1 Stupidly Easy trick to Transition to ANY BPM (NO SKILLS REQUIRED)

  • Опубликовано: 15 сен 2024
  • Breakdown transitions are done by simply mixing in the breakdown section of the next song at the point where you reach the current songs breakdown section.
    No beat matching or mixing required because all you have to do is play the next and mix out from the previous song. It’s so stupidly simple and effective to do, that any DJ (beginner or pro) can find this technique useful to implement in a set!

    ► SCRIPT
    We’re going to use 2 simple EDM songs, which both are around the same BPM.
    So we’re going to transition via the breakdown of both songs.
    In the first song we want to transition from its breakdown, so let’s mark it and give it a listen.
    Next, we want our second song to start playing from its break down here, So let’s also mark it and give it a listen.
    Now, one of the most important aspects of this technique lies in your break down.
    As you heard a while ago, the songs that i’ve chosen have great breakdowns which don’t have a lot of interfering melodies or beats. They’re pretty blank to be honest, and that’s what we want.
    In order to make this transition shine, we have to find songs that have breakdowns that are almost similar with each other, so that we can better mask and blend this transition in a mix.
    Anyway, now, since we marked these two songs, and know where we should mix in and out,
    All we have to do now is wait till we reach the first songs breakdown section and once we reach that, we must immediately play the next songs break down and mix out from the previous song accordingly
    The heart of this technique lies in knowing and marking your breakdowns, and mixing accordingly when you reach those sections where you are supposed to mix.
    So know your songs, mark their breakdowns, wait for the transition point and mix in and out as smoothly as you can!
    All you really need for this technique is good preparation and timing.

    I love your videos, and your style of DJ'ing. My question/comment this time is: I'd love to see a video on how to approach or put together a whole set . My guess is that you must do a lot of preparation, and order all your tracks beforehand, while knowing in your mind every single transition that you will do between each of the songs. But not having ever done it before, that is just a guess. I'd love to see a video that gives a formal account of that process, just to know what it looks like. Thanks for sharing your expertise in these brilliant videos!

    What about different BPMs for hip hop? They don’t have breakdowns like that as often

    • @djcarlo
      @djcarlo  6 месяцев назад

      The same techniques apply, but you'll need to time it a little tighter. What I'd recommend is starting from the first beat of the 2nd track, and hitting play (using the vinyl break) on the first track if that's the case.

  • @davidkocofnuco2856
    @davidkocofnuco2856 2 года назад

    but for techno tracks? I am playing some tracks from 120 to 140 bpm...how do I transition smoothly? there aren't really parts without the beat..I guess during the breaks?

    • @djcarlo
      @djcarlo  2 года назад

      You can use the breaks! Given, you can also pitch up some songs so they start reaching the higher BPM ones, and you can gradually mix from 120 and make your way to 140.
