This 1939 DKW is a museum piece. Save this nice car! In a scene in "The night of the Generals" (1967) warmovie , i saw also a German army version of this car.
The Wehrmacht did not like two strokes - probably because of the fact that you have to fill in oil before petrol. So many civilan owners could keep their DKWs. After the war they made a couple of units at the original factory in Zwickau Saxony under the nationalised car industry's brand IFA F8. For the lack of cars in comunist East Germany they were quite common until the mid 70ies.

The four rings signified the four brands (DKW, Audi, Horch, Wanderer) that joined to form Auto Union in 1932. After the original factories were seized by the Soviets following WWII, Auto Union moved to Southern Germany (Ingolstadt). The new company dropped all brands but DKW. In 1958 the company was sold to Daimler-Benz and in 1964 to VW. In 1965 the production of two-stroke cars (except for the military Munga) ended and the new cars with four-stroke engines were branded Audi.
@@Ragnar8504 I had an NSU which was also part of Auto Union.
It was a German car and motorcycle company that later became part of Auto Union (Audi)

I admire these long-nosed cars with protruding fenders. I wish I had one too.
You would think that with a long hood like that there would be more than an in-line 2 under it 😄
Another great find and enjoyable to watch you work your magic !
Thank you!😀
This 1939 DKW is a museum piece.
When I was a kid somebody we knew had a DKW with a three cylinder motor. Being a Canadian we kids were all into V8s at the time.
This model DKW is was a father a automobil Trabant. Same engine, tank fuel, same stick for changing gear. After WW 2 german comunist enginerig was inspire to old DKW.

DKW had a Danish Director who became fired when the Nazies came to Power: Jørgen Skafte Rasmussen, and for years the Danish DKW owners had/have a gathering every year by his grave north of Ringsted in Denmark!
Interesting fact. Thank you.
Очень интересно.спасибо
@@gusgone4527 He became buried in Denmark, north of the town of Ringsted, and at least for years Danish DKW owners had a gathering each year by his grave! It may still happen? Finn
In early 1990ies a Danish colleage accused us "Ossies" (easteners) to poison us all with toxic blue cloud exhausts. Until I told him that the inventor was actually danish - this changed everything. 🙂

What a lovely little car. Great basic engineering that still works too. Very impressive video. Thanks.
This car has several bullet holes and a shrapnel gash in it - what a wartime backstory it must have!
You are very young, but very efficient. Bravo.
Great work and great save.
Your work was thorough and the running engine proves it. Thanks for a fine video. I am now subscribed.
Complimenti per il ritrovamento di in esemplare di auto molto interessante..lo stato d'uso è eccellente vista età.
Buen trabajo, felicitaciones. Saludos cordiales desde Guatemala, Centroamérica.
...what a convenient " barnfind " everything worked, and you could tell what needed fixing without testing it or anything!
In such a car there is not much that can refuse to work.
