Full Build: From Rusted Out 1961 Chevy Impala to Revved Up Red Sled

  • We stumbled upon an old, rusting '61 Impala that had been neglected for years and decided to take on the massive project of transforming it into a stunning custom car we named "Red Sled." This journey was not for the faint-hearted as it included stripping down the entire vehicle, reinforcing the corroded frame, and giving it a modern air ride suspension. We dove deep into patching up the body with new floor pans, widened tubs, and countless hours of bodywork to ensure the Impala's transformation was spot-on. The shiny red paint job, custom faux chrome emblems, and a sleek new interior by M&M Hot Rod Interiors were the cherries on top. The heart of this beauty is a high-octane 409ci V8 engine paired with a four-speed transmission, making it hard to resist hitting the road. After such an extensive rebuild, the thrill of driving Red Sled was more than rewarding. The car, once left to waste away in a field, now turns heads and sparks envy, epitomizing a perfect blend of classic style and modern enhancements.

I spent many hours unsubscribing to channels that no longer have my interest in their content or found they are not honest. I kept this channel for a few reasons. Your approach to repairs and how it was done is much the same as I would of done it. Yes I am now seventy four and not here much longer seeing my health decline and not able to afford that status of the presidents health care system. I do compare this channel to other channels I watch and see a group here to get a super hard to complete job accomplished. If I remember right, the dash in these cars was welded in, made it impossible to remove. Sure it can be done but the advantage is not enough to warrant to do it. Using same types of linkage for the clutch impressed me. I did fab work from late fifty nine in a shop for logging equipment which included fixing bunged up crew buses that met a corner with a drunk driver at the wheel. Yep, saturday night was cold beer in the creek for when they were finished work for that week. Hard to believe those guys, myself included did not have a sandwich or candy in hand for every five minutes of work. We packed lunch in a brown bag that had last night leftovers, plus a sandwich... and three thermoses of coffee that a man could walk on.... left in a tin cup would eat a hole in the can. One other channel I kept for good reason (I might mention the five window advance design brought me to the channel) .. is a channel called INVision Prototypes. Nick is one heck of a design and build person, and works with his dad. I do hope you check his channel out and see great playlists. I always return favor by sharing your channel name to others I recommend. Nice work and not too gaudy fake looking. All work can be done with a lot of simple tools by anyone willing to spend the hours of work involved. Time lapses make it look like a weekends work but go to a wrecking yard and see great rigs left rotting because of loss of interest, costs, change in jobs... tons of reasons for their project going south.

Had this year in the 4 dr and 235 city straight 6! She had a ride like none other but even with the 6 cly it would run and fly! Yes I jump some railroad tracks. Nothing like floating on the ceiling! But bought it at Bogus Ford in Harlingen TX for $750 with dad cosigning. Bought in 68 with 77000 miles and 19 mpg! Changed tge cracked head myself along with the clutch and throughout bearing. My first wife and I had our first date in this buggy. Sold it in 1970 for what I paid for it! Still had rice rolling out from under the seat from our wedding. Wonderful memories takes me back to being 18 years old! Thank you!

I have seen 1 impala in my small town, almost 37 years back, 1987, it was a 2nd owner car, may be 26 year old, baught by a prominent person of town,
Huge fins, fluttering soundbof engine ,
Quite impressive, when hardly that town used to have not more than 15 cars total.
    Old memories

great video...great car! my dad's first ever brand new car was a 1961 chevy belair 2-door liptop. your impala liptop is very rare as buyers either went with the cool looking bubbletop or the good looking 4-door sedan. the impala liptop i can't even remember seeing one on the highways back in the 1960s. then in 1962, the new 2-doors had either a bubbletop if it was a belair or the new design 2-door coupes. i think in '62, you could no longer order a liptop in all three chevys, ala biscayne, elair and impala. again, love your impala liptop sled!

One of the Racers in Arlington, TX had a 1961 Biscayne Coupe. It was powered by a souped up 409, backed by a 4 Sp. with Posi-Traction rear end. Nobody around could beat it. At the time, I thought it was ugly , Fifty years later, I see it as a beautiful Machine, that did it's job.

Unbeliveble work! You made a "MuscleCar 2024 Impala", to me one of the best cars never released in USA. I'm Italian, I know what I say because my father had a black 1961 Impala in the late 70ies and all 80ies. Chevrolet, to me, made a real great car. You are amazing guys, what You did is unbelievable to me. All my compliments (You made a car for my actual 68 years of age 😁). Very well done, all my compliments.

the chevrolet impala's in-line six cylinder engine is an engine I like very much..
but it is very difficult to find an in-line six cylinder impala anymore...
    in-line six cylinder......it's awesome..(this is my opinion)

That is what I consider a TRUE CONCOURSE restoration. It is definitely better than when it rolled off the line at the factory. The attention to detail is the best I've seen. It came out looking absolutely amazing. Curious what the car looks like these days since I notice the copyright on the video was 2010.
