1962 Ford Galaxie, Clean-Up And Repairs

Part 1: ruclips.net/video/dtGEOPv6A2s/видео.html
A few weeks ago I purchased this 1962 Ford Galaxie. This video makes Part 2 of the series. In Part 1, I got it running and driving but found that it leaked out all the brake fluid and the transmission ceased to go into the correct gears. I also hadn't cleaned it up after it sat in someone's backyard for a handful of years. So, I've now cleaned off all the mold and scum, repaired the transmission and resolved the brake fluid leak, I also covered a few more things as you'll see. I expect this to be the last video I make on the Galaxie, I've put as much wor...

Turn on subtitles or view the transcript at the bottom of the description if you'd like explanations on what I'm doing throughout the video They say Ford 300s never die. Well, this one did. I was starting out for a 3 hour drive to procure some parts when about an hour in, I heard the fateful noise of engine knock. Knowing that the engine was more or less done for, I turned back towards home to ...

Turn on subtitles or view the transcript at the bottom of the description if you'd like explanations on what I'm doing throughout the video I hate rust. My Torino has lots of it. First was to patch the floors, they're bad enough that the carpet is all that's left of the passenger rear and the front seat wasn't all that far from falling through. It's not a perfect job, but now the floors should ...

RUclips has been playing your videos whilst I have auto play going, without noticing/yet noticing, and I gotta say…I think the algorithm is improving. Asmr car noises? Come on!?! Your editing is relaxing yet, entertaining, and impressive (as far as car content)! Which I love. First time commenter, and I just subscribed! 🫡🇺🇸❤️
surely you hold some investment in O'Reillys....?? If not you need to get on that, it would be a money making deal!

My dad bought the station wagon version of this, the Ranch Wagon. Brand new. I still remember the smell! Love your videos!
👍👌👍👌👍👌👏👏👏👌👍👌👍👌👍
Thanks for sharing the video and enjoy the great videos
When I saw that seal leak again for the 4th time, I said "Thats it!" went for a walk, swore up and down, had a small drink, and continued watching realizing you're doing all that work. You have a excellent "never say die" attitude. Hats off to you Simon! And all that camera work to boot. Friggin awesome!
Respect voor jou top man
Eso es lo malo de los carros viejos empiezan a tragar dinero con ganas para recuperarlo está difícil a veces
Watching your channel is relaxing like the sound of waves on a beach. Your a very talented young man.
Great stuff! You have great skill. Just one thing caught my attention. That hole on the end of rubber grips is to allow an air nozzle to aid with install on the bar. Works like a charm and makes for a much less squirmy fit.
I think I would just throw the vacuum away.
You did a great job, for the future after paint, put fatmat or dynomat, the car will never rust again. All the best.
I remember seeing those new. Built on the same chassis as the Mustang. 200 cid straight six. Ford made a zillion of them. Probably should have used some penetrating oil instead of WD40. WD40 is not a penetrant. But from the looks of it, they'd have still snapped off.
whats that spray you use to clean all the parts
My Falcon has a (asbestos?) donut between the header pipe and exhaust manifold
👍👍👍👌👌👊🤘👊
Oh did my heart go out to you for having done all that work only to find the bent axle housing, oh gads what a sock in the gut. If folks watch carefully as this unfolds they will know to look carefully at disassembled parts and not buy upgrades for the third member until the base axle assembly is verified good. We viewers ought to be paying you for this priceless, well presented training we get from your videos. Thank you. And thanks for the entertainment because I eat this stuff up, you have a unique and creative approach to the production of the videos.
Changing those old brakelines is smart, could save your life. At 71 I’m too old to wrench but watching you sure brings back some memories, thanks.
I took a 83 Blazer built it from the ground up new every thing well rebuilt and painted it. That 2.8 gave me 30 mpg highway. I should of never got rid of it.
An hour and 16 minutes of "Hold my beer"
These videos are brilliantly done.
That tail panel tells me this is a *GALAXIE 5-0-0, ALL THE WAY STAR'S GREEN, GOTTAAA GOOO!!*
New sub from your last video and when i realized this was a new one i was pumped!
Love it, no talking and no music. Don't git no bettah !

Holy cow - this is the second of your videos I watched, and on the previous one I commented how your maintenance of your truck reminded me of my young days maintaining my own car. Then I saw this video and, it just so happens, that first car that I owned learned to maintain was also a '74 Gran Torino! Not only that, but same color! At first, I thought this might even be the exact car I ownedm because I ALSO had that crease on the fender just aft of the headlight - but no, you have a different motor. Mine had the 351W (and the FMX tranny). It was fantastic seeing a similiar car in action again. Seeing the pattern on the seat fabric was incredible - I'd forgotten all about that detail. I rebuilt the motor after I bought the car (I think it was in 1985). I leanred all my initial basic auto maintenence skills on this car. It took me all over the place, including a lot of off-roading, because my friend and I modified the suspension to lift the car. I can't remember what I used, but I believe the springs (either front or back) were from a Ford pickup. I had (I think) 235/70-15 BFG Radial Mud Terrain tires on it, and I thought it looked pretty cool. In fact a lot of people did because they frequently approached me and talked with me about it. Also some rally-car style lights on the front, and also Hi-Lift jack on the ledge of the rear bumper in a mount I made with some aluminum. I loved that car, but one day I pulled the 351 out and was going to swap in a 460 I had bought. But for some reason I never got round to finishing that project, and eventually bought a 1980 Plymouth Grand Fury ex-Oregon State Police car. So I sold the Torino. Now I wish I could have another one just like it, but damn they are so expensive and rare now. Next, please do a video where you find and resurrect a 1980 Plymouth Grand Fury! =) Great videos!
This dude sets his cameras up, like it's a damn multi-billion dollar movie. Love watching your videos.
❤🎉
Enjoy all the vids. Keep up the good work!!
Põe bardhal no motor!!!
I must say the absence of narration is refreshing. ❤

Oh man, I'm not into ASMR stuff, but this was wonderful ASMR to me. Totally took me back to a time when I worked on EVERYTHING in my cars - because I had to. I was just a poor youngster and if I wanted to get to work on Monday, I fixed it on Saturday and Sunday. Although there were the occassional fun projects, like bolt-on performance parts, new wheels, electrical projects, etc. Just me, my friend Mike, and the limited tools I had available. Oh, and of course the Clymers or Haynes manual. Looking back, it was sort of Zen-like at times; just out there under the car in the peace and quiet, cleaning things to perfection and reassembling with new parts. And the satisfaction of seeing everything work right afterwards. Good times. Now eveytime I get the doom-chime from my BMW I just shrink in my seat, wondering, great, what is it this time? I minor cabin filter change reminder I can ignore for eternity, or a $3000 throttle actuator failure?
Mighty fine job, Simon. The exhaust pipe construction was a work of art. Amazing that I watched both videos and never heard a word of foul language! 🤠 Fine lookin' kitty, too. Thank you for sharing your skills, both mechanical and video.

Love that Galaxy, my stomach turned around when i saw it at first but it came by after the scrubbing of the interior and pressure wash. I would not have guessed that it would come out so nice, i saw one once in deep blue that was a nice combo with all the stainless/chrome, i fell in love instantly.
Simon I really much enjoy Your movies than other talking productions. It's so calm and relaxing. Much love it!❤. Great work and keep it up💪👍
Good Job!
We’ll done! Just stay at it. Nice, quiet, guy working on his car. Perfect!

Somebody was smart and installed a dual master cylinder, something I would have done on the1962 galaxy 500.
Brilliant work Simon. If you wanted to you could feed a Bluetooth receiver to the input of the amplifier and cast from your phone to the juke box. Those things were as complex mechanically as they were electronically. Well done lad and regards from Ireland as always. Pity the glass is cracked though. I'd like to see a part 2 on this. I spend a lot of my time messing with old CB radio sets and Vintage Hi-Fi.
