      I would be interested in seeing that graph again but all GPUs capped at the same frame rate to see if there is any difference in latency between the different generational architectural pipelines.

    4:22 the reason the 3070 is so close to the 4070 is because the textures aren't actually loading in which means it doesn't have to render as much as the 4070 which results in much better performance for the 3070 than in actuality

      has nothing to do with VRAM, this bug appeared for me on my 3080ti as well. TLUO PC port is just buggy and the hair texture thing effects cards at random.

    Shamelessly stolen from pauls hardware:
    The GTX 970 (2014, $330) was 21% faster than the GTX 780 (2013, $650)
    The GTX 1070 (2016, $380) was 29% faster than the GTX 980 (2014, $550)
    The RTX 2070 (2018, $500) was 16% faster than the GTX 1080 (2016, $600)
    The RTX 3070 (2020, $500) was 26% faster than the RTX 2080 (2018, $700)
    However, 4070 is basically identical to 3080 for just 100$ less. I guess it's a good graphics card, but NVIDIA have robbed us of most of the performance per $ improvements with this insane pricing.
    I hope people don't buy them so NVIDIA is forced to lower the price, but given how well the "bad value" 3060 sold, I'm not holding my breath.

      Technically the 3060 has aged better than the 3060ti, 3070 and 3070ti. The 12GB of vram allows the 3060 to run more stable on newer games. Sure lower FPS, but far less stutters and graphic issues.

      Even at $500 I think this card would be far more compelling and somewhat fairly priced. Like someone else said, though, I think this level of performance should have probably been the 4060 Ti at $400 and the 4070 Ti should have been the 4070 at $550.

    Just upgraded from GTX1080/I7-6700K :) to the 4070TI/I9-13900KF. Went prebuilt route this time and I'm satisfied. It was time for an upgrade. The 1080 is still kicking it though. Amazing card over all these years. Have not turned on the Series X since. I spotted my old Voodoo 1 & 2 3dfx cards in my garage a few week ago.

      The 1080 was an incredible card. One of the fans broke on it probably a year ago but still manages to stay at optimal temps while holding 90-120fps at 1440p depending on the title. I now have a 4070 on a i7-13700k and plays everything I want it to. (shame the games don't live up to the potential of gaming performance...)

      @@zap900 4 games have launched in the last 3 months with high required VRAM allocations. I wouldn't be so sure of that. UE5 games are bound to blow by those 8GB VRAM buffers on anything higher than Low or Medium settings 1080p.

    I wonder the power draw of the 6950 xt if the performance is capped to that of the 4070, whether through capping the wattage drawn through adrenaline or capping the fps in-game. Usually they push the power on those high end cards for the last 10% of performance.

    My guess is that they aren't releasing the true 4070 and this one was perhaps originally supposed to be the 4060 Ti.
    That would match up with the TDP, compact size, same CUDA cores

    I wouldnt think twice between the 4070 and 4070ti - because everything that will stutter 2 years from now in 4k will also not run smooth on the 4070ti either. there is not enough raw power difference there, and maybe more decisive, the same amount of rather skimpy 12GB of VRam. the 4070 seems to be the more round package. 100$/€ less would have been nice though. but its understandable, there is no direct competitor in that price range.

    Sold my 1080 ti to my brother for $200. So I ended up only having to pay $400 for the 4070. It’s perfect for my needs. The power efficiency is amazing as well as thermals. I don’t play super high refresh rate competitive games. Maybe 120 fps at 1440p. I’m more of the single player type. And with DLSS 3.5 right around the corner with the new Cyberpunk DLC I couldn’t be happier. Now I can comfortably skip the next couple generations of GPU’s until we get a 4090 performance card at a 70 series price point.

    The result for 1440p no RT Cyperpunk is strange. I looked at few other reviews and at 1440p they all had 6950XT actually leading by 15 to 20%, pretty big performance disparity for it to be losing by that amount instead.

    Ok it can do pathtraced CP at 30fps base but why only test the most extreme settings? people who dont like inserted frames wont like that framerate.

    not tryna shill but since you compared it against the 4070 ti, you should have also compared it to the 7900 xt which is also 800$ now, also should have mentioned the 4gb more vram on the 6950 xt, otherwise great video

      He also needs to fix his Cyberpunk Benchmark. No reason why Tech Jesus and Hardware Unboxed both get 20%+ on the 6950xt over the 4070 yet he gets the opposite. Makes him less trustworthy as it is not the first time he somehow got completely different results as the most trusted channels once again.

    I switched from NVIDIA to AMD. I feel that AMD give more value and performance with their last gen. But, i don't like that AMD holding back on their 7800 XT and 7700 XT cards.

      @@anuzahyder7185 AMD Cards are often like 1/3 cheaper than their Nvidia counterpart cards, in some games they even perform better. They also offer much more Vram which is more future proof

      Would you rather they fail their release of those two the same as the 7900? 'cause it's pretty well accepted that they messed up and are trying to cope in software (drivers) and perhaps in hardware (N32).
      Honestly, I want more power for VR at lower wattage, so I'm waiting for 4060, 4060 Ti and 4070 or 7600, 7700, 7800, but some on that list are... too power hungry or gimped in VRAM. It's not looking good for an upgrade if AMD messes up N32 or if 4060 Ti is 8GB. Last hope in N33... 🥲

      Whats crazy is how fast technology is advancing. 3070 8gb used to run everything but the vram of that card makes it look very dated. I think 12gb will be good for 2 years running at good settings before having to turn down some settings on future games. 16gb vram probably more future proof probably last you 3-4 years. and 24gb like with the 7900xtx and 4090 probably 5years+

      I think 100W is too extreme, 4070's TDP is 200W, I think you would get about 60% of original performance. but 40 series cards in general are beasts in the realm of UV and OC. Someone has tried to UV 4070 to around 140W, and the card runs around 80C degrees during gaming WITHOUT FANS while still have 90% of the original performance

    I guess I'm keeping my 3070 for now. It's really good enough for most games I play (at QHD resolution), and the performance upgrade really isn't worth the price hike. Hoping the next gen would actually be NEXT gen performance increase (like how the 30 series was).

    It seems like every other generation nvidia makes big jump in performance. 10 series was big increase, 20 series was small increase, 30 was big increase, 40 series small increase except for 4090. So 50 series could be bigger increase again.

      400 to 500 was decent, 500 to 600 was pretty good in newer games, 600 to 700 was massive, 700 to 900 was huge, 900 to 1000 was huge.

      I just upgraded to 1440p165Hz, and honestly my 2070 Super is still doing quite well.

      @@bomas_ulz Well even new games that are reasonably well optimized run great. I get around 100-120 fps on Halo: Infinite 1440p high, and around 150 on Doom Eternal ultra (with raytracing switched off).
      My new 1440p monitor supports both freesync and g-sync, so once it is time to replace the 2070S, I'll be free to choose manufacturer. Currently trending towards AMD, because I wanna switch to Linux in the long run.

    Problem is we all know this card will not be sold at the MSRP of 600 USD. Once AIB models come in you're potentially going to be paying much more depending on which variant and your region.

      It's normal for 3rd party cards to cost 10-20$ more than the reference, but the problem is that it has been 100-200$ more than the reference, because Nvidia has been lying about most of their GPUs' MSRP since last gen.
