Thanks for another video Simon. The way your photographer skills are plus silence of the video except the turning of a wrench, PB blast spray or an adjustable wrench. Therapy! ❤🎉
Dig your style, Simon. You are a refreshing oasis in a desert of YT producers who LOVE to hear themselves talk. Much respect from Santa Cruz, California.
"No wood was harmed in the making of this video." This was a pleasure to watch Simon, keep it up. Your style of mechanic stuff helps me stay sane in the garage working on my projects.
We put two men on the moon in 1969, and the SR-71 was announced in 1964 and had already been delivered and built. We’ve had incredible technology since WWII. The 60’s aren’t THAT far away, right?…..RIGHT!?!!!?
Simon, your videos are the best. No music, silly dialog etc. your skills are unquestionable. Incredibly therapeutic and dear i say it intoxicating watching you take broken machined and bring them back to life. Keep up the the great work. Best wishes from the Scottish Borders! Cant wait for your next therapy session.
Simon says: I’ll fix the gear selector. Then, no crowsfoot wrench? I’ll make one. Then, I found the problem and it’s inside the transmission, so I’ll open up an automatic transmission while lying on my back under the car. Found an internal part is worn because of 62 years of use. So I use a welder to fix it. All done! An unbelievably great video! Well done, Simon.
Oh boy! The Galaxie 500-!! A brake cylinder which gets back in its plastic bag and back into its parts box. Tires which jump back onto the Galaxie 500 without human help. It's them small thangs... Most impressive feat of repair: diagnosing the problem with the transmission, and fixing it with a spot weld! Thanks for your channel!
This has become my go to channel in the last few weeks. I feel a kinship as I work all day on my houseboat so also covered in rust and oil. When it's time to relax after that I put a Simon Fordman video on and kick back with dinner
My father bought this model in an electric blue colour in 1962. It was a magnificent car with white and blue upholstery. It just floated along. Excellent work and video.
Great style and amazing '62 Galaxie. I was 14 when they came out and I lusted after one so much. A mechanic down the street had a white 390 - simply beautiful.
I already thought the whole car was going to end up in the vacuum cleaner lol. Once again, fantastic camera work and editing. Greetings from Berlin, Germany
You must have been brought up around a dad, uncle, or grandfather to have these, for lack of a better term, ‘old school’ , skills. This is what common sense looks like. I am so impressed. I’m 67 y/o and would work on my things this way because I paid attention to older guys doing repairs when I was younger. Kudos to you. Thumbs up 👍🏼
Недавно наткнулся на Ваш канал,посмотрел многие ролики.Очень гипнотизирует работа без голоса автора.Я сам увлекаюсь машинами и люблю смотреть как старым некрухам дают вторую жизнь
I love how you do a lot with very little to keep an old bird flying. Very inspiring, and it seems from the comments, the world over. Well done SimonFordMan.
Thank you, because your videos are not only entertaining, but I'm studying mechanics and these are REALLY helpfull. A lot of things that you show here are NOT taught and are pure experience.
i had a 1964 custom 500, which is a stripped galaxie. mine had two options, a 289 v8 and an automatic trans. no radio, no power brakes, no power steering, single speed wipers, i really liked that car. my dad bought a 1967 4 door brand new, i think it cost in the nieghborhood of 3400 bucks. his had a 390 four barrel, power everything, light blue. he drove it until the mid 1980s. great videos man,
So much confidence, patience and ability...couple that with excellent subject matter presented in a new professional way...the future is bright my friends, bright indeed!
All I can say is wow! I’ve watched many car videos and your cinematic portrayel of how you do makes me crave more! You truly are a master at this an I cannot wait to see more! Amazing my friend don’t ever change how you do this! I keep saying to myself. “Wow”
Good stuff 👍👍 When I saw the original video towing it up on the trailer. The first thing I said to myself was that after he checks the engine out he needs to go right to the tranny. When I was a kid I worked on several different types of automatic transmissions from the 60's. The weirdest little things can be worn out or a modulator valve needed replacement, a seal, worn linkage, etc. It never failed to happen. My uncle would do the manual trannies and I would do the automatics unless they needed a complete overhaul, pump, etc. Then they went to town for an overhaul.
Another great one Simon. Loved your bumper repair. Back in olden days we usta find the right size tree or concrete wall. Bump it this way n that, Perfection!
That feeling at the end when you can finaly drive the beauty after hours of repairs when you were dreaming of that moment. Thank you for next fairytail for classic car fans. Enjoy the beauty! 😊 Great work... both the car and video... 😊
Good job, channel grows really quickly, i came from video "The long way home" and watched every single one after that, pretty interesting and relaxing videos. Hello from Russia.
I wonder what the paint code on the data plate is? I think it might have originally been tan, possibly two-tone with a white top. Still not liking the steering wheel. It really wants that big Galaxie wheel with the horn ring. A little tough to figure out what colour wheel, though! I'm impressed with the way you diagnosed and repaired the transmission fault while lying underneath the car. It took mad skills to unbutton that Heath Robinson contraption and weld the worn part without removing it from the car. 55:22 I sure wish I had the optional self-installing wheels on my Ford. Must have been a 1962-only option.😉 You've brought that old Ford back a long ways. I'm sure the work was frustrating but ultimately satisfying. Thanks for letting us watch.
Thanks Simon, we so enjoy all your work on these videos, love the old Galaxie, always wanted a ‘64 XL, anyway keep ‘em comin’ and scratch the kitties for us, your two biggest Canadian fans, Paul & Rodie (meow 😸) 🇨🇦
One of my brothers owned a 1962 Galaxie that was Maroon with a Black Convertable Top and Black interior. It was a beatiuful car. Thanks for posting. I never saw so many uses for a claw hammer before and I also notice that your screw driver had an affinnity for transmission fliud.
I need this car in my life. I had a 61 and a 62, both 4 door cars. Miss them terribly. The 61 was a 352 with a Cruise-O-Matic 3 speed auto and the 62 also was a 352, but had an FMX tranny. Just fun cruisers. Both were in the shape this one appears to be, mostly really solid, but not super shiny restores. Survivors.
Another awesome video, thanks!!! Would recommend pre-soaking/pre-treating heavily soiled areas in the future though. It’ll clean deeper, take less scrubbing and provides an all around better outcome for you and the viewer. Take care 🤙
I'm hooked on your videos as psychotherapy, I'm looking forward to every video, I admire how you understand technology, I even envy your skills, it gives you more pleasure, all the best to you, I'm watching you from Dagestan it's in Russia
I think your videos are the best on youtube, because it's not that you don't speak but I get more out of watching your videos to apply these things to my own classic cars and I appreciate that, and I absolutely love your different camera angles everywhere around where you do your work keep up the great work
Новая серия подъехала) наконец-то))) смотреть одно удовольствие)))) ещё радует, что русские субтитры можно включить, хотя формат данных видео такой, что и без субтитров всё понятно))) лайк однозначно
Hello Simon, Subscribed to your site, it is a pleasure to watch all your videos. Amateur and owner of old vehicles, I am learning things about their restoration. Thank you for this new video.
Just ran across you for the first time. Excellent editing. Great videography. And terrific taste in vehicles. From one Ford man to another...I'll be back for the next episode.
New subscriber here. Amazing channel amazing camera work AND I'm a Ford guy too. Your first video on the 62 galaxy made me realize it was a 62 galaxy that got me into cars at a young age. My father had a 62 two door black with red interior. When I think of classic cars that's the vision I'm chasing. It imprinted on me. That sweet red interior, those cool taillights. I've had several collector cars over the years, and now I find myself wanting another one again. Never owned a galaxy but I have had 67 Tbird 66 Linc and 68 Mustang (first car straight six). Now looking for a ranchero maybe. Yours is one of the Best car channels on YT. You're a natural mechanic. Can't figure out how you know so much at such a young age! Peace !
Thanks for the new video, gives me more inspiration to keep working on my 84' regal to clean it out.. Been infested with mice and about halfway done with the cleaning! 👍😌
Commendable repair on the transmission! Hope the cat is a good hunter, I have trouble keeping mice away from my stored vehicles. One is a 59 Ford Galaxie 500 and the other a 65 Chevy Convertible. Hope you see 100,000 subscribers soon...........
The Fact that this is way cheaper than therapy sessions is insane. Thank You!

"No wood was harmed in the making of this video." This was a pleasure to watch Simon, keep it up. Your style of mechanic stuff helps me stay sane in the garage working on my projects.
Still amazed how someone designed this transmission in 1962 😮
We put two men on the moon in 1969, and the SR-71 was announced in 1964 and had already been delivered and built. We’ve had incredible technology since WWII. The 60’s aren’t THAT far away, right?…..RIGHT!?!!!?
Yea cause we had just got away from using horse drawn buddies a few years before. smh
I had in my youth a 2 door hardtop with 3 on the tree, a freeway crash survivor. But that 352 ran well. It was a brute.
I grew up in the neighborhood's those guys lived in. Suburbs of Detroit in the 60's. They were all smart and good fellas.
Lots of surplus German engineers and scientists from you-know-what. Why do you think both powers developed so fast?

I also thought exactly the same ! Simon is just genius.
I am 61 years old and you started me wrenching again. Keep it up Simon. Cheers from Canada (Québec)
This channel's videos make me dislike the other car channels with all of the unnecessary talking. GREAT JOB

I kind of envy your ability to put things back together "dirty" - without wirebrushing the hell out of and at least spraypainting them.
Yeah that bugs me how you keep everything old looking. But you make it better!
The Galaxie from that era is a very stunning car, even the details show it.
Built Ford Tuff.
Just noticed that the first part of this went absolutely viral. Congratulations!
