    In this episode, we compare Reylo, or Rey and Kylo's relationship, to Anidala; Anakin and Padme's romantic arc.
    We talk about Anakin and Padme's romance, and how it was significant for the Prequel Trilogy's tragic arc, and we mention how Rey and Kylo's relationship is important to the Sequel Trilogy.
    We compare and contrast Kylo and Anakin, and the type of choices they made. We also talk about how these relationships influence the characters and the story arc.
    We bring up similarities, thematic influences, and visual parallels, and comment on Reylo as reverse Anidala and on the theory that Rey and Kylo are Padme and Anakin reincarnated.

    I so agree with Mary, one of my absolute favorite Reylo things is that he has every step of the way admired her for her strength and power. Usually someone as talented as him would be arrogant about himself and want to take down anyone who can threaten them as the best, but from the beginning he likes that she's so strong and he wants to help her be all that she can be. Kylo Ren decided to kill Snoke when he said, "I stoked Ren's conflicted soul. I knew he was not strong enough to hide it from you." After he said that Kylo Ren looks up and in that moment he makes the decision to kill him right there. He wanted to prove that Snoke was wrong (and arrogant) in constantly degraded him claiming he was just a weak child.

      Dabuss55 I actually think it was Kylo’s plan to get rid of Snoke all along... since the aftermath of his killing Han and his light saber battle with Rey. He knew he couldn’t do it alone. He recognized that Rey could help him. He foresaw the future that she would stand beside him and help him do it.

    Lee, you're spot on about a foundation of dishonesty being the factor that doomed Anakin and Padme from the start. An inability (or refusal) to live an honest life is catastrophic to all aspects of anyone's life. Anakin and Padme could have been good for each other if they had been honest, but all of their behavior revolved around the deceit that they felt was necessary to protect their relationship. That lie led directly to Anakin abandoning his principles in service of his emotions by turning on Mace to protect a Sith Lord.

      @@rowangreenleaf I'm interested to see what they will do with it. I admittedly did not like TLJ very much and in the spirit of honesty I've been rather disappointed by Rey as an individual character. I thought her introduction on Jakku in TFA was flawless, but I don't think she was handled very well in TLJ. I have difficulty identifying with a character who seems so naturally perfect. With that said, I find every interaction she has with Kylo extremely interesting, as her only moments of true vulnerability seem to come in those moments. Meanwhile, his ass kicking on Starkiller Base aside, Kylo's true moments of strength seem to happen with her. I really think the legacy of each character hinges on a satisfying development of their relationship and having that play a role in the resolution of the conflict between the Resistance and the First Order.
      On a side note, I do want to thank you girls for something. Despite being a sucker for Reylo, I would undoubtedly fall into the catagory of TLJ hater, and someone not particularly happy with the way LucasFilm is doing things...especially their passivity when media and certain people connected to them (I'm looking at you Chuck Wendig) label fans such as myself as racist, sexist, afraid of strong women, etc...which I take personal offense to since my favorite character is Ahsoka. I am extremely appreciative of the fact that y'all just talk about Star Wars and don't engage in that type of narrative. In being a fan of Reylo but not a fan of the ST overall, I'm definitely in a small niche. I appreciate that your content doesn't make those things mutually exclusive.

      @Gregory B thank you for that comment, you made my day! Re: TLJ, I'm a woman/a Latin American immigrant in the U.S./brown, and yet I struggled with TLJ as a fan of Star Wars. It's really disheartening to see the way some people attack Star Wars fans who dare to express a critical opinion of any aspect of that movie. For me TLJ is not all bad, but it's not all good either, and I know a lot of perfectly reasonable people who feel the same way. But online I've been called a Russian bot, a dude from /pol/ and a white supremacist for daring to question aspects of Rey's characterization and Luke's character arc in TLJ. It's really sad to see. The others at Star Wars Connection and Lords of the Sith liked TLJ more than I did, but we all still agree that it's important to provide a space for critical thinking and respectful disagreement. I'm glad to see you value that. And idk, I'm just really hoping that Episode IX can unite everyone. I think they can do it, provided they play their cards right.
      About Rey: I absolutely LOVED her in TFA, but as a Star Wars fan and someone who loves movies I couldn't really connect with her in TLJ at first. But when I started looking at her arc through my psychology goggles I found that I can actually understand where she's coming from, and that really helped me. She's actually not perfect--in many ways she's just as flawed as Kylo is. Where he's built the Kylo Ren persona as a way to protect the vulnerable Ben Solo, Rey has built a wall around herself that prevents her from connecting emotionally beyond a superficial level with anyone, because she's so afraid of being seen as flawed and abandoned (like her parents abandoned her). We're going to talk more about this in the Rey psychology episode that's coming out next. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it. Thanks again for your comment and for your support. ^^

    Here's something that occurred to me a few weeks ago about the PT. In The Phantom Menace Padme is holding all the cards. When she and Anaken meet, Padme is older, which is important when you're both children, she's already the governor of an entire system (I know the title says "Queen" but it always felt like a glorified governor to me) and probably came from local aristocracy. Anaken is younger, obviously, the slave to a junk dealer on a backwater planet run by the Hutt cartel, and is technically a bastard. So Padme has all the power and advantages in their relationship.
    In Attack Of The Clones they are both adults, so the age difference doesn't really matter anymore. Anaken is coming into his Force abilities and is a skilled pilot and lightsaber duelist. Padme has also moved on to greater things by joining the Senate for Naboo, and she's still a good shot like we saw in Phantom Menace. This is the only movie where these two are close to being equals. This also brings another layer of tragedy because this is the movie where they fell in love.
    Revenge Of The Sith comes around and that equality is gone. Anaken is more powerful in the Force then ever, and he's a combat veteran thanks to the Clone Wars. Padme just...stayed where she was, except now she's pregnant so we don't see her in anymore shootouts. Padme spends most of the movie not doing a whole lot until the very end when she tries to turn Anaken away from the Dark Side. It didn't work largely because they were no longer equals.
    Rey and Ben will get their happy ending because they are equals. Their relationship already has that foundation of trust and respect. We even saw the beginnings of that respect in TFA when Kylo was in total awe of Rey holding his grandfather's lightsaber and his offer to train her. That trust was shown when Rey came to the Supremacy to help Ben, and Ben trusted Rey during the fight in the throne room and when he asked her to join him. Equality and respect are what will make this relationship work, just like in real life.

      I agree, and there's something more: Padmé never knew Anakin's mind, she loved him despite his mental distortion because she was not aware of it. Rey knows Kylo's mind very well, she's literally been inside it. And she's beginning to accept it. Another point in favour. :-)

    Yet another parallel is that there's a significant age difference in the couple (to me, significant means more than 5yrs), though they flipped the gender of the older person. I wanted to also bring up something I heard in a different podcast. Someone in the group pointed out that in "Star Wars", whenever the central woman is ready to begin a full-on relationship and/or have kids, she lets her hair totally down. In "Attack of the Clones", when Padme walks out and sees Anakin meditating, her hair is down and flowy. The way she looks back at him as she walks away shows her attraction, and I think of it as the moment when the snowball starts to tumble towards the romantic side of their relationship. She also frequently has her hair fully down in "Revenge of the Sith" when she's alone with Anakin, signifying her new role in life. In "Return of the Jedi", Leia's hair is completely down on Endor. This is where she and Han finally meet on the same page and form their relationship, and it's also likely where Ben was conceived. I wouldn't be surprised if Rey has a similar moment in Episode 9, where she has nothing in her hair to bind it up or hold it back, and that's where/when she and Kylo have a true, full-on romantic moment. Maybe even, their first kiss.

      The process has already began for Rey in TLJ. When she comes out of the dark side cave in Ach-To , she doesn't have the childlike buns she wore in TFA. Her hair is down, and what happens next? She touches hands with Ben in the cottage. After that, she ships herself to him, and she's wearing her hair down too.

    Great episode! (As usual).
    I like how you bring up Padme’s role in their relationship ending in disaster as I think people are often quick to put all the blame on Anakin. I think Padme’s massive enabling played a huge role in their downfall, which she started even before they got together (going off herself to “help Obi-Wan” enabled Anakin to disobey his current mandate from the Jedi Counsel to protect her, and almost gets them both killed). Agreeing to marry him in secret also allows Anakin to not have to choose between her and the Jedi, makes Anakin easier pickings for Palpatine, and leaves both of them with no support in their relationship or recourse for help when things start getting really bad.
    Also, one thing I don’t think got brought up when you were talking about balance in the two relationships was Force powers. The Chosen One ends up with a woman with no strength in the Force, which was always going to be a huge source of imbalance. Reylo on the other hand is a relationship between two equals in the Force, which significantly changes where their story can end up.
    I also liked your point that unlike in Anidala, Rey and Ben bring out the best in each other. When you really think about it I don’t think the Rey we met in TFA with her ATAT wall of denial, and her desperation to find a family and not be alone would have turned Kylo down. She would have thought “we’ll be together, and I’ll change him, and everything will be great.” The Rey at the end of TLJ has repeatedly had Ben challenge her about her tendency to ignore painful truths and live in her happy delusions.
    I just don’t think Ben was expecting Rey's first act of making a healthier reality based decision to be turning him down . . .

    Padme enabled Anakin after he horrifically killed the sand people, and that was when they sealed a dysfunctional, codependent relationship that would end badly. In TLJ, there are some codependent trials that fail before they can even begin a full romantic relationship. Rey wants to save and fix Ben, and it didn't go the way she thought it would. Part of being codependent on someone is trying to "help" them change into who you think they could be. She was in that mode, but thankfully, it didn't work. Ben also tries to "help" Rey, and is very honest and thoughtful about it (Han and Luke as parental figures in the shirtless scene, "you're still holding on, let go" before offering her corulership of the galaxy). They do both do it because they WANT the other one, but that is a rough way to start a relationship, trying to change one another. So, I reallllllyyy want Reylo to work in 9, and hope JJ had them work to fix themselves and come together as the best versions of themselves that they could offer each other. Grownups in every sense of the word.

    Another awesome video as always! Loved the parallels you mentioned between Anidala and Reylo. Some of them I had not thought of before but it all makes sense. Another parallel I saw was the outfit of Padmé on Mustafar and Rey on Ach To. Padmé has armbands and a vest just like Rey does. I always struggle with Padme. I like her and her beliefs in the Republic, but her willingness to just overlook Anakin‘s flaws always bothered me. I like that Rey refuses to let Kylo corrupt her. They are equals, that’s what makes their relationship so profound and why it will work in the end.

    I have a theory about the cave scene with Rey seeing herself in the reflection. I know that originally, she was supposed to see her face merged with Kylo Ren's in the early version, but that was cut because they were afraid it would be misinterpreted. Some people have decided that this might mean Rey was born of the force, like Anakin, and therefore there were no parent's to show. Kylo Ren says her parents are 'filthy junk traders who sold her for drinking money' and yet the cave did not show her either of them. (Proof, according to some, that Kylo lied or misinterpreted his vision.) What if it needs to be interpreted simply and literally? Rey raised herself on Jakku. She looked after herself, worked and earned her own food, etc. Unkar Plutt certainly didn't go out of his way to help her. So the cave showed her own reflection back to her. She raised herself. Kylo Ren did the same. Both of his parents were so busy with their own lives that he basically raised himself.

    I enjoyed this episode and I also believe that Reylo is the reverse Anidala. Nice catch with the hand holding scene in AotC. I also think that in comparison with the finger touch scene it also shows the balance in power between Rey and Kylo compared to the imbalance between Anakin and Padme. It makes me wish that they had kept the cut stuff with Padme in RotS. The moment when Padme learns about what Anakin did to that village of sand people in AotC reminds me of the throne room proposal because I think that if Rey had taken Kylo's hand then their relationship most likely would have ended tragically like Anakin and Padme's.

    Great podcast! I loved the comparison to Ben and Rey touching hands versus Padme taking Anakin’s robotic hand. I never thought about that.
    Many in my family agree with you that reincarnation isn’t part of SW lore. However, Qui-Gon was going to teach the path to immortality to Yoda and Obi Wan. Maz specifically states, “You live long enough, you see the same eyes in different people.”
    Meanwhile, Luke in TLJ, has Rey connect with the Force and
    she tells us what she sees, “Life, death, decay that feeds new life.” She’s describing the circle of life and that includes rebirth.
    The Japor snippet is the key and Rey was reaching for the ancient Jedi text that had similar inscriptions on the spine. Anakin made it for Padme so she would always remember him, and he made it at his most innocent. He stated in TPM that he would one day return and free all the slaves, and I think that also includes the stormtroopers. I don’t think it’s gross if Kylo is Anakin and Rey is Padme or vice versa. I just think it’s strange that Anakin’s Force ghost is conspicuously absent. Where is he? He could have entered Rey with Obi Wan’s help, “These are your first steps.” Also, I think the entire premise of the ST was revealed in SWR, “Restore past...Redeem future.”
    I’ve been a fan since I was ten years old in 1977. I’m ready for a truly happy ending and I don’t mean bittersweet. I expect a gloriously happy ending for our hero and heroine. Yes, I call Ben the hero because I hope that’s the big plot twist. He’s been the hero all along because he’s the SW character taking Yoda’s advice, “Do or do not, there is no try,” AND “Let go of all you fear to lose.”
    Yoda tells Luke, “Lost Ben Solo YOU did,” but Yoda was present in the opening scene of TFA. Yoda has Ben’s back....

    Add a small comment to 25:47 - "I'm not giving you anything" - compare with Snoke (the real master and actual bad guy) saying to Rey "Give - me - EVERYTHING" and (symbolically) raping Rey('s mind). From what the film shows, Rey could not stop him and Snoke took everything he wanted from her.

    Awesome stuff, thanks ladies! I really do think they will end it all on an up note and Rey and Ben will live. 1) Vader died but he was fairly old when he was redeemed, so his death wasn’t really tragic. I can’t imagine them killing off a young guy or girl. 2) I completely agree that the ‘closing of the door’ was a temporary closing off. Kylo has a lot of work to do on himself. Lol. If he realizes this and spends his time doing stuff to prove his worth to Rey....(think Pride and Prejudice here) that will be quite romantically awesome. That Rey would not take him until he was his best person is an awesome message to send out to kids (and adults). 3) this seems to be all about preconceived notions about people being wrong. To not have that come to fruition by Rey coming together with the man who she thought of as a monster, would not complete that theme. It is all about understanding people’s flaws and all, and still loving them, n’est-ce pas? 3) Po’s ‘I Know’ I think was all referring to how Finn talked about nothing else but Rey ....Po knows all about her because of that. It was meant to be funny. Right?

    Excellent episode!! I love the parallels between both couples. While I definitely love the idea that Rey & Ben are not literal reincarnations of Anakin and Padme more so, I'm still not completely opposed to and would accept it in IX if they are (with Rey having Padme's soul because the other way is too creepy).
    What I like about the literal reincarnation theory:
    1. The entire trilogy becomes the birth, life, death, and rebirth of Anakin. It is easy to then say we a ending the Skywalker saga & just mean Anakin's story only.
    2. It explains why we have yet to see Anakin in the ST.
    3. Ben seems to be haunted in his dreams by Vader. This would explain why.
    4. Anakin and Padme would finally be reunited. It explains Ben & Rey's mysterious connection even more so and why the lightsaber called to her (since Anakin gave it to Padme in the cartoon, saying it was his heart).
    5. It explains some similarities between their personalities and appearances (such as, the arm bandahes Rey wears).
    What I like about a nonliteral reincarnation theory:
    1. I love Ben way more than Anakin. Anakin (killer of younglins and wife strangeler) & Vader are way worse than Ben, imo. Despite his misdeeds, I sympathize with Ben and his struggle more so than Anakin. I love Ben as a character, but I'm very "meh" towards Anakin.
    2. If they become one person, then that means that this "one soul" is responsible for their combined crimes. Thus, a non-literal interpretation makes Ben and Rey more independent in their actions and as characters.
    3. They do have some strong differences in personalities.
    4. Why didn't Yoda say something to Luke about this being the case when he visited him?
    5. Ben and Rey can be inverses of Anidala and rectify the tragedy of the PT without being literal translations.
    Anyway, either way, as long as I get HEA Reylo, I'll be ecstatic.

I see so many with Rey and Padme, but also with her and Obi-Wan, Luke, Han, etc. It's fascinating. To your point about IX having a happy ending...this is Disney and if they know how to do one thing right it's fairytale endings. So I believe we will see Kylo redeemed and both Rey and Kylo finding happiness with eachother. Also if this is reverse Anidala, do you think we will see Kylo bring Rey back to life? That is also very Disney, bringing the "princess" back from her eternal slumber. Or maybe Rey will save him? Oh my brain, I could go on and on...any way love your content, thank you!

    Kylo didn't want to listen to Rey talking about 'the droid', because Kylo, as Ben Solo built BB-8, and while I'm on that topic, Ben Solo, as Kylo Ren was lonely in the First Order without his droid companion, so he built BB-9E. How's that for a theory? Given that, Rey and Ben had something in common even before the Force bond. I also think that one of the reasons why Kylo was so rough with Poe Dameron was because he knew from pulling the knowledge from Poe's mind that Leia gave BB-8 to Poe.

    there were some really great points raised here, especially from denise. well done girls! if you asked me years ago who my favourite couple was I would've said anidala but now they have nothing on reylo for me. reylo is so poetic- equals in the light and the dark, they balance each other out and the force. Now i watch the PT and see that anidala is (i hate using this word but..) toxic. anakin was obsessed with her. his obsession killed her. as you mentioned, padme ignored her morals and everything she stood for because she loved him.
    I agree about them having a happy ending. Will reylo end up together with a litter of gray jedi? I don't know. I do know that Ben will certainly be redeemed and rey will continue to love him. From the moment Ben has been on screen, we've been slapped in the face that he's still got light in him. Besides, disney wouldn't kill/not redeem the last skywalker- son of leia and han, nephew of luke skywalker, grandson of padme and anakin, named after obi-wan/ ben (you're my only hope) kenobi. it's makes no sense from a literary POV or a money POV

    I think the coffin scene is more like : Padme = Ophelia from Hamlet, where she dies of a broken heart/madness & leaves 'her man' with permanent guilt whereas Rey = Joan of Arc. She is going into battle for France/the resistance because she has seen Kylo's future and knows that she must turn him to kill the Sith. The writing of Reylo vs Anidala - you have to take into account the modernization of their relationships as well. The former is more traditional [as Lucas wrote it in the 70s] vs the latter being modern; in yes that they are equal. There is a direct power struggle of light & dark between them. Plus Padme had to relent to some outer forces because she has to bring her twins into the world. That's literally 9 months where she is out of commission.

  • @patrickmusson4571
    @patrickmusson4571 5 лет назад +1

    I think that Ben Solo built BB-8 and Leia supposedly gave BB-8 to Poe when Ben left to train with Luke. Several years later, you see the scene where FN put a box over BB-8 when FN, Rose, and DJ arrived on the Supremacy and were walking towards their mission goal, we see BB-9E on a ledge watching them and suspects there is another droid. Quite a coincidence isn't it that BB-9E is on the same ship as Kylo Ren/Ben Solo, meaning that Kylo could have built BB-9E to replace the droid he lost.

  • @LilPinkPoodle7
    @LilPinkPoodle7 5 лет назад +3

    These parallels are very interesting. I'm all for a reverse Padme and Anakin. I had an interesting thought/theory similar to the reincarnate one. From Leia's pregnancy it seems that She, Luke and Han knew that Kylo was going to be like Darth Vader. She sensed how powerful he was in the womb. It got me thinking. What if Kylo was conceived from the force the same way that Anakin was. That would give the family a solid reason to instantly connect him to his grandfather. (Being conceived the same way) This would also be a reason for his family to panic and ship him off to Luke. Being created by "the force" would have also attracted snoke to Kylo so young. If Han wasnt his biological father this would explain why he wasn't the best father figure and had a disconnect with Kylo. This theory would fall into the reincarnate category. Probably unlikely but it's an interesting thought. Since both characters are considered "Ying and Yang"...if Kylo was created by the force I'm assuming Rey was as well. We don't know her parentage but can assume with this theory that Her mother dropped her off on Jakku. I also like the idea of having a woman being born of the force they way Anakin was. Just wanted to share my thoughts! Love your Channel. You honestly have the best conversations. 😁👍

    @ Lords of the Sith hey guys nice video. I liked how you dissected the relationship tropes of both Anidala and Reylo. Since this is a soap opera and now having a better understanding of soaps and how they work from a romantic view, in almost every soap they seem to have romance happen between two people you'll never expect to fall in love and in Star Wars it proves to be no different. Plus with Rey and Kylo/Ben they are actually equals (thank you Snoke) and that type of attraction seems to parralel with that of P&P's characters Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy because the way I interpret the movies and BBC show the reason why Darcy fell for Elizabeth was because her intelligence was equal to his which greatly amused him kind of how Kylo was amused by Rey when she wielded his family's legacy lightsaber and from that point on Rey had bewitched him both body and soul 😏😁and also in a way they are both compassionate but Darcy just display his differently since he's so introverted. However, I can't help but wonder if the Reylo love story will end tragically because from watching TFA John Williams selectively composed a SW rendition of the Romeo and Juliet theme song during "The Abduction" scene 🤔. What do either of you think?

    10:05 Anakin IS a bad person. He is bad because he did terrible, terrible things--worse than Hitler when you think about it--and did so for essentially petty, negative reasons. To be sure, he was innocent as a child. He was shaped by many forces outside his control, not least the cruel, narrow-minded ideology of the Jedi Council. But his solution to his problems was to deceive, to seek power, to blame others and never take personal responsibility. That he could be redeemed was wonderful, and a good story--but had he lived it seems impossible he would not have slid back into the Dark Side. His struggle to reject it might have made for a wonderful story, also--a long, difficult one. But by the ending of Episode Two, he was a bad person, a mass murderer of great power and little maturity.

    Loved the video, but I am one of those cooks who thinks that Rey and Ben are Padme and Anakin reborn. It just makes too much sense to me to dismiss.
    The Wayward Jedi videos on the reincarnation theory are really interesting to watch even if you don't change your mind.

    I dont think Anakin making a comment (when he was good) about politics needing someone to force everyone to agree is him showing Padme he wants to be a dictator. That's a bit of a leap. Who hasn't heard someone saying something similar when faced with the inefficiencies of democratic governance? In sum, Padme shouldn't have ran away in horror at those words of Anakins.

    Can we just be clear? There is no romance between Kylo Ren and Rey. There may be a connection ,which was instigated by Snoke, but they don’t appear to be “ falling in love.” I don’t know why people are assuming that there is a romance. People are projecting their romantic wishes on these two. She may be sympathetic to Ben Solo but she’s hardly in love with him. Padme and Anakin were truly in love.

    @Lords of the Sith on some other points.
    1). How do you guys feel about Disney over the years with their lead female characters being so young and having them falling in love and in most cases getting married (i.e. Belle, Snow White, Ariel, Jasmine, Sleeping Beauty, etc.). Do you guys think it has had an effect on the way girls view love?
    2). Disney has however increased the ages by a little bit with some its most recent lead female characters such as Tiana, Cinderella, Rapunzel, Anna from Frozen and now with Rey speaking of which is 19 according to the script in TFA and with Kylo even though the script doesn't mention his age according to JJ Abrams TFA takes place 30 years after the ROTJ and given the now canon novels such as Aftermath Ben Solo was born a year after the events in ROTJ which brings him to 29 years old in TFA and because I can't find this to be canon but if one of you guys can canonically confirm to me if both Han was 29 and Leia was 19 when they first met in a New Hope then that would explain why in a interview Adam Driver did not want to say how old Kylo is because he said people would read too much into it which would be a well thought out "coincidence" and parallel to Han and Leia and I'll explode with pure joy 💭😁😁. Also since Rey is a Disney character do either of you think Disney will put her in the category of a Disney princess?

    • @LordsoftheSithPodcast
      @LordsoftheSithPodcast  5 лет назад +7

      I don't think she'll be in the Disney princess category. Disney holds several intellectual properties, and doesn't mix them up. The young age is a fairytale thing, right? Fairy tales come from the middle ages, when people lived until they were 35... Even now, they are for young girls, and people want a happily ever after, even when people are too young to be achieve that stability.
      I believe Han is 29 and Leia 19, but I don't have a source for that right now.

    • @mbrooks1991
      @mbrooks1991 5 лет назад +1

      @@LordsoftheSithPodcast I agree with the points you made about the time period that fairytale revolve around with it being more so in the middle ages with the lifespan being less than 50 and with the possible Han and Leia age parraell for Reylo it really doesn't matter but I think it adds even more fire to the flames for these two new SW characters attraction towards each other. Nevertheless great points that you guys continue to make for this couple and I look forward to more of your videos.

    The second Kylo took his helmet off in TFA, I knew Reylo was going to happen. I really don't like these new films though, and ever since TFA I don't think Disney can do anything to save these movies. Anakin and Padme was natural and beautiful, and very touching, Kylo and Rey are marred by all the nonsense surrounding them: The Force acting out of whack, Rey Sue and Luke abandoning everyone. Han and Leia broken up, Anakin's Chosen one prophecy being completely useless at the end of the day. Seriously an ancient prophecy was made about a guy being born to eliminate the Sith and return balance to the galaxy. this huge prophecy, brought about "peace" for around 10 years only.... completely takes away the legend of Darth Vader/ Anakin Skywalker the chosen one, thus destroying the entire purpose of the Star Wars Saga. They (Disney) really should have stuck to Georges script!

    • @lukasbauer9030
      @lukasbauer9030 5 лет назад +3

      Natural, beautiful and touching?
      God, please tell me you are joking right?
      You do realize that the whole Chosen One thing was an I'll thought out retcon that George threw in just because it sounded good to him, without putting any real thought into it at all?
      The idea that some kind of silly Space Jesus is needed to kill a corrupt politician with minor super powers, that himself has been born millenia after that stupid prophecy, is the most ridiculous overkill in the history of fiction.
      Anakin is the most ineffectual and useless messiah figure ever, certainly if we were to go by the legends continuity, where the Sith are back in full force after 2 generations.
      But even if there had never been any comparably dangerous dark sider ever again, it would only have been by authorial fiat, since there is nothing in universe that actually changed, nothing that would ever logically prevent it from happening.
      The ST actually is what will ensure that Anakin's sacrifice was not in vain.
      There was a time that Lucas at least thought that something deeper and more meaningful could be to the Chosen One and the prophecy, and that was when he made the Mortis trilogy on The Clone Wars.
      That story was a shared force vision, but it showed that the real purpose the Chosen One would have been to balance the Force and end the eternal cycle of conflict, bringing eternal peace, by mastering both the light side and the dark side, while being by neither.
      In the end, probably kinda healing the Force itself of it's split personality.
      But Anakin declined, and he never fulfilled the entirety of his original purpose.
      Lucas did not pursue this line of thought further and regressed to the simpler, dumber explanation, that Anakin came just to destroy the Sith, without any hint of any change to what makes the rise of either new Sith or something equally bad inevitable.
      But the ST has set up everything to to do for real what Anakin never got around to do.
      Anakin's grandson will finish what gramps started and this will ensure that his achievement will stick for real.
      By the way, the Force works exactly as it did in the OT, it is the PT that was out of whack with the OT, but George Lucas of course was a master of contradicting himself.

    • @elfology
      @elfology 5 лет назад

      @@lukasbauer9030 You realize that George Lucas's word, as the story teller, movie maker and creator of the Star Wars Universe is the final word of what is, and what isn't. If he wanted the Force to work a certain way, then it's his call as the ORIGINAL CREATOR. That being said Legends is based off of other writers working together to create new stories, aka publicized, collaborative fanfiction. George Lucas himself never saw Legends as Canon. Anakin IS the Chosen One, George talked about it when Revenge of the Sith came out in 2005. George publicly came out saying he does not like the Sequel trilogy, and that it did not match up with the original outlines he gave Kathleen Kennedy when he sold to Disney. Disney now may own Star Wars in a business sense, but they will never be the Creator or Artist of Star Wars, all this to say that you are allowed to not like the Prequels, and enjoy the sequels, however you can not make the statement that the Chosen One ark or story line was WRONG. Star Wars episodes 1-6 are, and will be the most canonical and indisputable story of Star Wars for as long as people watch Star Wars. Disney is starting a new Era for the franchise, and I personally do not like it when Rey Sue could do mind control to storm troopers after literally only knowing of the Force for a day, or a world where Luke gives up and becomes a coward, ugh honestly I can't be bothered to type all my issues with TFA and TLJ right now there are hundreds of vids on RUclips from people with the same opinion as i have on the matter, however let me end by saying if REYLO is the most interesting thing in the new films (and it is, to me) that's really sad. I really don't like Rey as a character, and these films brought me to the point where her love life is now the most interesting thing... And it's not even that interesting, at least Anakin and Padme had the whole sneaking around thing going on. Reylo are pretty bland, like Edward and Bella... but still, it's the most fascinating thing in these ST movies.
