I would like to see Dart step up into the Nissan RB blocks as I’d love to build a Dart iron block RB30 SOHC build, I have been saying that my following Pro-Street Aussie car might go from it’s Dart 434 SBC to a Dart 2JZ for something a little different like my other Aussie RB30 car. Block looks pretty stout! It had better be for a $4500 casting, but I'd imagine it should hold a good deal over 2K hp.. one way to find out! Cant wait to see more down the road.
As a long term jz owner.stock block jz has seen north of 2500 hp.street use.these guys are building 1/4 mile builds.throw all the boost at it in seconds.stuff breaks.they always fail to mention the difference between street and strip.
Now all that Dart block needs is a big bore head casted by AFR, Canfield, or Edelbrock with ports developed by Tony Mamo and Darin Morgan. It would be game over. The development and release of this block is 20 years late, but better late than never.
Appreciate the gearhead asmr of taking such care assembling, but the block flexing on the stand while con rod caps get torqued has got to be a massive oversight. On a side note it makes me wonder why no aftermarket company has tried a cradle for the mains like a honda k motor has. All said and done its a thing of beauty.
may i ask out of ignorance: does an engine like this need/ has a break in period or it just goes straight into performance tunning amd power pull afert the initial warmup?
Depends on internals the level of break in. In any engine, its a good idea to run an engine briefly with oil and soon after drain to check the fluid, and let the internals familiarize themselves to each other. I'd like to do a more detailed video talking about this subject soon. Stay tuned for that!
From my experience ring packages and camshaft types dictate most break in procedures on builds.Contact the part supplier for this info and utilise the guidance of the engine builder.A break in shouldn’t hurt any engine but not doing it can and possibly will hurt it.Just my 5 cents 👌
Thank you! This will be a test engine used in our SuperFlow Engine Dyno. Build preference for these internals specifically. I'll see if we can get a video explaining why to keep or delete squirters in the works!
Now this is amazing. I am going to build another motor on the side for my 2jz swapped DCT E90 M3. Currently a 3.0 liter. Is the 3.5 maybe to torquey for a street application? I am currently at 1100whp
What factors would you think would hinder or increase? It is a true car on a big tire and it has a good traction control system using maxxecu. It has power steering, and AC and all of the factory can bus working on the car like OEM. I am not opposed to a bigger motor I just don't want to keep breaking things from the torque. I do also have a built Ford 8.8 rear end with G force axles and a one piece aluminum driveshaft. I'm just worried about breaking transmission internals it is a F80 M3 DCT
I'd say gear ratios have a big part to play in deciding this also. Like you mentioned, more torque also opens the door to breaking things. Give us a call and we'd love to chat about how we can help on your build!
