Im 16, and i have been watching you since i was 13. I worked since i was 14, bought a project car, finished up the car, and now i just got my license, and me and my project are on the road! You taught me alot about working on cars and it helped me in the long run. Thank you for everything you do Derek and dont ever feel like you need to justify yourself. @@toddhill2362the 01 lesabre needed the most work, all metal brake lines, a brake hose, trans cooler lines, both front tie rods, both rear trailing arms, pads and rotors on all 4 corners. And many other small things like sensors and stuff. The century needed both front lower control arms, front pads and rotors, and a new computer.

Every week since I've called him on the weekends and we'd talk about the latest VGG episode - we're both into hotrods. He passed right after labor day, had a military funeral at Fort Snelling National Cemetery 9/19. Well fast forward about a month later and I see him at the gas station and he said "are you ready for a ride of your life?" Boy it was so fun and we didn't follow the suggested speed limit. i cannot express in words how much this channel has meant to me. i started watching years ago when i got my first car. your videos helped my build up the courage to replace my own spark plugs. after that you took my interest in cars and turned it into a hobby. i bought a 2008 dodge caliber srt4 as a project, fixed it, raced it, totaled it on a deer, rebuilt it and raced it some more. watching your videos gave me the guts to dive head first into an electrical nightmare like that. thanks to you, i was able to cross a massive item off my bucket list. i went to my buddys place and got his 1965 mustang with the 289 HO moving for the first time in 11 years. the look on his face when he drove it under its own power to the gas station was priceless. now, im taking these skills and making an impactful career out of it, and i hope i can do it like you do, using cars to bring joy to everyone around. it would mean the world to me if somehow, someway you can get this ol girl up to the woodward dream cruise next year. i would love the opportunity to thank you in person. god bless brother

I think his name was Tony and his wife was Rose or Rosa.
If I got the names wrong, he was the owner of a very well established huge machine shop.
There's a good story behind how we met and what a great couple.

I'd never heard of one of these cars before... I honestly can't believe it's a product of the early 70's. The beefy body, the aerodynamics, the sound of the engine, the body lines... it honestly looks like it came out of the 90's. Just a beautiful car! I'm ashamed that I'd never heard of the car before, but I'm happy as can be that Derek introduced me to such a badass ride. I can't wait to see it restored to its full glory. Holy Grail car as far as I'm concerned.

Im 69, The most exciting ride I've ever had was in a Pantera. I had an older cousin, long past, that built race cars and I hung out with him when I was 16 and 17 years old. He took me for a ride in this Pantera that he had been working on and it cornered better than any car I'd been in or since. I don't remember exactly how fast we took a 15mph curve but is was quite a thrill for young me. Wow' what a nostalgic moment for me seeing you working on this car. Please keep at it. I enjoy your videos very much and wish you the best. Thanks

I'm truly amazed. The evolution of Vice Grip Garage over the last few years has been astounding. I do enjoy old episodes and I hope the format doesn't change too much. The thing I look forward too most is the feeling of being there with ya. Two fellas in the garage/barn/field/abandoned building etc. and then the absolute hail mary attempt at driving a gazillion miles with something that quite frankly shouldn't be on the road. Absolutely amazing. Thank you Derek for your time, effort and dedication. You deserve all your success.

As a Hamiltonian in Hamilton Ontario, the ONLY appropriate thing to do here is when you get her altogether, bring the Pantera back up here to Toronto Motor Sports Park, which is right near Hamilton and Dunnville, and take her down the drag strip and on the road coarse to celebrate her Canadian roots. It would make for an "MOSES SANDLES!" show buddy! It would be excellent content to get some of the locals out, and get lots of great footage of our best Race Park too!

Derek, what an episode! I'm 64, and in 1971, I was 11 years old. I had this wall chart, and you bought stickers to scratch on of all sorts of exotic cars. The De Tomaso Pantera was the most exotic sounding of all and my favourite. To see that you have one fills me with joy. I'm in the UK and so some of the things like the bearings and bits you have to take out to get to something are very familiar to a young gofor. Me and my friend Steven hung around a garage in the 60s and 70s. Our small hands were put to good use in tight spots. He went on to have his own garage. Man, your hands are mangled! You have my fantasy car. I'm astonished that it is yours too. Couldn't happen to a better person. Do you fit in it?! Special car for Jessica. 😊. Regards, Stephen.

Derek good for you, congratulation. In 1973 a blue Pantera rolled into my tiny hometown of Rockaway Beach, Oregon. It was such an amazing sight that it drew quite a crowd. That design looked like it came from another planet. I have been a lifelong fan ever since.

I would feel a warm sense of comfort and boost of confidence knowing Rich is in the shop dinking around with one thing while I work on another. What a team these guys are.

This is one of my favorites. I love the challenge where you have to fix parts or possibly even make some parts in the future. I love watching a couple guys figure out difficult task. Reminds me of what made this country great.

I used to work on one of these (GTS version, even rarer) as an 19 year old apprentice in New Zealand.
My boss came to me one day and said "This thing is not running right, it struggles to get over 100 mph".
    It was running on 7.
Long story short, after the usual checks, I pulled the valve covers and found a push rod had gone up through a rocker. Got a set of pushrods and rockers and put it back together.
I had to test drive it off course, the only car I have ever had at 160 mph and it scared the cr@p outa me.
Hell of a thrill too though for a 19 year old.
Boss told me after it was the best it had ever run.
