    Outside of performance terms, the aesthetics of the card are quite attractive, especially for people like me who are a bit tired of seeing RGB everywhere.

      Yeah rgb 🤮 not every component needs to be covered in it... ish. People who like it fine that's great but company's should make modular parts where there can be a rgb free version.

      RGB is okay as long as it's not forced cycling rainbow stobing effects, and with the option for static color or to turn it off completely, can't be mad at a feature that you can turn off. I always liked reference cards because of the maturity of their design while outside vendors usually cater to children with juvenile themes. I think this card looks nice, But next time around I hope they use more aluminum and less plastic and no double sided tape. Even with the negatives of this launch they surpassed all my expectations.

    Despite not being a home run, I'm excited to see a third player in the GPU market. I have strong hopes that Intel will eventually bring us better GPUs in the future

      @@guyknightley3499 I mean, at the mid to low range AMD is actually outperforming Nvidia in the price-performace battle, even at the high end it is very competitive. That said, they need to improve their RT support and FSR 2.0, that's for sure. Hopefully 7000 series will bring that.

      ​@@RandomGaminginHD ​ Several large companies tried and failed miserably to claw their way into the GPU market after the Radeon/Geforce duopoly was established in the 2000s, Search for a review of the 'Volari Duo' to see how that went, SiS was a big semiconductor company back then. Given how vastly higher the bar is for compatibility and performance these days, I am actually impressed by Arc's out of the gate state. Drivers are rough but they show promise, intel just needs to Stick it through and they will be a slugging it out with Nvidia and AMD at the top in a few years no worries.

    Thanks for actually testing DXVK on intel arc, something I don't think many if any other reviewers have bothered to do. I'd like to see more DXVK results also from you if possible on Arc.

      I'm grateful that DXVK on Windows now has a purpose but it's also unfortunate it won't work on games with Anti-cheat and stuff like that...

      @@GorujoCY2 True, but it isn't DXVK that causes the issues, it's the Anti-cheat DRM, get mad at that, not DXVK.

      I would say DXVK is an absolute must for Arc in GTA4, as it does not natively support DX9 and emulates it. Suppose Intel's rational was because 99% of DX9 games are featherweights next to the fat cow that is GTA4. Even modded Oblivion or Crysis OG in DX9 mode [where the demanding settings are not available] are no where near the FPS crushing boulders that is GTA4.

      @@anasevi9456 For GTA 4 DXVK is a must, it even runs bad on my Strix RX580 while with DXVK almost all the FPS loss and stuttering goes away, but it's also the devs fault, they updated the game and instead of actually making it good they never cared. The latest release was like 2020 not that long ago yet the game still got stuck to 32bits and the original same crap badly optimized coding...

    Thanks for including GTA IV and DXVK… more people should know about it!
    I personally use DXVK for some time now but I think it would be very interesting for many of your subscribers too. Maybe you could do a dedicated video about DXVK and some games that benefit from it the most - it's fascinating technology but far too few people know about it at all.

      i wonder if this will fix my issues with Wolfenstein. I have unplayable reloading times with Wolfenstein 2009 with my RX6600. This might possibly fix this.

      DXVK does wonders on games that perform poorly on whatever the DirectX version they have, a good example is The Evil Within 2 which runs very poorly but DXVK really helps with performance.

      if these ARC GPUs had come out a few months earlier, I’d’ve picked one up. Instead I got my cheeks clapped raw by Nvidia and EVGA with an RTX 3070ti. (EVGA because my upgrade program would have cost me $500 to step up to a card that, at the time of my 90-day upgrade program expiry, was CHEAPER than the price I paid for my 3070ti).

    I think that with future driver updates, these cards will actually do really well, it's clear that they have the power to do 1440p, maybe even 4k, and for the price they are at, it might be a steal once the drivers improve

    I got the Arc A770 on backorder. I def intend to follow up with it with regards to drivers. I'm with you in that I too find it fascinating. Really hope Intel keeps down this path and improves.

    CSGO has a vulkan renderer that can be enabled via adding -vulkan as a launch command. It's mostly there for Linux but worth trying with Arc. Unfortunately I haven't seen any reviewers benchmark with this option yet but I figure I'll make mention of it.

    I mean , for a first gen product, it is pretty decent it seems to me. Sure, the drivers need to be tuned further, but that is completely understandable.

    More videos regarding Intel ARC A750 graphic card would be appreciated. Definitely I would like to see reviewers testing the performance of this graphic card with 10th gen Intel chipset (eg. i3 10100 & i5 10400F) given that 10th gen Intel is the minimum requirement for ARC graphic card series.

    Man I've been trying to get an Intel GPU. Its been on backorder since the 12th. Its surprising to see someone else who actually has one.
    They're seemingly far more scarce than the 30 and 6000 series at launch.

    Seeing a dxvk comparison was quite interesting. Makes me wonder if the overall gaming experience might actually be better with this hardware under GNU / Linux rather than Windows at this point in time. It's a shame there aren't all that many people outside of phoronix posting GNU / Linux benchmarks for Arc hardware.

      Not just Arc hardware ... youtube is lacking linux benchmarks of pretty much any interesting hardware, really.
      either this, or the almighty algorithm just hides those videos from me.
      Are the new "open source" nvidia drivers better than their proprietary crap and do the new drivers make VR work again on linux? - who knows?
      How well does linux cope with intel's E+P core bullshit ? - who cares?
      ARM is doing that kind of stuff for ages and linux runs just fine there sooooo it'll be fine on intel - no need to test it or anything - right?

    It's going to be interesting to see how the drivers on these improve over time and how well they age. I personally don't think I'll be buying an ARC GPU as my next upgrade, but it's nice to see some competition in the GPU market, maybe in a few months time the drivers and optimizations would've gotten better making it a little more usable. For the price though, this is a very good GPU.

    You should try the dxvk tweak on more games, I do feel like it is an underrated card and if it just got better driver updates it would be much better.

    As a linux gamer, I'd love to see more dxvk related videos since that would help me choose which gpu to buy next. I'd love to have competition in gpu space and if dxvk performance is solid across the board and maybe vkd3d as well(once some driver related issues are fixed), the answer will be clear.

    Dont forget about the AV1 decoding, that is its main feature, buy it as 2nd GPU, if needed, and use it to stream!

      Yeah it's fantastic and efficient, not sure that you can use it on Twitch or anything yet so give it some time, Maybe RUclips you can but I see most streamers prefer twitch or something

      *encoding, that's what's special to Arc. Decoding exists on RDNA2 as well, maybe also Ampere.

    It's worth mentioning, that drivers are open source (excluding firmware). So we can see a huge performance boost in upcoming months, especially for Linux. Also we won't be stuck in drivers hell, like it is with Nvidia now.

      The Linux driver is open source. The Windows one is not, and that's where most people will be using these cards. Improvements in the Linux driver also don't necessarily translate into the Windows one. AMD's OpenGL performance on Windows was woeful on Windows until recently when they fixed it, but it's been fine for years on Linux.

    Apart from the drivers needing a bit of work this seems like a promising competitor against AMD or NVIDIA. Soon the ARC cards or anything intel releases afterwards will be a solid choice for gamers.

    I've already ordered my A770 16Gb. Am I foolish, possibly but I think it's great to have another player in the market. I'm lucky to have a 3080 and 2060 Super as my main cards, but the Arc GPU's offer something a little different. I'm glad they've taken the view of supporting modern and upcoming games first and then working their way backwards. Design is brilliant, I hope it picks up a bit of a following if only to keep the other 2 honest, but they have a long road ahead with the drivers.

    It is nice to see Intel try it out on the Market. I mean AMD and Nvidia rules the roost and even smaller "2d" GPU makers have stopped their own R&D and use GCN cores these days.
    So, Intel with its huge install base of IGP's has SOME knowledge!

      @@mattBLACKpunk he probably refers to Matrox. They currently have Nvidia cards with modified BIOS, but a few years ago used modified AMD Chips. As in they were not Standard GPUs with only different Software but much more custom.

    I wonder how the card will do under Linux. Because anything direct X related, runs through vulkan, making dx11 and dx9 games may actually run much better than on windows.

      the A380 did pretty well according to Phoronix's tests, just needs more optimisations - especially with openGL

      @@flintfrommother3gaming Most rolling / semi-rolling distributions should have 6.0 pretty soon, it really isn't all that much of an issue unless you use a distribution with a fixed release cadence.

      @@montagyuu5163 you can certainly install a later Linux kernel into any distro. Well, maybe you can't but it is a fairly trivial thing to do regardless. The ARC needs the git dev version of MESA to work too.

    Their performance is very late 90s early 00s, in the sense of only being good in some games and poor in others. So the box is fitting! A good and informative video as always Sir!

      yeah... pretty disappointed with my A750 so far. Tried to test it with Arkham Knight and the game won't launch at all. Tried it with Resident Evil 2 Remake and it runs at a pretty solid 120fps, but with Elden Ring the performance might be worse than my old 1060

    the very fact you used dxvk makes you the best reviewer of the gpu i am proud you have come so far .. also add guild wars 2 to the bench it's very heavy game more so then most titles

      They won't run well at all cause they don't have driver support and I doubt intel would go back and give support to all them old titles except some very popular ones. But for future dx12 titles and going forward I think arc would be pretty great.

    I wonder if the best scenario for ARC GPUs right now is to use the card under Linux with Proton and use DXVK with all games. Might be interesting to see.

      DXVK for Windows users if you want to see the improvement and your game doesn't have an Anti-cheat or some sort that prevents modification
      Linux users aren't going to have to worry about anything since all games Proton or not run in Vulkan

    The lack of proper support for older games is a complete deal breaker IMO - having access to a massive library of older games that can look and run their best years later on modern hardware is my #1 favourite thing about the PC platform - They really need to address this

      That's the price you pay for existing in a closed source ecosystem. Your binary code base goes out of date. It's just dumb. You're willfully turning your computer into a planned obsolescence appliance. Commercial developers are laughing all the way to the bank at your expense too. Congratulations!

    I would like to see how the pre DX9 games play, such as GTA 3, Rainbow Six 1, Frogger, NFS3, Half-Life, etc. I have not seen any videos or benchmarks on them

      that is because intel did not made dx9 drivers, they run on a emulation sort of mode to run on dx11, as you saw on the gta 4, it runs like garbage
      they never had support for that and you can see it, they went for dx11/12 and vulkan
      tbh, only few games of that era are still relevant, but shows how intel had to focus effort on just part of the games, and proves that their drivers leave everything to be desired

      @@arch1107 yes such old games have very little relevance but many GOG games still use the old renderers. Plus other Gog games have a DirectX9 transformation layer and I am curious about how it performs, then there is nGlide

The 12400f/6600xt build if done smartly with a 1tb nvme can easily be done new for $600 right now. Used I can build a 5600X/3060ti system for the same price or $700 for a 3070 build…crazy to think I was fighting daily to buy $750 ftw3 3060ti’s to sell at $800 (unopened)

    I have the A770... it's a mess. For some games its great. When it's bad. It's BAD. Random crashes, bad frame pacing, and yes, it cries like a baby under load. That's OK with me though. I expected it to be miserable.

    I absolutely love these designs. Intel hit it out of the park when it comes to giving you a lot for what you’re paying; an Av1 encoder, plentiful vram, and really nice sleek designs. Hopefully once the drivers improve, early adopters will have a cheaper, more powerful card than a lot of the competition (I’d also love to see these cards in white, their clean aesthetic would work great in an all white build)

    csgo automatically caps fps nowadays for all gpus.
    Most of my nvidia gpus have been capped to 400 fps, whereas amd gpus previously have been capped at much lower, and needed to always manually uncap

      @@RandomGaminginHD You should also try dxvk-async as it is supposed to eleminate more compiling stutter. I am very curius if it really does improve performance in non-optimized games. If yes, I wonder why Intel is not officially using this. It would alleviate most of their problems until they optimize their driver for all games.

    I agree. These are probably the only GPUs ever that will get better, not worse, over time. And yes, that DXVK stuff is MAGIC. Is that available for other games? I'd love to hear more about that.

      DXVK works with any DirectX 9, 10, and 11 game. I use it for a lot of my library since it can actually help with performance depending on the title.

      @@1pcfred DX9 is still used in some very popular games. Team Fortress 2 and CS:GO are still played by millions and they exclusively use DX9. Also, a lot of people still play older games. The idea of not wanting to play or support a game just because it's old is baffling to me.

    Thank you for actually reviewing the card, instead of the usual RUclips tech suspects whining about a benchmark number. Those numbers tell us what they tell us, but at the end of the day, those numbers mean jackshit.
    I also appreciate your remark about how in a few years this card will probably be looked at more fondly, due to early ARC drivers. I'm going to keep those usual tech suspects in mind 5 years from now and see if they sing a different tune. I assure you, one of them will have the gall to say, "I never thought the A750 was bad!" Right, right.

    🤔Like you said, its up to them to fix a lot of things but it truly is their first effort at doing discrete. I was not expecting a flawless launch and the RT is good/media engine is good. I look forward to seeing what they do in the next 8 months or so.

    Intel should put DXVK or something similar into their drivers (if it's possible) for DX9 games. They said that they won't be working on native DX9 support, so that's better than relying on the Windows' DX9 emulation.

    I think Saints Row 2 also could use that, otherwise GTA IV must be run with it for no stuttering.

    This is definitely not even on the radar of enthusiasts like me who has a 3080 Ti and plan to get a 4090, but it is INCREDIBLE for the GPU market. I'm so glad to finally see a third party getting involved as this will only drive competition and either lower prices or speed up innovations. Either way, it's a win for consumers.

    I bought an A750 and have been very happy with it. The encoding quality and speed is better than my 3090... For gaming I obviously use the 3090, but that cost me $1600. I've tested it out for gaming though, and have enjoyed it, the performance was around 3060-3060 Ti levels and I only had one bug in my first week of use.

    I love Intel is back in the GPU market. I still have one 740 AGP in my collection.
    Regarding this new ARC models, as showin in some reviews, my main dislike is the unnecesary mechanical complexity. Disassembling these cards to clean the fans is a nightmare, and the extra cost added completely unnecessary, imho.
    Regading drivers, I am confidents things are going to improve significantly, but you cannot fix afterwards hardware choices.
    I wish Intel the best in this front. Fair competition is very welcomed and great news for everyone.

    Radeon still beats Arc on price to performance. Which is probably why Intel didn't mention AMD at all in their presser. Seems like DXVK fixes a lot of its issues, but unfortunately that relegates the card to hobbyists, since not a ton of people know about it. I haven't seen many videos exploring Linux performance. Proton includes DXVK by default with the game download. Depending on the situation with the MESA drivers, I wonder if Linux might actually be the best use case for Arc.

    I think these cards look great, I prefer the A770 with the subtle lighting around the fans, but really like the clean minimalist look that they have going on. Performance seems pretty good too, definitely usable. Im still using my trusty 1080ti till I can afford to upgrade my power supply and gpu. Appreciate all the videos and your humour!

    It's kind of fun to use DXVK to translate API and not impact it negatively, but boost it a lot on ARC. "I just wonder how it would work better on other games." It shows proof that ARC on Linux is something that could work well. I wonder if there is a way to run DXVK on Windows.
