  • Hello everyone and welcome to something quite strange for Budget Builds where today for the first time since the 200GE ive actually got a brand new "Budget Tier" Graphics Card for review. Thanks to Palit (the creators of many good cards but above that Frobot the Robot) I've had some time with the card to get a pretty indepth review of the RTX3050 out, from GTA 5 through to RDR2, from DLSS though to Comparisons it certainly is a feature packed one. $420-450 plus tax in Canada for RTX 3050. Not worth it at all. A Radeon RX 6600 8GB can be had for around $375 plus tax- that's $400 flat with tax. The prices are hot shit in this country. CPUs can be had for a decent price, however. I recently saw the Ryzen 5 5600X for $238 and there have been crazy deals on some Intel chips over the past year or two- like less than $200 for an i5-9400.

    I have to say, I really do feel like this is a good card considering the ridiculous market.
    Just two years ago I picked up three r9 280x cards for £35 each, a GTX 1050 for £35, and a 1660 super for £225. All of these cards went to friends and family for free or what I bought them for. It makes thinking an RTX 3050 at £250 being a bargain very strange.
    I kept the sole retsined R9 280X for my daily driver rig as the dvi port is dead, and I considered downgrading to an R9 270x (that I picked up for £65) so I could move the R9 280x on to someone who could use it better. Incredibly the R9 270x is a sapphire toxic card, and it is far, far to nice to be kept by me. It overclocks like a beast and remains under 50°c at 100% load so I can't keep it to run rimworld and stardew valley because what a WASTE

Excessive consumerism is mind boggling for me, but there really is an element of planned obsolescence involved too :/ As mentioned in this video, the support drop for the R9/R7 era graphics cards by AMD is extremely pointless and will add to the ewaste epidemic.
      People get a real sense of accomplishment and reassurance that their given Thing could do the thing even though it won't ever need to. Seeing the price for 'budget cards' in stores being nearly the same price as my card and how much use I've gotten out of the RTX features (DLSS, RTX voice & the encoders for streaming/recording) I am VERY happy with my purchase years on.

    I would've gone with this card if it weren't for nvidia not making a whole new die for it, its using the RTX 3060 die so its going to be low supply. I went with the RX 6500XT instead, I got it for 230$ which isn't terrible but it was better than the other prices. the 6500Xt is the only new budget option, nvidia's answer is already 500$...

    • @iAMaReaperGotprobZ
      @iAMaReaperGotprobZ 2 года назад +2

      I hope the 6500xt serves you well and I know not everyone is in a position to wait or spend more money but in the future the 6500xt resell price is probably gonna go down so much because it lacks many crucial features, cards that are maybe older than 5 years can match it's performance and more because they don't have a tiny memory buffer as well as encoding engine etc... So, your card is temporary but you might end up not saving much money at all than if you were to buy something like RX 6600 right now as you will lose money on the 6500xt + 200-400$ spent replacing it.
      Just in my opinion, if it is possible to get a good deal on a RTX 3050, RX 580, 1060 6GB, 1660/S/Ti or even maybe 1650 it is a much better option than 6500xt and if you can't then you might as well spend 600$ on RTX 6600/6700 or RTX 3060/Ti

      i didn't want to spend more than 300$ on a graphics card and I don't want to buy a used one either
      and yes it is serving me well, out of the demanding games i've tested (not many) it has been an improvement over my 1050ti. the only game that hasn't seen improvement is minecraft with shaders. and i'm on a gen 3 system (will be switching to a gen 4 system soon and giving my ryzen 5 2600X and motherboard to a friend stuck on an FX 8300)
      and I find your last comment to be an example of the ignorance towards the 6500XT, you're recommending someone how decided to get THE 6500XT, let me repeat that, THE 6500XT, to instead spend 600$ on a 6600/XT or 3060/Ti.
