Going from years on the dance floor to my bucket list of learning to DJ before the age of 50 I'm stoked to begin on my DDJ- flx4 and finding your tutorials the perfect source to get me there. Gracias Carlo
I have never DJ'd in my entire life, but i'll come up with songs in my head. I never knew the official terms for what I was doing, but I have been adding acapellas and drop mixing in my head for years. I can't wait to try this all out for real.
@@djcarlo I absolutely will! And I have been watching your videos to get into it. I’m so excited and so thankful to you for your videos. They get right to the point and they’re very easy to follow.
This is solid practice for literally anyone! I have been DJing for over a decade and each one of these techniques get used multiple times per night, and even I need practice at a few of them! Great video as always, Carlo! ⭐
Just these tricks will get you pretty far for most gigs from my experience, love how you broke it down in a very understandable format for folks. Great for mixing on the fly for multiple hours. Be cool to see a video on how you set up your crates and prep your tracks with cuepoints and notes. I imagine you have a lot of things in that regard which i could learn from to make my sets slightly easier to maneuvre.
Mixing properly helps too@@frankygers but yeah, I hear ya... Nothing will make me leave a stage quicker than bad music or bad mixes 👍 I recently saw Polo & Pan perform on the main stage at a festival a couple months back & that was probably the worst set I've seen in my life. Aside from the EuroVision SingSongy TRASH music they played, they didn't even bother mixing a single track... Everything would just stop & then the guy would have to just walk back & hit play on his iTunes (or whatever they use back in Deutschland), after every single song... It was embarrassing to watch & to listen to. #DoubleWhammy
DJ Carlo is the man. To everyone interested or just starting out, in under a week ago, I went from watching his videos on tips and tricks to now having a controller and feeling comfortable leveling up to Acapellas Level 2 and feeling comfortable. Content is super easy to understand and funny. It may feel dreadful but just repeat each step and only each step for two days and so on. You’ll pick it up quick. I would love to see videos for things like mixing in key such as 5A and 10A and what works best and what doesn’t. Thanks Carlo. Please keep showing us the way. Spread the word about this channel. Your personal mixes are dope too. 🎧 🎶 ❤️ ✌️

That's great and the world would be a better place if everyone would strive for that. I also appreciate the hardware selection you use in your demonstrations. Many are not at the point to spend lots of money on a controller, so seeing these more accessible tools at work and getting the job done is great. Kudos and continued success!

Drop mixing was my favorite. I know skrillex mashs up drop after drop to keep the energy going. Not only did you make this fluid and easy to learn, but you also provided resources, and got right into it. I've taken classes from a few other DJ's but none of them come close to the value you bring to us. All for free. Much love to you Carlo. You're a bright soul! Thank you for helping us!!!

This is the step I think most DJs get wrong, how to practice. It seems simple, but without a good strat- you will waste a lot of time. I usually run through my "tricks" at least once to be sure they are good. Then I focus mostly on the new stuff I am working on. I always figure that if I can complete the "trick," I already know it and should probably work on things that I don't "know" as well. Basically the same strat I use at the gym.

As an EDM music producer from Brazil, I recently stumbled upon your channel and became a fan! Keep up the awesome work, and wishing you continued success!
Hey Carlo, nice upload as this will help many beginners to practise mixing. Though the volume fader and low EQ blending technique is simple, but it may not complement if mid band (frequency band) are not harmonic. In that case, EQ blending/swapping is preferred. Start with low EQ blend, swap high and then blend/swap mid EQ of both tracks. The blend or swap depends on track section, if we are nearing a drop then we can do swap or if it is standard section (32 beats) then we can blend EQs.
Thanks for the feedback bud! These are more advanced techniques that might need another video all for itself! I did touch on something similar with my mixing in key video.

Greetings Carlo. I'm an older guy with at least? 8 years of on air radio broadcasting experience playing various music formats from Rock ? To pop? And country as well as even old disco and 80s dance music . But I'm getting back into djing I use to house DJ in the old days using only techniques turn tables and that was 44 years ago. So now that I'm getting back into this ? Your tutorials are a great reference guide. Hopefully ? Down the road I won't run into ? Too many train wrecks since it's been a few decades. Anyway thanks for these tutorials.
@@djcarlo I agree 100% I plan on doing it and discovering new tricks? To add from time to time . But again? Thanks for putting out these videos they really are a great asset and reference .
I was just asked this Sunday at church if I could possibly do a DJ set for a youth dodgeball night that we are having soon! I am definitely going to be doing some drop mixing in there and will probably get a couple of a cappella‘s to! Thanks for the tips as always! I’m so excited!! 🌟🌟🌟
So this is a really good guide for DJs that step away (for whatever reason), to get us back to it again. Ty...BUT! lolz. You don't have to speed up the video. I get it, your trying to save the watcher time, but just let it play out. Here's why, It could let the watcher mix with you during the video. Also, it would make for a cool video imo. You pick a songs, and the watcher picks two songs to mix with yours. I'm NOT trying to be a smart-ass.
Thanks for the feedback! You hit the nail on the head with saving time, as not everyone will be able to mix WITH the video (especially if you're watching on the same laptop that you're mixing with). But I do appreciate this; I might make something out of this in a future tutorial video!
Not gonna lie this DJ tutorial helped me build my own brand, and helped me support my family and friends in need while they were struggling. I'm so happy for this tutorial, so in return I will send you 100 child soldiers by the end of tuesday , thank you darlings

Thx for your videos bro, hope i will be sucessfull and maybe get a weekend job at nightclub or something later!
Hey Carlo, I use SoundCloud for my music, what playlists do you recommend for instrumental stuff, because I am having trouble finding good beats. Btw your videos are great dude, thanks a ton.
Thanks for the pointers!! Although I wouldn’t encourage people to rip acappellas from online, hopefully they’d want to support the artists who made them and buy them or license them 🙌🏼
It's pretty difficult to get acapellas overall! I use RipX to get them from the songs I've already purchased in fact, but at the time, I did have to get my acapellas through *other* means. Glad you enjoyed the pointers though Salvo!
Thanks for the great tutorials! You are such a great, thorough teacher. Very easy to understand and to the point. Great speaker! Coincidentally, i smiled when i heard the sound Oye” in your tutorial. I was honored to direct, film, and edit their music video Oye 10 years ago! 😊
@@djcarloBtw, is the Pioneer Flx4 still your recommended choice for beginners? I am looking to just learn to DJ for a hobby/therapy for my mental health and maybe my twin autistic sons may like it as they both love music and can find another way to express their minds.

Glad the tutorials help Vincent! But the best thing to do is to practice every chance you get too! That'll be your best weapon
Ohhhh, that's different! Enjoy it bud, and make the best out of it! (Just protect your equipment from any stray dodgeballs!)
@@djcarlo Haha yeah! It’s two hours straight!
Carlo ily so much
Thanks Gina! Love the make up videos too!
I love this guy! i love you Carlo ❣❣
For sure Danny! Just make sure to do these religiously as a DJ!
PRO DJ'S = PRODUCER? DJ'S ?
PROfessional DJ's! Hahaha, not all DJs are producers!
this is quite more difficult that what I was expecting. MIND BLOWING
It's interesting really! A lot of folks think that DJing is really easy, but there's a lot more that goes on behind the scenes
Love your videos man. Thank you for all your guidance!
For sure Eraj! Always have more videos like this coming!
Thus might be the single best video I’ve ever seen on DJing.
Just gotta tell it like it is Vincent! Good advise always goes a long way!
great tips and it's like I will enjoy practice my homework, thanks
Yes please! Practice will always make perfect
Not gonna lie this DJ tutorial helped me build my own brand, and helped me support my family and friends in need while they were struggling. I'm so happy for this tutorial, so in return I will send you 100 child soldiers by the end of tuesday , thank you darlings
Dang! I'm really happy it helped Zelci, but PLEASE don't send me child soldiers. Send them back to their families!
@@djcarlo try and stop me

@@djcarlo sure, it' 5 years that I play a very console(the first is wast a "toy" but efficient 30$) and yes practice is the best thing to do to do and be better
The way I paused at 0:34 😭 I’ve never watched a echo activated backspin before 🤯🤝🏼

Maybe...maybe I am on the right trail! I am just starting out, and I love drop mixing for practice the most...maybe I'll be worthy to stand in your shadow someday dude....blessings from SoCal wine country..TEMECULA!
It always been my dream been dj at small partyes, never got the chance and now i decided to do it, i download the software and im startkng from cero, so your videos are great for me to try to understand how it works and became a semipro, right now im just using laptop, but i will buy a controler/console (cheap one) later. One of the days bud! That video might be a lot longer since there's a lot more practicing for advanced DJs, given the wide range of techniques!
@@djcarlo noted, I asked too much:p.Would you please teach us the basic scratch flow except baby?

Hey Carlo, I use SoundCloud for my music, what playlists do you recommend for instrumental stuff, because I am having trouble finding good beats. Btw your videos are great dude, thanks a ton.
Hmmmm, let me try to check. I don't usually check for instrumental playlists on SoundCloud
Hey Dj Carlos your videos are great and easy to understand thank you so much for this tips .

@@djcarlo Thanks mate , iam honoured you spent some time on my channel , keep rocking bud .

Oh man Ryan, I'm so sorry to hear that. Hope things are looking up for you bud! My heart goes out to you and your kids.
No way! That's so cool! Oye is such a great track!
@@djcarloBtw, is the Pioneer Flx4 still your recommended choice for beginners? I am looking to just learn to DJ for a hobby/therapy for my mental health and maybe my twin autistic sons may like it as they both love music and can find another way to express their minds.
Absolutely! It's a great controller
