For everyone who is wondering, the use of higher dpi as opposed to just changing sensitivity is the cursor doesn't skip over as many pixels as you move it. However, anything over a few thousand dpi isn't typically used as the difference is negligible.

This is just feasible because there are a lot of cars sold. Impossible for Lamborghini with just a dozen or a few hundred cars sold of each line.

4:54 about dpi: its just a number that looks good to naive consumers of the product. yes a higher range is good to have, but a gamer would usually play with a low dpi, involving larger arm moments. think of it like this: if you have 5 buckets in a row, and you have to throw a single ball such that it lands in at least one of them; thats gaming with low dpi. now imagine you have the same 5 buckets in a row, but this time you have 5 balls and you have to throw them all together, in order for them to land on the same bucket; thats high dpi. so the dpi number is just something that companies add to the spec sheet. its like a 100mp main sensor on a camera, when actually only 20 mp is actually used to click pictures. it just makes the product more attractive the things that matter in gaming mice are: weight, lag/ delay (if wireless), the type of switches they use, the shape, longevity and durability, material, etc

4:54 about dpi: its just a number that looks good to naive consumers of the product. yes a higher range is good to have, but a gamer would usually play with a low dpi, involving larger arm moments.
think of it like this: if you have 5 buckets in a row, and you have to throw a single ball such that it lands in at least one of them; thats gaming with low dpi. now imagine you have the same 5 buckets in a row, but this time you have 5 balls and you have to throw them all together, in order for them to land on the same bucket; thats high dpi.
so the dpi number is just something that companies add to the spec sheet. its like a 100mp main sensor on a camera, when actually only 20 mp is actually used to click pictures. it just makes the product more attractive
the things that matter in gaming mice are: weight, lag/ delay (if wireless), the type of switches they use, the shape, longevity and durability, material, etc
