76 year old retired mechanic here. Enjoying watching every minute of it. No endless blabbering, no stupid background music, just the beautiful sounds of great work and tools moving through the job. Thanks for sharing, my friend. Cheers.
There are some folks that would complain that the Mona Lisa has a crooked smile. There is absolutely no reason to apologize for anything. You're providing the finest work here.
Loved the video, nothing like building and engine all by yourself it's a whole new level of enjoyment when you go out and successfully hot rod an engine you built
There is literally no channel on RUclips with the film making status of this one. This is a treat every single time man. Literally, job well done and pls keep em going. You’ll make a career out of this
all other car RUclipsrs are loud mouths who just buy bolt on crap and fit it to the car, eg mighty car mods. This guy knows what hes doing, and does it quietly and skillfully. Camera work is awesome. His work is relatable, not everything just works, like he breaks bolts, things dont fit so he modifies stuff just like real life. Other youtubers just seem to buy pre built 3rd party bolt on parts and everything always fits perfectlyin their la-la world.
Well the Restored crew did a couple of vids in a similar format but it was the exception to the norm. I don't mind people talking as long as the comments don't get too childish and are informative. But Simon is for sure one of the best.
How come I am sitting and watching closely entire 2hrs long video as an exciting movie?! Real magic! Not just a good mechanic, but also a talanted cameraman & video editor. Appreciate your work, keep going!!
I am a chef who used to be an auto mechanic in South Korea. I'm so jealous that you have a garage. Since Koreans generally live in apartments, most do not have garages. I enjoyed the video!
Lighting, framing, composition, selective focus, forced perspective, story telling, and a fearless mechanic. There is simply nothing that come close to this on RUclips. Thank you, Simon.
You've really captured the most iconic moments of wrenching. Even the humble first run without a hood, the attempts to resurrect the carb and final replacement to keep the project moving, and the real absolute truth of pulling saved parts outta the bin and using them. Returning to the house via a single headlight also gets the mood right hahaha Thanks for putting this to film.
You never cease to amaze me. Someone as young as you being such a skilled old-school all-around mechanic is absolutely incredible. Each video is a master class in restoration.
Absolutely. Seems to be that whoever raised Simon, certainly taught him the secrets of been an old school mechanic, perhaps a grandpa or a dad. Watching him is like watching someone a lot older working but Simon turns out to be in his 20's. It's like a man from the past...a time traveler mechanic!
Best mechanic/car restoration videos on RUclips, guy's a genius with cars and no cheesy chat or drama like most of the other Americans, love watching these.

Its a weird feeling when ends, so u just go and watch another of his videos 😂😂😂 is like having a library of ONLY good movies, Simon does not know failure ate this point
Yeah, I've noticed that Vice Grip Garage, a channel I used to watch, looks so corny and ancient compared to Simon. Whenever I watch a VGG video, I find my self thinking "shut the f*ck up" and do something other than another "first start in X years will it make it XXX miles home..........". Can you tell that Simon's builds are largely for actually daily driving, not a once and done now park it in a field?
Camera work and editing magnificent! I like how he just works no weird music ,I like the sounds of the tools the machines. Doesn’t give a weird speech or some kind of weird testimony about this and that and everything else under the sun.
I’m thinking of watching this again with popcorn. Reminds me of my dad tearing down a LTD, a Chevelle and a Chevy II Wagon with three on the column. He worked quiet like this. I had no idea what the hell he was doing but marveled at it. I’m in the same boat now and respect the craft. Awesome story telling!
I'm @ 1:21:04, it's crazy to me that, as much mechanic work I've done in my life so far, I've changed my fair share of engine swaps, engine rebuilds, trans swaps, cylinder heads/head gaskets and all the typical major stuff. Yet, I've not yet done a swap that was radical enough that I had to make sure the engine/trans were squared up between the frame and at the right angle. I've also never had to check the Pinion angle, or make sure the rear axle was square so the thrust alignment wouldn't be off. Stumbled across your channel this evening and really enjoyed your video, everything about how you shoot! The way you focus on all the details and your editing style, taking it apart, cleaning and re-assembley and then you prep and paint. Relaxing and SO enjoyable to watch! I will definitely be hanging around to see what's next! Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!

Your cinematography is beautiful.
I rarely ever comment on a video, or subscribe to a channel. I just subscribed to your channel. Please don't ever stop making this sort of video. Your channel is my favorite. Thank you very much. And have a merry Christmas.
You make the best videos and without any chatter like bla bla bla. Something happens in your videos and you can see everything, no words are needed. Give your cat a big kiss
I'm a call center worker. Your videos are perfect to have playing in the background. No commentary and incredibly good camera work. Damn I wanna wrench my old truck now.
You are hands down,The best one doing automotive content on RUclips. No BS just, working it out in your head then, letting us see the results with your hands. Stay at it Simon.
No one on RUclips combines the skillset, knowledge, acumen, creativity, artistry in videography, resourcefulness, and determination like Simon does. Another HOF video!
Steam from the sawzall proves he is actually doing some of this project in the fucking winter, outside, in a driveway, exposed to the elements. I'm afraid this is what actual commitment looks like gentlemen.
Many of us did not have a garage or even a driveway until we were older. I remember working with one tire on the curb outside my northeast apartment. Really motivates you to not waste time and get it done before your fingers go numb.
My first car was a triple blue 75 Gran Torino. It was a 351W car had the typical performance bolt on’s. Found a 76 Sport for parts so it had the tach and buckets. Ended up selling it after 20 years to a young kid who’s giving it the love I never found the time for.
Your videos are works of art. The attention to detail on your cinematography along with the authenticity of bringing old abandoned vehicles back to life with simple store-bought harbor freight tools and patience is a breath of fresh air. At a time when all the other big names on youtube have million-dollar garages and half a million dollars-worth of snap-on tools, it's still the same steps to fix a car.
I noticed that. He works as the average Joe with around the corner store tools. Not fancy at all and always showing kills that you find easily in an retired old school mechanic . Is fascinating that a young guy like him shows this level of skill and tricks from the past. Whoever was the role model did a great job.
Here in England. I grew up with tiny little engined cars. 850cc mini. Then I got a 1250cc I thought that was big. It's nothing compared to these old cars. Big old 7.3 ltr. Incredible. I love this stuff to my core..
I live in Romania, I have a classic Dacia with an engine of 1.4 ltr. It's big compared to the modern dacia that has 0.9 ltr engine. I'm dreaming about owning a true muscle car, to feel the V8 roar under the hood
Although the motors differ greatly in size, it might be safe to say that you going from the 850cc to a 1250cc, was (in some ways) the equivalent of him going from a 302, to a 460. Same joy and passion was experienced at least.
Hi Simon, I'm 64 years old, but young at heart. I love your video. No annoying music, no annoying chatter, incredibly good camera work. Congratulations, you're a master. You make me Happy, thank you very much. Best wishes from Switzerland. Urs ❤🙏
Love how you use the same basic tools, especially the vice grips. I always wanted a grand torino, especially after watching Starsky and Hutch in high school.
I tried to listen to some news this morning. Politics this and politics that. Lasted about 30 seconds before I came over here. Thank you so much. I really appreciate your choice of format. For once I’m grateful to the “algorithm “. Merry Christmas!
So happy to see you put up another video. This is addictive content that you create, pure genius. Your problem solving skills are so next level. The way you were able to quickly modify that fan shroud broke my brain. So cool⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Well, I finally got through your entire playlist. I feel there’s not anything you can’t fix, truly impressive, and as a native St. Paul boy born and raised you do us proud! Keep the videos coming! Well done!
A great Christmas gift for fans of video editing mechanics and every man in the world who dreams of doing the same thing of repairing old equipment. Merry Christmas to you and your family. May God always bless you.
Simon you are a legend. No silly music, no blah blah blah, just the sound of the tools and nature with some very good tricks and tips along the way. Watching your videos is like meditation for me and motivates me to work on my own classics. Your video editing is 10/10 Well done and I hope your channel grows and you get all the trimmings you deserve.
I have watched this twice and I don't know what I admire more. Your mechanical skills or your film making skills. Both are exceptional !!!! Keep up the good work
I just love the simplicity of all these videos. No horrible jokes, no stupid over the top editing. Just simply working on a car. Also hot damn those headlights at night were bad 😂
For me, watching your videos is a travell to the past, I made all that repairs and modifications in my parents farm. Keep the Old School alive Simon, you have a mechanical mission.
I squeal and clap my hands like an 8 year old every time you post a new video. I truly appreciate your hard work on these and I am a fan for as long as you want to do this. I also learned something new with the twisted v belt trick to hold the crank pulley when you tightened the bolt. Thanks!
Thank you for not soiling that Ford with a SBC or LS swap. Let each creature mate with its own kind and let cars receive new hearts after their own kin. Fords with Fords, Mopars with Mopars, AMC with AMC, Oldsmobile with Oldsmobile, and Chevys with Chevy.
I look at it this way . GM made such inferior bodies and chassis that some guys got to surround the ls engine with a superior car or truck like a ford. So therefore its more of an insult to the the ls engine than an insult to the ford.
I watched the whole video, I enjoyed every moment of it. I think this is the best video I have ever seen on car repair and modding. The ambient sound in the background was very pleasant! Thank you very much. 🙏🏻
As a minnessota car that sat that long, I would have expected a lot more fighting from the fasteners ! You have an incredible artistic fiber and putting it to good use. Your content is always oddly satisfying to watch. Keep it up, you really got something going !
Another awesome video 👏 Keep em coming. Flashbacks about how things were as a kid with no money. Could only buy used and always had to work on them. Bicycles, motorcycles, cars, and boats. 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s. A great experience. Always nice to see the kitties at the end.
I fell asleep and came back to it at 6:00am!
The one thing I like the best is that u r not talking n trying to explain everything u r doing, I like less talk n more action, my respect n kudos to u, I will be looking forward to see many more of ur videos as u present them.
I’m laughing when I’m watching you installing the U joints I did not know they made a double sided one for Ford but I guess they should friend of mine had a suburban half ton to three-quarter ton and we had to use one of those big. I’ll call it big littleyou joints and I’m saying you did the same thing and then when you dropped the cap on the floor I’m like 00 jelly side down and luckily all the jelly stayed in it so it looks like you’re doing great. I am worried however with your fan shroud modification is your hood going to close but I haven’t gotten that far in the video yet, I’m still watching you put oil in it. I love this. Thank you so much. I’m enjoying myself this morning.
This is how folks worked on their cars way back in the past. You did a lot of the things I did when I was younger, working on my old 1975 Ford F100. Brought back lots of memories. Keep up the great work!
One man, tripod brake bleed. Very Impressive. Seriously your videography and storytelling is superior to most Hollywood garbage. Usually videos without talking bug me. But your work holds my interest very well and that's not easy.
you can put on closed captions, he does a bit of narration which is really cool. love that he isnt a loud mouth like most RUclipsr who love the sound of their own voice.
First time viewer who enjoyed watching the repairs/modifications-that and not having to watch with the mute on because of endless talking/hype, background music, cussing, and the subscribe/like requests. It was just an enjoyable video from start/finish-a channel that's easily subscribed to/liked. Have a great CHRISTmas.
Semi retired mechanic here from South Wales (the old one) UK 🇬🇧 ... love your channel...the filming is first class ... I pray the welding you done on the steering knuckle is sound.... I recently watched the tragic Ayrton Senna incident and a welded in steering column extension was the cause ... some things like brakes and steering are not wise to modify ... I pray it is all sound and sorted for you ... keep up the awesome work you do... I can't get enough of your stuff ... God bless you
Отличная операторская работа . Более 30 лет ремонтирую авто , подобные картинки каждый день перед глазами . Когда смотрю ваше видео , ощущение , что это делаю я , только руки не мои . Great job , guy . Merry Christmas
Hello from the Czech Republic. You have joined my other two favourite car repair RUclipsrs: Turnin' Rust & Anton Maler. You obviously know from the many comments that many of us do not want jerky camerawork, egos & blah blah blah, constantly distracting captions etc. The effort you're putting in to your videos is paying off; I for one have watched many of your car videos several times, including this latest one (I don't care for the jukebox repair vid, sorry). Please keep these car fix-up videos coming if you can (and if the street outside your house is long enough to park them all on). And please don't change your filming and editing style, it's perfect as it is. Over and out.
From Iran with Love and Peace. As you might know we live in deep S... Here. We all buried our desieres. A big one for me and thoushands of others is The Passion of American good old days Cars. Your Content is Like a Magic for Me. Thank you so much. Kisses for your Cat. 👍
"MAN at work". Thanks for the real pleasure watching this. Your vids are unbeatable and return all of us to the era of real America's muscle cars with is volumes, sounds and interiors. Go on with this magic.:)))
I have been becoming more & more interested in putting together a 4 door hot rod lately, as I get older! It's good to see someone doing the necessary prep work to an engine compartment for a change! So many people won't do a thing to improve the look of the engine bay when they pull an engine ...they paint the engine but then slide it into a greasy, grimey & rusty engine bay...drives me nuts! Fun video. I enjoyed it!
Merry Christmas Simon, it's good to see that your channel has grown to 141k subs and counting. Continued blessings to you and yours in the coming New Year. 🙏🏼
One of the most satisfying Simon episodes ever, and that (like Dumbledore in HP 2)is saying something. Nobody not even Simon had more anticipation than I when start up time came. I hope that Mr Fordman gets well remunerated for his fascinating videos so he can buy the best cat food and make more installments. THOROUGHLY entertaining and informative.
From someone who started turning wrenches back in the '60's, super well done!!!! Also a shout out to your dad, uncle, or other car guy that gave you the interest!
76 year old retired mechanic here. Enjoying watching every minute of it. No endless blabbering, no stupid background music, just the beautiful sounds of great work and tools moving through the job. Thanks for sharing, my friend. Cheers.
This is very boring to watch as a mechanic. I watched 30 seconds of skipping thru it and will never watch this dude ever again.
im a young fella and i agree
Absolutely great video as always!
Замечательный мастер!
100%! I wish more Creators/Editors would let the sounds of their surroundings be the soundtrack.
To everyone who noticed, I do realize my mistake that a 460 is a 7.5 liter, not a 7.3 liter. Thanks everyone for watching and happy holidays.

When I watch this dudes videos it brings me back 25 years
Funny, when I saw the car I immediately heard CCR on the eight-track with the "Dude" banging on the headliner in time with "Lookin' Out My Backdoor."
I remember back in the day you could do that whole project for $500 bucks...that even includes the AC/DC back in black 8 track tape...
I was like no, not for me... it only takes me back to 1990 -- which is longer ago than it seems

USA
I live in Romania, I have a classic Dacia with an engine of 1.4 ltr. It's big compared to the modern dacia that has 0.9 ltr engine. I'm dreaming about owning a true muscle car, to feel the V8 roar under the hood
Although the motors differ greatly in size, it might be safe to say that you going from the 850cc to a 1250cc, was (in some ways) the equivalent of him going from a 302, to a 460. Same joy and passion was experienced at least.
We live unfortunately in the shit Europa where here everything is expensive and cause of the strict laws makes you to give up on everything.
This is easily in the top 10 of all car YT content. Great work, Simon.
Love these long videos. I watch them at .65% speed, so this'll keep me entertained all afternoon.
Once again I spend 2 hours on this. No great surprises or other revolutionary things, and still, I cant stop watching.. Very skillful mecanic
I tried to listen to some news this morning. Politics this and politics that. Lasted about 30 seconds before I came over here. Thank you so much. I really appreciate your choice of format. For once I’m grateful to the “algorithm “. Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas
So happy to see you put up another video. This is addictive content that you create, pure genius. Your problem solving skills are so next level. The way you were able to quickly modify that fan shroud broke my brain. So cool⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
@@SimonFordmanhola amigo ..soy paraguayo desde Barcelona España..Simon me extrañas que no hayas cambiado la bomba de agua ..FELIZ NAVIDAD 🇺🇲👋🇵🇾
Well, I finally got through your entire playlist. I feel there’s not anything you can’t fix, truly impressive, and as a native St. Paul boy born and raised you do us proud! Keep the videos coming! Well done!
Wow. What an awesome vid. No useless palaver. No crap music. I had a 73 Ranchero and a 75 GTorino. Loved em both. Outstanding job young man!
Your video editing is 10/10
Well done and I hope your channel grows and you get all the trimmings you deserve.
Thanks for the video! This is better than a Hollywood movie.
Keep on cranking these videos out and keep them classics away from the crusher 🤘🏼
Thanks!
Love seeing these old FoMoCo’s on the road. The content and video production is great, almost a zen ASMR experience. Safe travels!
Congrats on 140k subs. I started watching at 4k. You deserve it.
I don't care if people crossbreed drivetrains but if I hear the phrase LS swap one more time I might get rid of my hearing
you boys dont pay atention , Simons 65 has a LS and stick in it.
@@robertquartier9379and he said hes taking it out eventually and putting a ferd engine in it thats what was in it when he got it.
I look at it this way . GM made such inferior bodies and chassis that some guys got to surround the ls engine with a superior car or truck like a ford. So therefore its more of an insult to the the ls engine than an insult to the ford.
@@robertquartier9379 its going to be swaped out he already said hes taking the ls out of it
Have to agree with everyone else, this channel, the format, and details make you the best.
Man it's a pleasure watching this young man apply his craft ! Great video
Another awesome video 👏
Keep em coming. Flashbacks about how things were as a kid with no money. Could only buy used and always had to work on them. Bicycles, motorcycles, cars, and boats. 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s. A great experience.
Always nice to see the kitties at the end.
Men of Culture, Simon has dropped another gem for us ❤🎉
Some people listen to music. Others park by the ocean, but when I want to relax I watch Fordman
I fell asleep and came back to it at 6:00am!
The one thing I like the best is that u r not talking n trying to explain everything u r doing, I like less talk n more action, my respect n kudos to u, I will be looking forward to see many more of ur videos as u present them.
This is what YT for. Every minute is pure joy.
Much better! ❤ Gave the 460 engine a new lease on life and the Torino some Sunday Punch! Fantastic film maker and outstanding Master Technician!
Your making us old schoolers reminis the old days.cause this is exactly what i did every day in a yesterday.peace
And now at 70, my hands are sore just from watching!
Mr. Fordman uploads, we watch and get inspired to wrench on our stuff (my poor c10).
God bless you
Nice, 2 hours of Himself wrenching on cars. Happy holidays Fordman!
Отличная операторская работа . Более 30 лет ремонтирую авто , подобные картинки каждый день перед глазами . Когда смотрю ваше видео , ощущение , что это делаю я , только руки не мои . Great job , guy . Merry Christmas
I was going to watch a movie this evening. But 2hrs of Simon wrenching on old iron sounds much better.
Yes my first day of vacation and my favorite mechanic is in 😅😮
Ditto.

Your Content is Like a Magic for Me.
Thank you so much.
Kisses for your Cat.

People like you make the world a better place mate
A new Fordman video...Christmas came a little early. Thanks brother.
42:15 Vice grips 🙂
Looks all original under the hood. Great video 👍
Thanks, I wish I had a factory 460-4v air cleaner to complete the stock look
Already waiting for a few days😂. Again a gem Simon❤. Merry Christmas, mrs and cats.🎉
I know barely anything about cars but when I watch this guys videos without subtitles it feels like he’s teaching you in some way.
После просмотра ощущение как будто сам только что ковырялся под по капотом.
Шикарный контент, привет из России! =)
