    It’s refreshing to have a review of a budget card where the reviewer isn’t whining about it’s performance at “Ultra settings with Uber high resolution texture packs!”
    This is relevant, especially after the same channels that panned budget cards ran a piece saying “it’s stupid to run max settings.”

    • @pottingsoil723
      @pottingsoil723 2 года назад

      Ya I hate that. I get that it's useful for pushing cards to their limit to chart their performance but it heavily skews the results.
      For example a GTX 1060 might get ~75 FPS @ Medium/High settings and barely 40 FPS at Ultra and yet there's only a slight increase in visual quality between the two, or perhaps you have to sacrifice something dumb like volumetric fog or not use things like TAA.
      Conversely, something like an RTX 3080 might get 157 FPS @ Medium/High settings and 110 FPS at Ultra (theoretically, same game as the GTX 1060)
      So it makes the GTX 1060 look way way worse than it actually is. Like I said, it skews the results and doesn't show good real-world examples, which makes people think they NEED those 80-class and 800-class cards to get an enjoyable experience.

    • @kevinmax101
      @kevinmax101 2 года назад +2

      Raytracing is the gimmick, RT cores have a ton of useful, but situational features.
      Most importantly, DLSS helps with 1440p and even VR (if you can set it up correctly).
      There's also stuff like Nvidia broadcast if you do streaming.
      I own both a 1660s and 2070s and personally, I find these features very useful.
      If we were in an ideal world, this is definitely a buy vs the already very good value 1660s since they are priced very closely. But again, reality sucks.

    This card would be great for a mini-ITX PC build. But it's not available in the U.S., so I'll have to be willing to pay a huge markup on eBay or Amazon UK (shipped to the US).

    The rtx 3050 is 303 dollars where I live. This is after import fees and vat fees. The import fees in my country is 78 dollars on average so the rtx 3050 is 230-250 dollars when the retailer gets it brand new.

    Unfortunately already the scalpers have bought most of them up and have reposted these cards marked up by as much as several hundred dollars more.

      The retail price was absurd anyway. Nobody should be buying this garbage.

    I snagged a RTX 3050 for $249 today at Newegg. Out of curiosity I called the CS line and they said they had quite a bit left that they are going to use for more Newegg Shuffles coming up.

      Congrats, that was an extremely lucky find, you're probably within the 1% of people to buy a new GPU at MSRP in the last 2 year's

    The trouble with the way things are now nothing released so far has been relevant to me upgrading my 8gb RX 580, anything at the low end costs more and has not enough of a performance/feature lift to justify it and anything higher up the chain is so bloody expensive it's literally not worth it, they still are not 3-4 times better for 5 times the real price, it's just scalpers and black marketeers jacking up prices because noone is stopping them.
    Nice to see a board partner sending you product tho mate, nice and about time.

    1000 cards for the whole UK, good luck folks this is the GPU market and it will not change. I have a 3070 and enjoy it a lot but you have to pay the premium.

    WOW I have ordered an MSI GeForce RTX 3050 GAMING X 8G, 8GB GDDR6 and will use it on my older and weaker PC from AMD FX 8350 which I will keep as a backup for playing older games and maybe even newer ones that do not need such high demands on full details. A year ago I tried to put an RTX 3070 there and the performance went pretty low. I achieved better performance with the weaker AMD RX 5700 XT but I don't have it here anymore. I put the RTX 3070 in the AMD Ryzen 5 3500X where it works very well
