My Parents were married on the day before Dday. My dad had just completed jump school at Fort Benning. The day after their wedding, he was ordered to Europe. He was in the battle of the bulge and all the way into Germany. He was in a signal battalion and ran messages back and forth in Jeeps like that one. Thanks for saving it.
Thank you. This is a nice format. Less polished, mistakes are shown. There is no music that is loud enough to cover the action. No corporate CEO nor stock holder to impress. No pushing products or sales pitch. This is nice, great job.
My high school buddy immigrated from Germany around 1963 when he was in the 1st grade. His Dad was a VW mechanic (he owned Rudy’s Foreign Car in Colton, CA). His Dad was also a mechanic in the Wehrmacht during WW2. He ended up a POW in France and was assigned to help out the American motor pool. He and his fellow mechanic POWs were fascinated by the American Jeep. They decided to test the engine and took one out (not sure how) to a field and placed a rock on the accelerator and stepped back to see how long it would take the engine to grenade. It didn’t! They all were highly impressed with the Jeep and realized with the quality of American manufacturing, the war effort wasn’t on their side.
My dad was a mechanic and eventually a motor sergeant in the army for 24 years. As a young kid, I rode in these old jeeps so many times. This brings back old memories. He passed away last month so it's a little bittersweet, but the memories are all good times. Thank you so much

Glad to see you doing your own thing! You inspire so many! Thanks for all you do for the car community!
Pewe took that engine out when I was 5 years old...incredible. This is premium content here. I love watching you guys when there isn't as much urgency and we get to see the beauty of getting old Jeeps running and sharing this knoweledge. The old timers wont be here forever. This really makes me want to buy an old military vehicle and have some adventures. If not a Jeep a Power Wagon, M715, a CUCV, a 2.5 ton...maybe a HMMWV but, I always hated them when I was in the Army.
I bought my first jeep at 15 years old in 1993. Started a subscription to 4WOR soon after. Pewe and Freiburger on a DED tour was my most favorite thing to read!!! Such great memories!
About 16 years ago, I met an Englishmen where I live in nebraska, and he drove an mb that he bought in Buffalo, NY, to California and back to Florida. Then, he shipped it to England. I helped him with some small repairs and maintenance in the hotel parking lot. He ended up mailing me a letter from England stating he completed the trip.
Since Motortrend has ceased and our favourites have come back to RUclips it's the best it's EVER been!! Thank you David for continuing to make superb content that we all crave. ❤
I graduated from High School in 1982, I had a friend in my hometown who had a WWII-era flat fender. Her grandfather bought it surplus after the war and used it as a farm vehicle for years. When she turned 16 she got the jeep and fixed it up, making it a daily driver (in the summer). She painted it pink, and it was a thing to see around town. We had a big regatta in town every summer, with hydroplane racing on the lake. I remember once one of the hydroplane boats on a trailer got stuck in the sand and several big V8 Fords or Chevys tried to pull that trailer and boat out of the sand and failed. The friend and her pink jeep came along and put everything in low gear and just chugged out of the sand pulling the boat out with ease, I remember being so impressed by the grunt in low gear of that jeep. Bombing around with the top down, and no seatbelts in that old jeep was a lot of fun. Kudos to you guys for taking us along on the ride. Knowledge and experience with this old machines its just amazing to see. Well done gents!
Mr Freiburger your channel has to be one of my favorite channels on RUclips. I’ve seen every episode of roadkill and roadkill garage many times and when you post a video like this it’s exciting. I wish roadkill didn’t end but I’m glad you and all your co hosts are going to post video. Thank you for keeping it going it is very entertaining and educational in some ways! Lol

Off Road Kill! ! ! ! ! Péwé and Freiburger are knuckle busting greatness. These collaboration episodes are awesome. The greatest show idea MT missed. "On The Road Killing It" or "Road Killing It with Péwé and Freiburger" or "Off Road Kill"
Freiburger, thanks for your new series of videos. Really great stuff. You've had a really good sense of what's interesting to a wide audience -- to me, it mostly boils down to "spending some time with you guys, as you have fun with whatever you're doing." And that has been the best of the old MT stuff -- I think Engine Masters is a perfect example. Heck, I have never even changed my own oil. So, what am I doing watching you guys work around engines each episode? "Enjoying spending some time with you guys," that's what. And learning a few things, along the way. And I especially appreciate the "road trips," going through your past a bit, and all of that kind of stuff. Keep up the good work -- it has been great, so far!
I am so overjoyed to see rick back. The first time I ever watched your content outside of the magazine was the proto-roadkill Buick episode. It's awesome to see things come full circle.
I used to love magazines back in the day, from the late 80s up until the early 2000s. I used to have a stack of them on the toilet so I have something to read before smartphones. But the world has changed, this is almost like watching the old magazine articles on TV instead of having to read them. It feels lazy but it translates so much more effectively. You can glean so much more information from this. You couldn't pack this much entertainment into 5 or 6 pages once a month.
Been following Roadkill since episode 3 Cheap Truck Challenge which was 12 years ago. Really enjoying the variety on Dave's channel. Something for everyone.
I'm glad to see David reunited with Rick for a video and not much could be cooler than a restored flat fender with the go devil. That vehicle is legendary.
Great job guys. Vaguely reminds me of the El Paso Pontiac show at the beginning of the video era. Rick is great. Dave is an icon. Inspirational, too. R
The Vette Hack, Crusher trip and Pewe Buick Convertible on the HRM YT channel were the prototype Roadkill before Roadkill. Then they did the El Paso Pontiac.
To me the magic about roadkill and roadkill garage is that they made me feel one of them. I'm Italian nothing of what they were doing in even immaginabile here yet I was there with them. Plus this guy has some charm... Finnegan is a pal and dulcich is the god of speed. May life bless you all
Péwé and Freiburger road trips were always some of my favourite episodes from the Roadkill stable... it's absolutely fantastic you're doing more of them now you're on RUclips again David. Thank-you!
All I can say is, where I'm at hasn't gotten over 20° today! Seeing you guys in T shirts, shorts, & flip-flops makes me at least feel warm, albeit only in my mind! Hope you have an awesome, safe adventure!!👍
The dynamic duo when it comes to Jeep content, I loved the old magazine adventures. Its all about a good story teller and they both possess that quality
You and Pèwè are legends! You guy's mesh so well together and feed off each other in a very positive way. When is the next episode coming out!? I cannot wait!
I learned to drive on a 46 Willy’s jeep! I put 30,000 miles on that jeep through my teen years! Used it for camping through to my 30’s! Awesome vehicles! They can go just about anywhere!
When I was in high school, my older brother had a 46 CJ2-A that just up and quit on him. It would turn over but wouldn’t start. I looked it over and finally figured out that the carbon contact in the center of the distributor cap was busted and not making contact with the rotor. A new cap and bingo, it was running again. This was my first solo auto diagnosis. I was probably about 15 and didn’t have my license yet. Later I got the Jeep and later traded it for a 60 CJ5A. This was around 1967-68 time frame. I love old flat fenders and first gen CJ’s. I totally agree about the sound, unmistakable!
watching you guys pulling that engine reminds me of being in the army in 1979 in the middle of winter ,2 feet of snow, in the forest of germany pulling a jeep engine with a M88 wrecker.
This, THIS is the content we want!. I loved roadkill on youtube, and even subbed to MT for about a year. But for me it seemed to turn to just about making content. This seems so much more honest to me.
The Roadrunner making an appearance at 23:55 was a nice touch. Beep Beep! Keep up the great work Freiburger! Love watching you and Pewe. You guys definitely make a great team.
Mr. Freiburger The yellow stepside in the background might be worthy of a episode!?! Way back in the day I attended UTec GJCO (Mr Wells- body shop) Back then I stocked/stocker’d a budget build 74-80 4x4 chevy/GMC stepside off of Ute or pitkin ave (Teal/turquoise with white wagon wheels & 35’s) which was featured in the magazine! I was hooked!!!! My pops bought a 76 GMC 4x4 stepside shortly after …..which is still used daily by yours truly
The roadrunner at 23:55 is epic! Your comment about the fan sound is so correct . My 1945 MB sat on the farm for 37 years until my 14 year old son wanted to get it running once again. The moment it cranked up, that fan sound brought back a flood of memories of my teenage years on the farm with the jeep.
This is the kind of stuff you need to keep doing Dave this will be bigger than roadkill if you stay this course my father had a 1940’s jeep that I drove everywhere as a kid lots of memories here
I am pretty sure I remember reading the 4WOR article where you guys went to Alaska with that flattie in study hall in Jr. H.S. back in the 90s. So cool to see this, it's so satisfying, like watching Cobra Kai or something...heartwarming continuation adventures.
This will never not be cool… just 2 buddies, no big company bs, and a flat fender. This is the stuff that gives me motivation to finish my grandpa’s 49 cj3a. I learned how to drive in it when I was 7 years old after I helped my dad drag it out of grandpa’s field.
Dave its too bad you didnt put a post put for a road trip vehicle like a week ago. I literally just sold a 1987 volvo 240 5 speed sedan for 5k. It was nice too.
DF at his best and this episode was awesome! Enjoy the history and story of this jeep. No matter what happens DF, MF and SD do what they love and share it. Hopefully they are in control now. Buy some merch! :)
Please create a FreiburgerU, where you upload video courses to teach us old guys your knowledge. We’ve been following you for over ten years, and would like to do what you do with old cars and trucks. You can upload courses on tuning, MSD ignition, carb turning, timing. Most of us are now retired and have the time and means to buy these courses. I think it would be another great stream of income

You know Freiburger wanted to say "because Roadkill" on several occasions. I hate to say this but losing Roadkill has sort of been a blessing in disguise. More content, more hosts, a better assortment of vehicles and hours of quality viewing pleasure. "Don't get it right, just get it running".
I was so damned pissed when Roadkill got axed, but it's a blessing in disguise. Instead of 1 roadkill per month, I am getting 1 per week. Love it.

I love hour long jeep videos with Péwé. The road kill one is one of my favorites. Its the culmination of "never say die," I love it.
I'm glad to see David reunited with Rick for a video and not much could be cooler than a restored flat fender with the go devil. That vehicle is legendary.
Glad to see Pewe and David on another Jeep adventure. Priceless
This is one of the best episodes ever. Real time failures and repairs! Excellent
Thank-you!
Pewe is a man who is definitely in his element!
Love how this feels so naturally done 👍 no production crew in the background of the shot 📸
Just you and your colleague from decades ago bravo 👏🎉
It was just us and an iPhone
@TheDavidFreiburger you may have just sold me on the new iPhone 😂
Freiburger, this is great content. I hope you're able to maintain your consistent schedule because I'm loving this. And thank you!
I learned to drive on a 46 Willy’s jeep! I put 30,000 miles on that jeep through my teen years! Used it for camping through to my 30’s! Awesome vehicles! They can go just about anywhere!
Heck yes! I love these style adventures so much! Bringing something back to life, and trying to make it on a journey.
Can’t wait for part 2!
I love this. I was waiting for him to yell “Drivers meeting”. Can’t wait for part 2. From Australia.
God, this channel is so great. Pewe is a fun addition to these wrench-it and road trip-it videos.
Thanks!
Corona bottles on the hood at 22:30. Best way to end a day of wrenching with friends.
I thought this video was like five years old as I was watching it. I'm so glad its recent. Keep it up it's what alot of us miss
The Freiburger delivers once again.
watching you guys pulling that engine reminds me of being in the army in 1979 in the middle of winter ,2 feet of snow, in the forest of germany pulling a jeep engine with a M88 wrecker.
A freiburger and pewe hour long video, makes for a great Thursday night!
This, THIS is the content we want!. I loved roadkill on youtube, and even subbed to MT for about a year. But for me it seemed to turn to just about making content. This seems so much more honest to me.
Oh my god. Dave! This content is fantastic. Welcome back from the land of the corp!
Thiiiis is the type of content I never missed an episode of roadkill for! Keep doing exactly this!
Nice! Great to see Pewe again!
The Roadrunner making an appearance at 23:55 was a nice touch. Beep Beep! Keep up the great work Freiburger! Love watching you and Pewe. You guys definitely make a great team.
Rock and Roll, David! This channel rocks and we are loving the content.
Dave and Rick on RUclips life just got better today thanks for the content.
Love a D/F & Rick video. Yall should swing by and see Derek!
Mr. Freiburger
The yellow stepside in the background might be worthy of a episode!?!
Way back in the day I attended UTec GJCO (Mr Wells- body shop)
Back then I stocked/stocker’d a
budget build 74-80 4x4 chevy/GMC stepside off of Ute or pitkin ave
(Teal/turquoise with white wagon wheels & 35’s)
which was featured in the magazine!
I was hooked!!!!
My pops bought a 76 GMC 4x4 stepside shortly after …..which is still used daily by yours truly
You cant take Roadkill out of these guys Love it.
Every time we see DF and RP together the amusement never ends. Looking forward to the trip vid.
I've been waiting all day for this! Thanks, David Freiburger 👍
Love those jeeps. Congates on the new chn. Wish ya lots of luck. Doing great!!
Freaking exactly what the doctor ordered! Working on vehicles, adventure…..this formula is what all of us need!
LOVE YOU DAVID!!! thanks for all the hard work brother
Its good you two are friends, you guys play off one another well. Great work. Ricks optimism is contagious
All YT content makers take notes...this is how you format and present to tell your story. D/F has got this down cold I would say. Always good!
Thank you David!
Nice, thank you
Y'all are awesome. Was so upset about the loss of all y'alls shows but now i get them every week sometimes multiple per week and they are better than the Motor Dud shows. Keep up the great work and hope y'all get a million views.
Good to see Rick Pewe again!
