Lord have mercy, I wanted to see it stacked against the RTX 2060.... Now I regret it lol. Thanks for keeping us informed!
yea same lmao i got a 10950k and 2060 i was thinking of getting this card but it would be pointless XD
That’s what the eventual RTX 3050 TI is for ;)
@@jackstell300 no reason for 3050ti . It's already close to 3060 msrp. They didn't leave anymore room
@@jackstell300 i don't think that we'll ever see a desktop 3050ti.
@@jackstell300 There won't be a 3050 Ti
To put it in perspective for those who are still stuck on Pascal, it's basically 1070/1070Ti performance, depending on game...it sits between GTX 1660s and RTX 2060 performance.
The GPU is definitely better than a gtx 1660s because of dlls
Pretty sure my 1070 is better then this trashcan of a thing would be nice to see a 12th gen cpu and a 1070 compare to this
@@MadQmike You have a Gamers Nexus review to check...it trades blows with 1070, somewhere it's slightly better, somewhere slightly worse. It still have advantages like NVENC and DLSS...
still better than my 1050 lol
LOL almost 6 years later and this piece of shit is not even 50% faster than a 1060 6gb.
Nvidia and RADEON have been dogshit for the midrange and low end this generation.
I'm still using the 1060 & 1070 in my two builds. Crazy how they still hold up very well for 1080p and even some 1440p gaming.
Pascal really was an incredible generation, I’m still using a 1080 and it holds up incredibly well. I can do 1080p and 1440p no problem and even 4K works in a lot of games with a mix of medium and high settings
just imagine how good this generation could’ve been if not for the chip shortage…
The market jumped over its head, NVidia and AMD basically raced themselves out of market. Game requirements didn't improve much, hardware prices exploded, and both NVidia and AMD found themselves alienated by the player base as nobody needs to buy the latest hardware, and the public doesn't have the spare cash to upgrade cards every 2 years.
I'm stuck with a 1050 2gb 🥲
@@TheBobcat418 Pascal was a mistake for nvidia. In their opinion, it probably was too good. They will never make that mistake twice.
Well. 3060 starts in europe usually at 650E. I can't imagine this having a price tag below 500E.
Prices seem to fall very slowly even with crypto crash so no choice but being patient.
I am all for a cryptocrash but even if it happens, I seriously doubt the prices will fall back to normal on the new market that is. Seeing how people are capable of buying 1200USD/€ cards, they will probably never go back to 200USD/€ low end cards anymore, and leave it at 400USD/€
The flood of mining cards will be plus I guess
@@nktslp3650 what do you mean?
@@nktslp3650 I don't think crypto crash people cares, mining is way profitable than ever
GPUs are being used in AI/ML applications, so even if the bottom fell out of the cryptocurrency market tomorrow, it would have no impact on pricing of GPUs. GPUs have better performance in AI/ML big data applications than CPUs.
@@64BBernard nonsense. That doesn't explain the vast increase in price. What changed was mining which got very lucrative during the pandemic.

New subscriber here, just wanted to say i appreciate how you get right to the point on your subjects. Keep up the great work. Looking foward to your future videos!
Blessings from Honduras good video man.
Perfect timing with this video, my 1060 6gb started just started dieing. Ill try factory reinstalling yet but I was looking to upgrade soon anyway
Great example showing the 3050+12100 performance as a realistic use case for someone just starting from zero, for everyone else with a running system with dedicated gpu this won't be much of upgrade unless you really want dlss
no one should be 'upgrading' to a 3050 for DLSS imo. The upscaling just isn't good enough for 1080p. For new builds though, this is a great entry level card. Right now in Australia it's actually $60 cheaper than the 1660 super, and $85 cheaper than a 2060.
Makes me wonder if we will end up ever seeing a 40 class gpu or if $250 will be the floor from now on

Mate can you do a small ITX super efficient build with the 12100F and 3050? It would be great to see just how small a system we can pack these in.
I bought the same model for $205 online sealed and perfectly functioning like it should. Worth it, got attached to it, Its very small and nice.
The great upgrade of my gtx 980 is coming ^^ Do I need sth more than rtx 3050 for video editing in Premiere Pro, n sometimes After Effects for Rotobrush and 3d camera track functions? Using 10 bit 4k h265 video files of a7sIII on my projects
Nice review! If you don't mind me asking, is the Dan A4-H2O review also coming soon by any chance?
This would be a huge upgrade for me. I'm still rocking my GTX 950 lol
Yo same but I just upgraded and its a huge jump with performance
yeah same, i see all these comments saying "wow so amazing how those 2 year old cards hold up to the newer ones", like bro, you buying a new card every year or something? My GTX960 still rocking all new games on medium settings.
Could you test the best slim 120mm fan? I saw Arctic released a new variant of their P12 called the P12 slim and I would like to see it against other competitors.
Would love to see you taking a look at the Lian Li Q58 case!
Best review and straight to the point
Market price in the states will prob be about 400 usd as thats about what you can expect to pay for a 2060 right now.
Looking to do a first sffpc (overall) build and wondering if you have any recommendations on a case?
I'd like to get a 3070 and Amy 5600x or 5800x in it and have it small enough to carry on a plane. Ok if it's a little bit of a hassle to carry on as it wouldn't be too frequent
Both recent "budget" offerings from AMD and NVIDIA are taking consumers for fools.
6500XT is terrible. 3050 is the best price perfomance from Ampere.
@@saricubra2867 Very interested to see how the pricing holds up though. If you can pick one up for anything close to MSRP (unlikely looking at trends) then yes, it's better than nothing but as long as you're not allergic to second hand less than a 2060.
Looking at the local stores here in my country, it seems like people are indeed fools themselves. I saw one person bought a 6500xt for $350. If this keep going, the prices now would be the norm for the next decade.

This is a good and honest card, even if you end up paying around $300. wow, I hit the jackpot over a year ago. Bought a new GTX 1660S for msrp and about a month later I won the newegg shuffle to buy the RTX 3060 for MSRP. still have both.
I feel like NewEgg sell those cards at resell price
Tell me about it i’m glad i have a 2080 TI to hold me down for 1440P gaming for a while

Big thankful I got my 2070 Super before all this mess happened. Still running strong, and I have no desire yet to game above 1080p with 144hz refresh rate.
Great 1440p card too.

I get the comparisons to older cards but at the moment with the market situation this is great value and who knows how long it will be before we can start buying gpus at msrp
One of the most sensible reviews and selection for test bench with the i3, I watched - "Gaming Performance: i3 vs i5, i7, i9 Intel 12th-gen" and understood why i3 fits perfect for 1080p gaming in 2022. Such quality content.
I bought this because I had little choice. My Gigabyte 2060 went belly up and I had nothing. At an inflated price that I could afford, I was was able to find this card in one place that was in stock.
The only good news for me is that I play older titles in 1080P but heavily modded so the 8Gb memory will probably help that. I am going to try to get my 2060 repaired but I don't know anyplace yet where I can send it.
Can we get this man to 1 million subs this year!!!
Where do you source/license your music from?
I love your videos so much
current situation certianly puts some previous activity in the used market in a different light, definitely remember when folks were selling 2080s/1080 Tis for cheap right before the 30 series launch, probably hurts now. I managed to get a 3080 from EVGA’s queue, and sold a 980 Ti to my buddy for cheap. But man I don’t think I even at my most pessimistic expected things to be this bad for this long!
I got an early RTX 3080 and then sold my 2080 for 450$ because I thought it’s value would plummet when the 3070 and 3060ti came out. Wanted to build my girlfriend a system 6 months later at the height of the GPU apocalypse, couldn’t get a card, and just said fuck it and bought her a 3060 gaming laptop. Still kicking myself for selling that card.
@@MechAdv Yeah, I don’t think anyone was thinking it would be this bad, I certainly don’t blame you for having done that at the time. The price to performance at the original 3080 MSRP was killer!
@@ImOnMy116 Yeah I won the F5 spam contest at Newegg before the shuffle was implemented. I was actually upset at the time because I got the worst 3080(MSI Ventus 3x OC) for the seemingly exorbitant markup of 750$ plus 20$ for shipping. Getting stiffed with the shipping really rubbed me the wrong way, now I laugh about it. I guess my good fortune called for a forward payment of giving another gamer a great deal too. Lol
This made me feel that my recent decision to but Intel NUC Enthusiasts that comes with GTX 2060 was really worth it.
Personably I just want a performance list where I can input my own prices it just makes it easier to see what’s a decent value now
Amazing how well the 1660 Super is holding up after over 2 years now, so happy I picked one up back then
Probably helps that the 16xx series focuses only on rasterisation performance. Feels like the RT cores on the 3050 are pretty much a waste of space. The puzzling thing is, I don't think the chip is even a cut down version from higher end cards? I suppose Nvidia and AMD have just decided they're never going to release non-raytracing cards again, got to tick that box on the back of the packaging.
@@liamness Yeah it sucks that Nvidia will probably never release any non-raytracing cards again, I'd rather sacrifice the RT cores for more performance in memory. It would be nice of them to release updated 16xx series GPU like GTX 26xx or 17xx but of course as you said it will probably never happen :/
In my country the Gigabyte Eagle 3050 retails at a min of USD 500 (RX 6600 at USD 600) and 3060 at USD1100 (presently)
An up to date 1660ti with 2gb more of vram. Be a dope card for a budget build if you could ever find it at msrp.
gotta love nvidia making a budget $250 card that can't be bought under $500 right after launch. at this point it's almost been 2 years like the market gotta go back to normality someday right?
@@Eric-xt8pg The card makers really capitalized on corona with so many people being home now.
Can tell you it's possible. I was checking few online retailers (few times a day) for last two weeks and today while not really expecting anything as it's Saturday I couldn't believe what I see , 3050 for £239 what is UK's msrp. It's a shite card but I have 780Ti which is complete rubbish at this point, £239 is acceptable price to pay and be done with it till next gen where I plan to get 4k setup. Would prefer RX 6600XT if I could find it around £300 but these are sitting at £449 minimum and it's too much for a throwaway card.
@@SirSleepwalker bro resell it thats a steal. u can resell it new for like 450-500 and save that towards a better card

I would still love to get this if it's priced under $400 near me. A brandnew 1660S will cost me about $480. Currently using only integrated graphics.
dang thats tuff. I mean a gtx 1070 price isnt bad rn for me
There will be a handful at 250 but even the basic oc versions are 325 350 and the strix is close to 500 which is ridiculous.
It's a little bit sad that a new generation graphics card is comparable to a 3 years old graphics card of the same price like the 1660s (in theory the same price), but at least the 3050 is compatible with dlss so hopefully it's a better option in the long term (i mean that it will hopefully age way better).
i'd be ok of keeping the same performance of older cards, but they at least need to consumer much less electricity
I'm really happy with my 2080 super that I bought 2 years ago. Didn't even thought I would be that happy because I originally planned a build with a 2080ti.
Good for you, I sold my 2080 Super at the worst possible time before prices skyrocketed because I wasn't gaming at the time. Now I can't play anything because it's unaffordable.
@@Dionyzos oof
3060 is 200-220% higher priced than the 3050 in Norway. It's not bad for the price point in the current market. Way better offering than 6500 XT in every aspect.
Honestly might get this card. I wanted a 1660s, but it's now $700. I only want high fps in esports games, and only need 30fps in other games. good upgrade from my gtx 580.
DLSS is really the killer feature here if you can get a 3050 for a decent price. DLSS quality (for games that support it) with optimized settings can probably get you to 1440p/60fps in everything but Cyberpunk.
I’d rather just play at native 1080p than 1440p with DLSS. I feels it’s massively overhyped marketing bullshit just like ray tracing. I run native 1440p on my 3070
@@GMoneyy3000 agree, I tried it on bf2042 1440 p and it makes it ship. A lot of shadowing.
isn't that RT + DLSS the equivalent of playing at a lower resolution scale with an high antialiasing multiplier? I don't have a ray tracing capable card (not at decent framerates) but this seems like a cheap trick to me
@@GMoneyy3000 It really isn't (most of the time). The most recent version or two of DLSS "quality" actually looks better than native resolution in some games. It's 95-100% the quality of native res in most others. I have a 3060 ti and use DLSS where possible because I get 20%+ better performance most of the time with no visual change that I've noticed.
If you want to pixel peek or analyze blown up screenshots you might find some differences, but just playing a game like you normally would it'll basically look the same other than the higher framerate.
@@amnottabs DLSS doesn't really work like anti-aliasing at all. Digital Foundry has some pretty good videos on what it actually does and why it's better than any other "upscaling" solution available right now.
I feel lucky I found a 3060 last year local for 350 brand new unopened and works good enough for me with my i5 10600k
Would be nice to see an i3 + 350 budget build.
The best way to describe this 3050 would be: This is a 1070 wigh RT. Exact same performance in non-RT titles.
Would this gpu work with the mother asus a320m-k ?
Just scored one for a little bit more then retail pretty happy with it so far

What about undervolting and Power efficiency?
It's sad that here in Australia, retailers are selling the RTX 3050 at an equivalent of US$440. Disgusting for them to scalp their own cards!
Its so funny how I can purchase a pre build PC for around 1500€ with a 3070 card in it, but the card itself sells for like 2000€ upwards on ebay
Cause ebay is full of eejits. I was talking about it with a mate who used to flip/sell overpriced stuff on ebay, he still can't grasp how the hell he was making so much money doing that bs.
This is the first card in my country that is being sold 10% above the msrp, right now i could buy 3 3050's for the price of a single 3060, above that 2 of these cards costs around 1 gtx 1660S.
Can't find an affordable upgrade to my 8 year old GTX1080. It still does really good so might aswell keep using it.
Wait for Intel Arc GPUs!
Well , I wont be changing my 1660 super soon . Bought it brand new for 270$ before the gpu madness .
I just want a cheap GPU to use to render my OBS with I have a 3090 to game on but just want a GPU to do all the render work on cause my OBS is stacked
In my perspective it has a whole lot of features that I might want for 250 dollars(if i could get it at that price)
Well I just got it for about $330 on newegg and that was the cheapest one they offered. Probably should have just spent an extra $140 or so on the 3060.
Right now, Newegg has 3 6600 cards under $500 so that makes more sense to me.
Knowing that Microcenter was selling those Asus 2060 for a ridiculous $440 all of 2021...well they somehow look competitive after seeing the 3050 numbers. And the fact that the 3050 will never be available at $249. I'm betting it's at least $350 or $450 even. Frankly kind of sad how things have played out since Summer 2021.
I just build a new "budget" rig and I bought my 3050 at price 300$ in malaysia as the price for 1660ti/super is still around 480 to 500$ here. Thats just crazy right. 2060 is still around 520 together with 6600xt...
Eventhough the performance is just okay, i dont want to be stuck to 6500xt or 1050ti which is much worse imo....
For this new build, i am content with the performance.
may i know, 3050 run "cyberpunk2077" at 1080p highsetting on RayTracing,DLSS can keep in 60fps up?
I bought a 1660s 2 years ago before march for $250 and it was worth it
Seeing how our recently broken GTX 1660 Super bought at MSRP in 2020 still fare up pretty well with recently released cards makes me want to bury myself
anyone know what time itll release in UK?
I have a 1660s and wanted to upgrade but there’s been no option in the last 2 years to do so without spending like 600€ for a 3060 while i bought my 1660s for 230€ i mean i can spend 250/300 but doubling just to get a meaningful performance difference seems stupid to me
When i serch rtx 3050 i only see prices like 450 dolars or 500. From where do you buy this with a very low price ???
I have a 980 iam trying to do vr at better settings and or atleast record gameplay would I be ok with this if I can get at 250 or wait
would you swap the DLSS version? The lastest version is so much better.
It's better in motion. It doesn't have superior image reconstruction. A static scene would look the same.
Normal people don't manually change dlss versions in games, so doing so and calling it "stock" comparisons would be just as silly as reviewing this with a maximized overclock.
Thanks for using the i3 12100
crevette stated speeds are only valid for new over priced pciE4 motherboard's.. not usually paired seriously with any low end gfx cards at any price.
everyone should be leading with RTX 3050 Is a X8 pciE4 card... what current motherboard vendor ships a x8 pciE4 open slot, wasting x8 in a x16 slot that can be better used by other cards
I bought a RTX 3050 due to it was at a lower price than the gtx1660supper and it is a newer card cheaper. In gaming most of the time it does better. I am thinking of building another box and putting in an AMD 6800 in it just for gaming. If you look the newer cards are cheaper than the older ones. I do not know why?
Really hope I can get the rtx 3050 for msrp. I brought a used 960 on ebay last month and its barely pushing 70fps on apex.
Highly unlikely, I don't expect retailers to price this card lower than a 1660. I expect it to cost more than a 6600.
You need to keep looking, the msrp ones are without any overclock on it and these will disappear quickly after restock. Need to get lucky but it's defo possible to get it.
My RTX 2080 Ti’s still slaying the games I play. Not gonna upgrade for 2 more years ig. By then, I seriously hope this GPU madness settles.
