My dad was selling Fords in Willmar in 1962 and he had that exact same car in Chestnut Brown for one summer as his "Demonstrator". We drove it to Canada for our only full family vacation, pulling a travel trailer (Shasta - don't know how all 9 of us fit into that, maybe we also brought a tent). I think it was legal in Canada back then to have passengers in a trailer, and I recall riding for a bit. I got a little carsick. We went to Thunder Bay, but back then it was called Fort William & Port Arthur. Later we moved to California and he bought a 63 in red with a 352 I & then traded that for a 65 with a 390 in turquoise, both were 4 door hardtops I think. The center of those 62 tail lights always looked like communion cups to me. Thanks for this video
This is a very professional video production, and I can see that your mechanical skills are top tier. Very nice work. It is also refreshing to see a young person work on the old classics. Kudos
Assuming it's the original paint color, based on the trim tag, it's Chestnut Poly (a red-bronze/burgundy metallic) with a Beige Crush interior. Although it is weird that the dash, firewall and inner fenders are Rangoon Red...
@@ThunderballKaboom that’s because the dash is out of a 1963 model. I don’t know if anybody caught that. I owned a 62 Galaxie with factory 406 four-speed and 32 barrel carbs on it and I know a 62 quite well bumper-to-bumper and I also know the dashboard. Somebody put a lot of work into that car fitting the 63 dashboard in it long before it was parked I must admit I am impressed at the installation and the actually fit. I always like this 1963 and 1964 dashboards better than the 1962.

Wonderful video . brought back memories of helping my dad with the maintenance on a Galaxie 500, and then the Buick Electra 225 . these were new cars and he was so proud of them . those were great days.
Started my first ever restoration [1995 TVR Chimaera V8 Serpentine] and stumbled across your channel about a week ago. Absolutely love your stuff. It is so well made, interesting and gives me that burst of inspiration to go and get stuff done on the car. Awesome stuff man.
Well, color me surprised! I was never expecting a gifted mechanic and videographer, AND American, to create a video without a single spoken word. And still fill it with surprises and drama. Thank you! Subscribed!
Awesome. Beautiful old cars. Brilliant videography and editing, I was hooked and watched the entire video start to finish. I was a mechanic here in Australia in the late 1960’s early 70’s and every now and again a big American car would turn up at the workshop. The 1956 Chev’s were quite popular here but we got the 6 cylinder motor, can’t recall if any had a V8. Just watching you pull that Holley apart brought back memories. I would love to find an old Galaxie or something similar and restore it in my home workshop.
Great cammera work, excellent video editing, no garbage commentary, just showing as it is. Being a city & guilds mechanic, (1969) appreciate his skills. Would be treating myself to a sonic bath for the carbs. He has a new subscriber.
A stuck valve in the closed position will do that. Sitting for years like this car has will do that. I had a 1970 Tbird do that. After that car, I pull valve covers and tap the valves to make sure they're free. Nice video.
I'm very excited for the next video. I'm having fun watching it There is neither much nor little talk here, but here you see endless challenges and hard work that only the mighty can do
Damn, this video was a wild ride. Having this few complications on a revival, all solved with somewhat easy fixes. The brakes taking fluid and giving preassure first try, the innards of the gastank being in ok condition and not clogging the carburator, the backfire that turned into flames, and last but not least my favourite: the compression-tester needing a couple of taps to work correctly, saving you alot of hassle. You hade me guessing at every turn thinking this car was gonna need ALOT more work. Great video, Fordman!
As a big fan of classic cars, I can tell you patience is the key for these type of projects. Old cars can take up hours of our time, but once they start after many failed attempts it makes you think that your time was worthy. Amazing video bro! You've got talent for bringing back to life these wonderful yatchs. That car is a beauty. Never sell it bc it's a relic. Keep up the good work man!!!

Getting caught up in political stuff has done nothing for me. Love this channel. Think of everything these cars have "seen". Lol. Enjoy life. You only get the one.
If you’re still running the gas that was in the tank, you might be bending pushrods because of that. I know it’s a newer gas tank, but modern gas sucks, and if it’s been in there a while it likes to get sticky. I’ve seen it happen on two other car RUclips channels where the car keeps bending pushrods and it turned out to be that weirdly sticky gas. It coats and binds up the valves, valve can’t open, pushrod gets bent. Best of luck, your videos are incredible!
^Exactly what I was going to say. I know he ran it dry, but if there was any nastiness in the bottom of the tank then it went through the engine. The tank walls could be coated in it and the fresh gas acts as a carrier for the gunk it washes off. The lifter didn’t seem to be the issue, so that’s the only theory I’ve got. :P

Hello Simon, I lost my father 2 weeks ago, my father was a retired mechanic, it's difficult without him, but I appreciate your videos that make us dream again. A big hug
I'm sorry to hear about your father, you have my condolences.
@@SimonFordman Thank you very much my friend.
Amen brother ♡
I appreciate the thumbnails for your vids. My first thought is always “no way he’s gonna get this piece of shit to start” and yet you always prove me wrong
And he does it quietly too
Excellent....great editing....no talking and no awful music.....well done. Can't wait to see part II
Wonderful video . brought back memories of helping my dad with the maintenance on a Galaxie 500, and then the Buick Electra 225 . these were new cars and he was so proud of them . those were great days.
This kid stays busy that's for sure with a new project every week
Started my first ever restoration [1995 TVR Chimaera V8 Serpentine] and stumbled across your channel about a week ago. Absolutely love your stuff. It is so well made, interesting and gives me that burst of inspiration to go and get stuff done on the car. Awesome stuff man.
Well, color me surprised! I was never expecting a gifted mechanic and videographer, AND American, to create a video without a single spoken word. And still fill it with surprises and drama.
Thank you!

@@SimonFordman I too just had a "me too" moment, but it felt good! From another new sub, cheers.
Hello from Ukraine! I really enjoyed your video. I love when old cars come back to life. Thank you!
So do the Russians.
@rolandscales9380 go to hell russians
@rolandscales9380 russians are sucks
A stuck valve in the closed position will do that. Sitting for years like this car has will do that. I had a 1970 Tbird do that. After that car, I pull valve covers and tap the valves to make sure they're free. Nice video.
That was an absolutely wonderful presentation. You should be a movie producer very well done and good job on the old Ford. Thank you.
How nice that sound is when those engines roar, you have no idea how satisfying that is.
My first car was a 1964 Galaxie 500 4 door. 289 with 3 on the tree.
I was 16 and I loved that car.
This one seemed frustrating for sure but I think I speak for all of us when I say we appreciate your persistence and patience. Keep doing what you do!
You and NNKH are my absolute favorite vehicle RUclipsrs out there !
Same!
Definitely
That car is an absolute anachronism of beauty! Thank you for feeding life back into it!
Rad galaxy man. Thx for taking us along for the job. Great video.
I'm also surprised the gas tank was ok since it probably hasn't been driven on the road in 6 or 7yrs from the license plate sticker.
@@dextermorgan4337 It has a newish-looking gas tank so I decided to just hope it was decent on the inside still
I like cars and like you're editing style. That's what i noticed right off the bat. Very entertaining! Thank you.
I like your channel, very interesting content. And it's QUIET, no loud music and constant chattering. And I love cats and old cars. Thank you.
This brings back so many memories it makes my day.
Man that is one cool car, and just looking at it didn't look like there was hardly any rust on it at all just mostly service for us, and I really enjoyed how you got that car going your expertise your knowledge of troubleshooting certain areas I've learned a lot from you and I appreciate your videos
👌👌👍👍👏👏👏👏🎉🎉🎉🎉
Great no chat or face the camera, and NO tool box tours , brilliant filming great content
Needed this after election day, great work as always.

Yes. Great advice. I'm 47. I have lived in the US 19 years. 4 president's I think. I have 6 kids. I work 50+ hrs a week, salaried, retail. I get up and go to work and take care of my bills and family.
Nothing has changed for me. Recession, presidential change, pandemic. Still working.
Getting caught up in political stuff has done nothing for me.
Love this channel. Think of everything these cars have "seen". Lol.
Enjoy life. You only get the one.
It doesn't matter who's in power, it'll be the same old sh** after awhile. Same here where I live.

Greetings from Germany - today its rainy and cloudy and your Video made my day turn good - Thank you so much
That sounds of the engine and the style brought me back to those days of luxury and power. Keep a good job.
Simon we love you!
Dude, he actually run it dry in the first test drive, so no not the old gas.
Adding new gas can reactivate the old sticky gas, it turns into a dust that gets rehydrated after adding gas
Should be or is a film maker. Talent for capturing a story without words.
Thank you!!
This took me back, I did not think there was any true mechanics left.
Dan good to see you again as always! Lando looked so cute curled up and cozy... Definitely cold a icy. Really like that snow dog...Until next time stay warm!
