My mom had a 57 with a 283.. My dad bought it for her on her birthday in 1962 ... I was born a month later & she had it until I was 7... My dad finally talked her into selling it by tempting her with a new 69' Impala with a 327 & a 4 speed on the floor ... She always said she regretted selling it , but when I was in high school , I found a 57 the same color ... It didnt have an engine or a transmission , but in the late 70's you could buy a chevy small block for close to scrap price ... It came with a column shift , but I went to the salvage yard & bought a column . Then I found a 327 bolted to a 4 speed & put it together in my uncles garage... I drove it home & when she saw it she teared up ... I drove it to school sometimes , but mostly my mom drove it to run errands .. She even got her 1st speeding ticket in it at the age of 40...

Well done.
When I was 10, my father bought a used 1956 Chevrolet 210, 4door, 6 cylinder, manual transmission in the light blue color I see on your car peeking out from underneath the repaint of darker blue. Wish I could ride in that car one more time with my father. Like many of us on your channel, many of the memories of my youth revolve around cars. Thanks for spending the time putting together a 2 hour video. It was worth the wait. Your mechanical and video skills continue to impress. Looking forward to your next show!

Excellent video! I grew up working on Tri-Five Chevys. You brought back a lot of memories. That paint job was probably an Earl Schieb special, "I'll paint any car any color for $99". I wanted to hug you when you didn't cut the top off of the radiator support (common back in the day) to make your job easier.
As a mater of fact, the radiator support was already cut off and re-welded when someone replaced that engine long before me, haha. I considered cutting it since it already had the scars.

Simon, you are a genius! That thought crossed my mind and no doubt countless other fans of SimonFordman also said to thenselves the same thing.
@@claztube So, you're saying I'm not unique... Thanks!
Brilliant Simon really enjoyed seeing this 56 get back on the road the chrome steelies and whitewalls are perfect.
thanks for watching
I can tell you put a bunch of work into this video (and the car)... bravo!
Great channel...My wife enjoys the camera work... I won't nitpick because you commented on it yourself... Nice to have a refresher course 40-50 years later. Subscribed ...
Well done Simon, a very diffrent video presintation than others. Love what you did with the 5, it came up nice. The "Out of order" lable on your other car's coloumn Shift made me laugh.
This guy is the Goat of Back yard Mechanics
SOME OF MY FRIENDS AND ME PUT UP THE VOLUME REALLY LOUD AND THEN WE DANCE TO THE SOUNDS OF YOUR VIDEOS.
Brilliant!!!!
That car was born same year as me. I think the years have been kinder to me!! Thanks for a great video.
Love the editing and the sounds. No talking working on a car alone in desolate places. Very relaxing. Amazing work
I like your patience and disassembling the worn parts and fixing them and all the videos are fun these are beautiful cars
You are very patient and dedicated in the work that's why I think it's a very good mechanic congratulations
Спасибо. Определенно есть свой стиль. Получил удовольствие от просмотра.😊
Hi, great job, the new cars are not so easy to overhaul .it's fun to watch them scraping the old cars together Greetings from Germany
what a great bloke you are putting another classic back on the road love chevy great channel awesome job very well done
in my country is very difficult find cars like that for restorin, thanks for sharing, the best Channel Ever!!!
Good job. You make that look easy like a MLB center fielder makes a fly ball out look easy.
Thanks Simon
You're bringing back a lot of ģood memories..
I had a 63 1/2 Galaxie 406 four-speed..solid lifter..red on red back in 68..
Fun car..
Introduced me to every cop in town and most Sheriffs wirhin a 15 mile radius..
Also cost me my license for a year...
Town cops usually cut me a break..they got parts at the yard..
Sheriffs..not so much..lol
haha, very cool
I have such good memories with a '56 Chevy that it is my favorite year from the tri-fives, when i see one of them i just smile.
Btw, nice work as always.. you didn't need to clean the car inside and out but you these small details show the commitment with your work, never change a thing on RUclips channel because it's perfect!
Greetings from Brazil!
You are great and you can see that you love good old honest cars. I'm watching all your videos now and I also love older classic cars without plastic and electronics.👍👍👍
I really appreciate your editing skills, cutting all but what is needed to tell your story in a timely manner. And I like all the cool camera angles. Filming without voices is great too......just the facts. Great work.........Sandy
You delivered once again, this video is what I like. Get it done with what you've got. Keep em coming along,I share these videos with my pals all the time.
Based on the quality of the content, I predict 100,000 subscribers by January or February of 2025, and 1.000.000 by early to mid 2027. Stay the path, Simon Fordman, and you will go far.
Here's hoping, thank you!
Simon, you are a genius! I watch on our main TV then iPad and then , rewatching again a few days or a month later, the lack of narration very much allows for a much more learning experience rather than having to visually and audibly do so which sometimes aren’t in sync with each other and mabetter suited
This is just wonderful, so calming to watch you work. And glad you kept the matching hub caps for the owner, he might want to go back to painted steelies or find another home for them. We had a '55 two door 210 in dark green, seeing that dash board brings back such memories. Thanks, Simon!
Bonne continuation.
Loved watching this video!! Just straight up mechanical work..........no unnecessary dialogue, no annoying music. That was a fast 2 hours.....lol. But it was worth every second. Good to see content worth watching.......even more so from a fellow Minnesotan. Wish i had half the knowledge you have.......I'd be able to do my own repairs on my '66 Newport. Well done!!
You are the new hero! May the Triforce bless you.
Oh yeah! Greta is gonna be pissed! How dare you.
Love your resto videos dude. Got a tip that will help you on the cleaning of all these old interiors. Mr. Clean Magic Eraser sponges. They work my dude. Buy wholesale online or at Costco. You be blown away at how well and easily they work!
Another excellent video. Just a no nonsense repair. Great job.
I noticed your license plate frame!!!!! Bob-Coyle Chevrolet was a dealer located downtown San Jose California from the late 40s to the early 60s. They were famously known for sponsoring Jungle Jim Liberman during his early days of drag racing. They moved to N First street San Jose Calif. near highway 101 in the 1960s. I worked there (at the parts department) in the 70s when is was Coyle-Billings then just Billings Chevrolet.
very cool!
@@SimonFordman If you would ever be interested in selling the frame I would buy it. Thanks
First time viewer. Great production without all the superfluous dialogue. Excellent video production. Well done👏👏👏
Love this channel.
This one is a great instructional video for me, personally. Learning so much about ways to maintain and repair my 56.
I replaced the oil bath element with a Wix Part Number 46094. It’s a drop in replacement.
But, your technique for cleaning and oiling the original is greatly appreciated. I may put mine back in.
Thanks!! Great content!!
Gotta say I thoroughly enjoyed watching this....I love the way you let the actual car tell the story. Thank you
Simon Chevyman never disappoints 😎
ohh my ! 1h.57mins of pure joy
