but I don't think that was the first time she had a problem in how that guy performed his job. She certainly was not impressed at that moment
My Conjecture; this former officer more than likely had been written up 2-3 times, a known bully, had civilian complaints and he remained with the department not because the allegations were unproven, but because of who he knows and who covered for him (a relative in command staff or city council). This was the last misconduct where the protection he had are no longer there, he knew then and there, he was fuc*ed and rightly so. Note how quickly two supervisors arrived on scene and it was most likely the female corporal who made the call, she had to, BWC already capped his conduct. They knew he was a liability, they got him red handed and finally ere able to shit can his ass.
Yet they tolerated him regardless and likely gave him too many chances to not be a shit bag. That's the story with bad cops in every department. They basically have to at least almost kill someone on camera before being called out. The "good cops" that tolerated this fool are as much to blame.
@@nbk9372 When it reaches this conclusion, there should be several third party investigations into all those times his conduct was overlooked due to connections and all involved in the decision to keep him should face charges.
I think it’s unfair to say “most people distrust police”. I believe the vast majority of Americans understand the inherent dangers of being a LEO but also grasps the idea that there are bad apples. I would also say the vast majority of LEOs are simply trying to do their jobs to the best of their abilities in a growing liberal land filled with hatred directed straight at the LEO organization.

@@Tempcore_ The primary difference between him and the other officers here is that he was flat out lying - whether he carries them or not, they're given cards. He started to show levels of frustration after that too, notice how he starts waving his hands around his camera. The sad thing is he's thinking the whole ordeal is BS but it's not. The cop behind her also had a WTF look on his face when the Sargent corrected him and her eyes told him everything he needed to know about how the rest of his week was gonna go.
She used telepathy at that moment. If you have the power, you know exactly what she said to the man. Relayed all the information. You can almost hear the guilty officer gasp slightly on the bodycam. He know he fucked up.

That female officer was looking at him like “are you serious?” when he said he didn’t have a card. good on her for holding him accountable. the more we do this, the more we can trust the police again. right now there’s too many officer Dukes out here
Its stuff like this that weeds them out though, I'm noticing in my local community we are seeing alot of dukes silently prosecuted and removed from service. We had a pretty questionable series of events here involving a police officer and now they're really cracking down on who stays, who goes, and they're being much more firm about sticking to protocol. One officer tugged the wrong thread, and now the whole cloth of corruption is unraveling.
The supervisor instantly knew this officer was in the wrong. See how they pull themselves off to the side of the car to talk and officer dukes immediately followed them to try to explain his actions!
@A Search Warrant For Google HQ Spot on! This could've been any cop, of any race, this is a police officer who failed to uphold his duty to protect and serve! This could've been a simple conversation between the alleged suspects and the police officer.

I love when "Julien" asks him for a business card and he lies saying they aren't issued any, just assuming his fellow officers would have his back.... And then the female officer immediately throws him under the bus, that was amazing and I bet it made him anxious af.
Absolutely. What's interesting though, is if you watch the blonde officer next to her... Were it just her and Dukes, I really feel like she'd have had his back and not challenged the claim, but once the Sergeant reaches for her card, the blonde officer pulls hers out. There's one glaringly obvious reason for that, imo. You can see the Sergeant looking straight at Dukes like "you are talking so much shit, and you are in so much trouble" 😂
She was clearly watching her sergeant going for hers and offered one of her own when it looked like she was having trouble. Idk, I just think the bar for corruption and racism sits a bit higher than "didn't react with her own card in a Planck Time".
@Brandon Ice Absolutely. You can tell by the way he began to nervously move his hands around after the other officer produced the card. He knew from that moment he was doomed.
It did seem like it took a minute for the other officers to catch the bad cop, but I did love how the cop was scared because the guy wouldn't stop screaming about his head. The louder the guy got, the more scared the cop got. You could feel the officer's fear. It was beautiful. Good thing the guy was loud about his head wound. No doubt the cop would have gotten away with it if the guy didn't keep speaking up about his head.
I remember how hard police unions fought against wearing body cams. I wonder why. I mean according to the police, “If you’re not doing anything wrong, you shouldn’t mind us looking.”
They’re still allowed to cute it off for “privacy” concerns and also face no consequences for going an entire shift with it “accidentally” unplugged, especially during an incident.

I know it's an old video, but I love how the officers who arrived later at the scene were so cautious towards the guy (can't call him officer) who put those two gentlemen on the ground.
It continually amazes me how cops don’t understand that hysterically screaming commands while pointing a gun at people does not make them comply; it makes them confused, which generally results in freezing.
It gets people to comply depending on the context. If I'm in the process of robbing a bank, then I wouldn't be confused about the cops response, and I would comply. In this context though I agree it would be confusing.
@Tysto Yes, this is a very good point and one that I had not considered. I suppose we can compare it to the role of a drill sergeant yelling at the new recruits in boot camp - the volume and quick commands are meant to confuse, panic and force an oppressive submission. I see your point about the panic and commotion causing them to freeze up. Still, if an officer points a gun at me and tells me to hit the ground, I don't think he would have to tell me twice. I'd comply immediately and ask questions later because I am not about to be killed simply for not obeying a cop's command the first time around. This is the only credit I will give the officer - he did tell these men multiple times to get on the ground - I believe he even said to get all the way on the ground.
At the same time, it would trigger one of the -two- three response: Flight, Fight, and Freeze. Most of the time, they would Freeze, but there are case where some would Flee the case and other that would immediately do something that seems like a Threat.
Nothing at all confusing about "get on the ground." This stuff happens when people fail to obey lawful commands given by police. If a cop says get on the ground, DO IT. OBEY LAWFUL COMMANDS FROM LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS. PERIOD.
I am a black woman and an advocate for the elderly. I don't see this guy as purely a bad cop. He erred and it is terrible that he kicked that poor old man. My mother was rough handled by a cop so I know the rage his family must feel.

My idea is cops should be forced to carry a sort of national malpractice insurance that covers illegal activity. This insurance will pay claimants, not the taxpayers. If they're dirty and their insurance has to pay out, their premiums will go up, and they won't be able to make a living and will remove themselves from all police forces, instead of being shuffled around to another precinct like a Catholic priest. Citizens should NOT be paying these claims

The cops that behave this way are the ones that should have never been given a badge, should have never been issued a gun, and should have had their applications thrown in the trash immediately upon receipt. Unfortunately, it’s easy to game the system and that means you have sickos with an axe to grind - desperate for a shred of power because they have a chip on their shoulder - applying to be cops and actually getting the job. Maybe they were bullied, maybe they feel inadequate. No matter what the reasoning is for their disgusting behavior, abuse of power, and use of excessive force, they deserve to be held accountable IMMEDIATELY and extensively. Not just a slap on the wrist. What I am picking up on from this video is that this officer had likely BEEN causing problems and had likely already been caught using excessive force. That’s why all the other cops are immediately pissed at him. Cops are typically reaaaal quick to defend other cops, even when they should be doing the opposite. The scary part is that the other officers being immediately pissed means he’s likely done this before to who knows how many people. The more I see of cops, the less I like them. And, that’s the problem. Good cops need to step up immediately and loudly and publicly condemn shitty cops.

"They don't give us cards" Immediately the two cops on camera look at him with the face that says "you know you did something wrong and you're trying to lie your way out of it". To his fellow officers, that was effectively him admitting guilt.
I think Dukes may have been trying to trigger the "I got your six" response in the other officers, so they wouldn't give up their cards. But if they had, and one of the civilians had called the police department to complain about the incident, it would have come out anyway that they DO get cards. All the other officers would have been complicit in the lie and in trouble, too, for obstruction. Sometimes cops do lie, trying to get information, but that kind of lie is often given a pass: Suspect: " I didn't do 'ABC'; I was over there, just doing 'XYZ'. I didn't even know 'ABC' was going on." Cop: "Well, your friend over here told me something different. Are you sure you want to stick to your story? Because he says you did it." So now the suspect thinks his story is cracking, and may admit something, which leads to more questions, and possibly a full admission; or he might try to take some of the heat off of himself by giving up his friend, too, when in reality, the friend hadn't told the cop anything.

At the same time, it would trigger one of the -two- three response:
Flight, Fight, and Freeze.
Most of the time, they would Freeze, but there are case where some would Flee the case and other that would immediately do something that seems like a Threat.
Yes.
Nothing at all confusing about "get on the ground." This stuff happens when people fail to obey lawful commands given by police. If a cop says get on the ground, DO IT.
OBEY LAWFUL COMMANDS FROM LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS. PERIOD.
That "cop" was clearly on the wrong side of the badge.

They genuinely think they are above the law. And, the sick part is that, most of the time, they’re right.

@@marlonclaycomb5762 and boxes of them in the car as well.
Oh the look she gave. You make me laugh. What does not make me laugh is that 650,000.00 pay day the tax payers had to fork out. Because the police force hires retards. That money needs to come out of thier police budget. No raises this year guys thank you officer idiot. Maybe police will start doing some house cleaning.
Have a look at the black male officer behind them...he had the 'WTF' look going on too.
Thank God for body cams and cops willing to hold fellow cops accountable.
"They don't give us cards"
Immediately the two cops on camera look at him with the face that says "you know you did something wrong and you're trying to lie your way out of it".
Sometimes cops do lie, trying to get information, but that kind of lie is often given a pass:
Suspect: " I didn't do 'ABC'; I was over there, just doing 'XYZ'. I didn't even know 'ABC' was going on."
Cop: "Well, your friend over here told me something different. Are you sure you want to stick to your story? Because he says you did it."
So now the suspect thinks his story is cracking, and may admit something, which leads to more questions, and possibly a full admission; or he might try to take some of the heat off of himself by giving up his friend, too, when in reality, the friend hadn't told the cop anything.
Honestly, the white female officer was hesitant to give her card and ONLY gave her card because she saw the black female officer doing the RIGHT thing. You can tell she’s a tad bit afraid to step up and make the un-popular CORRECT choice during that time.
@@julianbarnes2536 *SIGH* .. after he stated they don’t “give” us cards she still just sits there, she doesn’t grab hers right away or doesn’t attempt to even SPEAK UP & inform the gentleman she even HAS one.. come on now. She only pulled hers out because she NOTICED a officer standing up doing the right thing! If that Black female deputy wasn’t there.. SHE WOULDN’T HAVE PULLED HER CARD OUT. Don’t argue with me.. argue with the facts in the footage brotha.
@@kellyrobinson1780 Yeah - That look of surprise and disgust of the female officer speaks volumes - I also want to note how much Dukes was using body language (flailing hands and arms) to try and emphasize "Hey, cover for me cause I can't actually admit to it" is insane and no different than criminals using subtle physical cues/etc to communicate and lie ... He is a gang member in uniform, while the other officers were truly awesome. Always remember, Cops are people too. Some good, some bad - but no matter WHAT your job is, accountability is key. If you fail at your job, you need to be punished and let go. Cheers to ATA for these videos. I love you spreading knowledge and many things you cover I have seen before you post them and we come to the same conclusions. Cheers.
@Shanna Sweger LOL, keep dreaming.. unfortunately the FOOTAGE says otherwise 🤷♂️😹
Take a look people. This is what good policing looks like. Holding not just civilian accountable, but also them selves. Give that female cop a raise.
I think the screaming and shouting is not good policing at all. It is respectless, it is rude, it provocative. Aggressive. How do you think police and the public get along when the police start off like this. And that is seemingly normal, what is not normal is what happens afterwards? No. Thye need to train police to have normal and calm interactions in general. It can change when people do not comply and pose a threat.
@@jaysimoes3705they need to hire people that are capable to be trained, not egotists, narcissistic, individuals.
@@jaysimoes3705 I got it in the first 5 seconds, Audit baby!
What are you talking about, you know damn well the white cop who told him to download the police cam was the guy who was over this assholes lies and you can tell everyone had enough of this bullshit
The reality is that she's not to be trusted. That's what other Cops will think.
"I'ma take that into evidence."
"For what?" - gangsta moment
When he went back and awkwardly sat back in the car alone and sighed, "Oh, Lord..." he knew he fucked up.
So Gansta
Exactly what i was thinking to myself 😂
That Sr cop knew almost immediately. He and the female cop calmly walked to the back of the scene together, had a short conversation that I imagine went like this "I think Steve probably fucked up... yea, isn't this his third time? Yup, I think so... ok so let's go ahead and make him go away. " annnnnnnd break.
@@timmarks3050 Yeah that sounds about right☺
Exactly!!!! He fucked up big time!!
He knew he Fd up when his fellow officers distance themselves from him and did not want to converse with him. They didn’t even want to try to come up with a plan. I commend the female officer for calling his BS from the beginning. The look on her face said everything. I’m glad he didn’t get away with this.
10:32 you can literally see her stare at the officer for lying, you can see that at that moment she knew the officer was guilty. And not only does she pull out a card for the citizen, but the white cop lady also pulls out a card.
Yes, but after she saw the Black officer was willing to do the right thing.

@@joseabrahams1111 To say the white cop lady only acted because the black cop lady did is a little bit of an unfair assumption. Without even considering that the black cop lady could have a higher position to address this, or it could be part of her jurisdiction, or maybe the black cop lady is more confident, or experienced in this matter. I don’t think any of these cops would have let this guy off Scott free. He was clearly in the wrong and even knew that he was in deep shit by the excuses and panic in his voice. Some people react quicker under pressure. Instead of playing the race game and implying something. You should consider that the black cop female officer is an excellent officer and a natural born leader who works well under pressure.
Less than a year earlier, he had been fired by the Calhoun County Sheriffs Office for insubordination and for creating a "hostile work environment." Sounds like he has a problem not only with those he has authority over but those who have authority over him.
D*mn shame🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
A disgrace to his state.
When the other 2 officers arrived it seemed as if they had prior incidents with the officer.
@@1killerbeez1 Good point -- it sounds like they were highly skeptical of his version from the start.
Bad bad. Rehired by another dept. BAD
I bet this is NOT the first time this cop has unjustly used force in this way. His colleagues are immediately looking at him with suspicion and annoyance. He's done this before.
Dirty cops never do one-off crimes, they always have a long rap-sheet of crimes.
You can tell, that they know he’s trouble.
Agreed.
He was a bit too high strung, with no integrity. It’s one thing to mistake the facts of the incident due to adrenaline. But to outright lie about the facts. No bueno. In the end he got the charges fitting for his actions. It awful someone had to be injured to prune out a guy who had no business behind the badge.
Not fit to be polite officer & rightfully fired. Unfortunately it appears that these cops usually get away with it, he was probably already not popular under his peers
Love all the "its a hard job" people who try to justify these types of actions
Aka cowards
where? Are you making them up in your head just to be angry? lol
@MarkBerenger I've seen it too multiple times so no they didn't just make that up in their head. Keep sucking LEO boot
