Awesome tutorial! Reverb is these best option for these BPM transitions because it does not hold a tempo like the echo effect does. Thank you for these amazing videos. You are killing it!!
Man I recently came across your channel and I have to say you are a genius with these videos. I'm an olehead trying to mess with these new era controllers and this video means the world. I never thought about these gems you dropped here to transition into different bpms 🙏
Yo man, really appreciate that 🙏🏾🙏🏾 - glad I can help. And yeah, things are definitely constantly changing with this new tech. Trying to stay up to date myself. Appreciate the support!
Great tutorial! I do not know if you have addressed this somewhere else but if you set properly your beat grids on a transition track (in this video they are not) then you can apply transition type 1 and 2 more easily.
i been looking ways to incorporate different genres in my sets for ages, i want to mix boombap, hip hop, but also some jersey club or uk garage which goes 70 halftime or 140 double time and i was very uncertain wether to place it before hip hop (90-100) or after some house (120-130), usually it takes to much time to gradually raise bpms song by song so i think i might be closer to a better solution thanks to this vid. thanks man.
This just popped up on my YT feed and I've liked and subscribed. Beginner dj and these techniques are perfect for open format djing. If you have any more techniques like these that would be fab. Thank you 🙏
Just stumbled on your videos. Love your explanations and demonstrating the techniques slowly. And breaking down the timing. Like you actually explained the chirp scratch that I actually started practicing that again. Thanks!
Love this tutorial! Im going to subscribe but please continue to make content such as, you broke it down and didnt overly talk and i replayed a few times for me to have an understanding, thank you !!
Bro I loved you on Deep Space 9. Oh wait you didn't play the Jake? Just kidding but this is an excellent video how well you broke it down, best I have seen in terms of actually making this understandable to the uninitiated such as myself. Keep up the good work!
💯 saw your comment a day ago and made a mix yesterday. Showing me in action is just as important as teaching so thanks! Will be dropping a quick mix tomorrow morning, and others following that.
Shouldn’t the pitch fader be in the center of the song you are transition to? This way it is at it’s original position? This way when you remove sync the song is at its original bpm. I am trying to learn this and I am a bit confused. Thank you - great work!!
Great question!! Technically, yes! I would say it’s good to practice that way but it’s not necessarily imperative. Even when removing sync, I don’t mind my tracks being a little sped up or slowed down where I can quickly correct them with the pitch fader when needed.
Thanx again liftoff!!! One quick question is it better to dj in relitive absolute or int mode??? I noticed there r certain things u can no longer do depending on which mode your in.

@@bebedjtouttandjbebe1180 ohh got ya! Hold your shift button and click the key lock button toward the top of the SX3 (under the key lock, it says tempo range). On your virtual deck in serato, you’ll see the tempo range go from 8 to 16, then to 50, then back to 8 and loop through the those 3
I can understand the frustration in the sync button and how it’s a huge crutch in the DJ world. However, I think DJ’ing is still an art that goes FAR beyond just being able to keep tracks at the same tempo. Controllers alone made DJ’ing an entirely different ball game but I personally will always have the utmost respect for those carrying around crates of vinyl, seeing no visual waveform, no effects, and the list goes on. But at the same time, tech progresses with the times so adapting is the only choice to a certain degree.
Ehhh, I agree to an extent. But sometimes, having to constantly adjust your sliders when you make quick transitions becomes a very hard task. If you implement a lot of techniques and are a very “active DJ” using sync is a tool (although some consider it a cheat). However, it’s helpful and not boring when you’re using it as a crutch versus a cheat if that makes sense.
@@DJLiftOFF I see your point. It should give you time to incorporate new tricks into a set. But if you're straight mixing house music and all you are doing is fader work every 5 minutes and twisting the EQs for no reason, you're going to get bored very soon.
There’s nothing wrong with using the sync button. It’s important to learn how to DJ without it and know how to beat match but sync is useful in many different scenarios. Some think otherwise and hey 🤷🏾♂️ do as ya please.
@@DJLiftOFF when you start learning how to drive a car you start with manual transmission and you can get an automatic gear afterwards if you wanted to
No disrespect taken! Appreciate all feedback! I personally don’t see sync as a problem. I understand that some DJs see it as a crutch, but it’s a development that has great use depending on what you’re doing at the moment. I would never teach an entire course on using sync, or teach a beginner to use it starting out - however, it has its benefits.
@@mikeymike164 I can respect that for sure. Definitely to each is own. I use it for certain things, but generally leave it off as not using it makes DJ’ing just more fun in general honestly.
