- It's finally here. The complete time-lapse of Davin restoring our Ford 351 Cleveland from the barn find De Tomaso Pantera that Tom and Brian found. It's been a long journey, but it's all worth it when you hear the engine fire up for the first time. Now, hopefully we can get it into the car and hit the road again soon.

just like when we eat. Can you enjoy the food if you eat it quickly?
How mych is it to fix that old car campared to buying a new one? Could it be 50%? Or ....
Thanks.
Give a raise to the editor !!!!
Not if he chose the music.
100% a masterclass of editing 😁
I agree the music sucks at least the first portion@@chipsrafferty8362
And they shall receive 2 extra tacos, with sour cream.
That's why I came to the comments. I agree! I've never seen anything like this in 50 years of lusting after anything cars. The stop motion was genius.
The amount of filming time involved for the stop motion and everything else is nuts. Great job to whoever filmed and edited this. Not to mention the whole engine restoration and build.
The most well-made vid I have seen on YT. I can't tell you how many times that blasted Cleveland cylinder placement has caught me with the 180 degrees out snag. Hey so please elaborate on the two lean misses I heard when you'd blipped the throttle? Bigger jets needed? Or is it accelerator pump needs to come in faster or with more volume?
Let's be honest here, it's the engine restoration dat got us here in the 1st place ... then the time lapse and the rest just falls in its place perfectly.
For context - I live in a country where English is the 4th language, only have come across 3 Pantera in my life, v8 big block/small block are for the super duper mega rich, sultans and his kids .... myself as a working class dat will never ever own any v8 or American muscle, many here like myself, watch and enjoy Hagerty contents bcoz of our luv+passion for petrol power cars.
This is exactly why you never pay to have this machine work done on a rebuild, you can never sell it for the ludicrous goldmine you had to waste to get it done right. Buy from the sucker who already had it done for his deep hole pet project.
@@anandarochisha Dats pretty harsh ... but it is kinda😅
hey Aaron! 👋
The restoration, the filming, the editing... Amazing work, simply stunning all around.
66 years old. Auto shop 49 years ago. Rapt attention to the ENTIRE video. Memories. Thank you.
You guys need to give your editor a damn raise, those time lapse shots are god-tier!
And loose the 🎶🎶!
Cuz dammm ... not necessary!
Thanks!!
The restoration team deserves an award and the production and editing team deserves an Oscar, holy shi...!!!!
Growing up with a 72 Pantera at the house back in early 80s was so much fun with my Dad. This rebuild video is an oscar. Thank you.
The tape unwrapping and the spark plug sequences are freaking amazing!! Hats off to the camera operator and editor
Haha I'm a video that just started making car videos with my buddy on our channel. I'm taking note of some of these camera shots!
Loved the tape unwrapping. It was my favorite video edit technique
Very cool, the studs and spark plugs moving along and the studs rotating but no hands! How?!
love the Marathon profile pic!
@@malelemonade5979 Thanks! So rare for anybody to recognize it these days.
Love love love the time lapse and stop animation video! Masterful editing and thank you for putting the time in to make the video! Love the journey this car is taking and thank you for taking us along! Bravo
That engine idle is music to my ears! Brilliant work as always.
Old skills which I pray just get handed on, and on, and on. It is a real joy to assist people demonstrating what real renovation is ALL about., loved the fireball on first attempted (180 deg out) start-up !
The production on this video is seriously one of the best I've ever seen! The unwrapping stop motion and the crank installation sequence were so satisfying and fluid to watch! Thank you for this great video! Fantastic team guys!
Also, I just saw the spark plug part and wow that was awesome! Thanks for putting in this type of time and effort, it really shows!
Amazing Editing!!! I especially loved the untaping of the block and heads!! That was really awesome ❤.
It's just video with a lot of pieces cut out.
😊great job lots of experience
Yeah, the untaping was like old school clay animation. I loved it !
What a treat! Thanks Hagerty team!
Great video. This is the first time I have ever seen an engine rebuild and this was very educational and entertaining. I admire the skills and knowledge demonstrated here, both the mechanical work and the filming and editing.
I think redline rebuild is the only series I've never been disappointed in. Never shilling for any random products, not overloaded with ads, always quality and interesting videos.
I thought I was the only one who gets the timing 180 out. Thanks for keeping it real.
I think Davin does it in purpose. Seems to be his shtick in every start up.
It's a common mistake to make, I've done quite a few times.
Me too
50% of the time, every time!
Literally EVERYONE gets em 180 out. Me included hahaha
The stop motion of unmasking the engine was excellent.
Thank you for including some information on the engine upgrades you performed.
The amount of work, not just to rebuild, but to re-engineer the engine, is off the chart!
Thank you Haggerty for all the effort to accomplish this build!👍👍👍
An astonishing time lapse for a great engine
THE BEST ENGINE REBUILDS I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE, SO SATISFYING😍😩
Thanks for being a fan!
@@joelpierce3940 Lol they didn't use them?
@@joelpierce3940 Bad ass right!
Great job! Hats off to your videographer.
Thank you!
I've been waiting to see a new video on the Pantera. It's truly my favorite super car of the 60's and 70's. Thanks for finding this car and sharing the restoration with us. Looking forward to the next step in the build.
The ring brothers Pantera is the best restoration so far great job guys
The artistry of this video speaks highly of it's editor. Nicely done.
Very nice work with the engine! And, on top of that a very professional video! I love the stop-motion fotage of the nuts, bolts and tape, awesome!!!
That engine will for sure be an eye catcher when back in the restored Pantera.
I love engineering and I've always wanted to learn stop motion. This is heaven
I see a Redline Rebuild video, instant serotonin rush for me.
Anyway, that is one awesome rebuild of the Pantera's V8 engine! Keep up the awesome work.^^
Another superb Hagerty production. Thank you, gentlemen!
14:30 I like that you showed the challenges at initial startup.
That was an excellent opening sequence with just the perfect melodic music selection to go with the visuals. Rock on, Hagerty! (music was *Haul You Down* - Wellmess feat. Divty)
There is no better sounding engine than a big American V 8. Just listening to one of these engines makes my day.On my toes to see the installation of this wonderful new power plant into that Pantera, its going to be perfect marriage.
I enjoyed watching the time lapse. Thank You for sharing the trails and tribulations of the process. Happy New Year to all.😊
I agree, these are the best time lapse vids. We aspire to be like them one day. Just starting out with our channel
Huge fan of the in-between commentary. Keep it up!
Been here, done this. I managed to hydraulic a '71 Pantera's 351C by opening the "trunk" lid (rear) in the rain to get a book, then starting the engine a couple of days later. I was unaware at the time, but the bodywork and air cleaners are kind of designed to funnel water into the engine. It fired ONCE, (pretty loud -- a glorious, sad sound). Bent crank, blew holes in three pistons, broke two rods and twisted one like licorice, bent push rods, heads blown off the studs, etc.). YOUR motor is in very, very nice condition by comparison. Thanks for the great video that made me happy and immensely depressed and happy.
You guys have the best time-lapse and the most satisfying engine rebuilds on the web. Love watching these.
The amount of expertise and specialized tools needed for this project is pretty intense.
money gives you a lot of options.
Oh, how I love the sound of a 351 Cleveland!
Nearly 3 million subscribers and videos like this are the reason why. Thank you, Hagerty!
You really gave this engine the full treatment. Lots of future proofing to keep the old gal nice and happy for many miles to come. Amazing work.
Loads of time and energy go into a short video like this. Thank you so much folks!
Truly a labor of love for both the technicians and editors.
1) Nice to see master builders building an engine. Poetry in motion. 2) Nice to have the equipment and know how to use it. 3) You could have edited out the part about mis-wiring the distributor but you kept that in. I have seen that so many times, and not just on Ford engines. 4) The distinct sound of a Ford cranking......sure brings back memories! 5) Love it! Way to go y'all!
Back from the dead!! Great work once again by everyone involved! Also, the ghosts that help put the engine together really give Davin a break!😂 Thanks, guys, for giving us another excellent Redline Rebuild!✌️🙂🇨🇦❤️
Judging by the amount of time you must have had to put into this, I take it you had someone to do your Christmas shopping for you. Nice work!
Flamed up just like when Billy and Tony tried 40 years ago
Bah humbug
Right tools for the right job. Amazing process.
This may be the best video yall have done so far. Amazing stop motion, good soundtrack, great pause and explain moments. You didn't play music over the sound of the engine start up, thank you!
These videos are simply art, I love seeing a restored engine and with that characteristic sound they make, they are the best!!!
The editing and camera work is incredible!
I do love the redline rebuilds. Davin and the team are brilliant.
Is that a cast iron or aluminum block? Hagerty, when you do something, you do it RIGHT. From writing to editing! We come for the cars and stay for your awesome work.
I absolutely love the redline rebuild series and time-lapse videos, honestly this has to be one of the top rebuilds to watch, absolutely knocked it out of the park.
Cool to see the Cleveland running again… the work you guys did was impressive. My interest is what you do and that I had a Cleveland in my 1974 Mercury Cougar XR7. Sure miss that car.
That engine is a work of art. 👍🇬🇧
Not only way this an amazing rebuild but the talent that went into the filming and editing was very impressive didn't expect that great job all you guys
That engine sounds awesome! Nice job.
Absolutely love this engine build video, hope to see more in 2024.
That motor came out a work of art. Wow!
One of my very favorite cars.
Love the fact that you went with roller lifters. The problem with no zinc in modern oils makes flat tappet cams problematic if someone doesn't know to add zincor get special oils that still contain it.
That rebuild sequence is a masterpiece!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
my hat is off to ya. 180 out and you left it in the video...respect. we have all done it. takes an honest guy to leave it in.
This is a masterclass level of video, from the editing to the actual rebuild! You are 2nd to none when it comes to automotive content, regardless of media.
Very creative Timelapse and editing, congratulations to the post production editor and videographer.
Engine sounds great , and the editing was awesome
Man! Your filming skills are as good as your craftmanship - well done - both!
Well done!! Really appreciate the work that must have gone into this one! Love the editing and the beautiful old Cleveland.
Agreed, lots of time and effort both mechanically and video production wise too. Great vid well done. I hope our videos can be half as good one day
It's a good sound of engine 💪😍 awesome rebuild
The work, edition, and general quality are... Amazing!!! Gracias por el video!!
those timelapse and stop-motion video are next level WOW!!!!
Love the video but not a fan of the music
That was the coolest time lapse engine build I have ever seen!
Davin has woken another beast from its time capsule. Love the effort and energy always being put into these builds.
Edit was good but that music... I'm not sure if automotive shows use horrible 90's sounding music to feel nostalgic or if they still actually think it sounds good. Make it stop!
The best engine rebuilt video ever
The Right Stuff- Now this is how you tear down & rebuild the Ford Pantera 351 Cleveland V8.
With some slick time elapsed editing, kool tunes playing in the background with the
effort involved to bring it back to life. I'm glad you're saving this one. It deserves it.
The Pantera has always been my favorite car since I was a young driver, most likely due to
my first impression of it, as it blew by me at about 95mph on the interstate one day.
The Right Looks. The Right Sound. The Right Stuff.
Thank you Hagerty for investing the time, energy and money into your media outlets and auto projects. Once again the team did an amazing job all the way around.
And thanks for all you do for your community here in TC !
The special video effects are amazing. I mean, it probably goes without saying, everyone in the comment section has been saying it. But wow, it really was cool.
Panteras are so cute and adorable
I can't even imagine how much pain had gone into in editing the video, hatsoff bro💯👌💖
All my respect my congratulations
From an old Italian mechanic
That’s what I call passion
Cleveland it's a creature of beauty
Wow! From all of the craftsmanship to the time lapse magic-a very satisfying video. I just wonder how much this job would have cost me if I just walked in off the street.
Thanks so much for including the challenges getting it started. Videos often show first click start up on a fresh build but that doesn’t always happen!
Hagerty really gets me - I'm not really into wrenching or cars so instead of listening to the people talk about what they are discovering as they strip the motor, just fast forward with generic muzak - brilliant.
That editor!!! Give him a raise!!!
I would love to rebuild an engine with Davin 💪
That has to be the most entertaining engine rebuild video I’ve ever seen.
Always a joy to watch videos on this channel
Moving time-lapse, a feast to the eyes 🤤
Amazes me how much work goes into refreshing and updating an engine! Loved the editing work for this video too, both aspects are thoroughly satisfying to see the end result
Sir i just want to say i really appreciate your videos and i just love mechanical engineer, civil engineer and just building construction and engineer in general. Thank you for inspiring me sir.
Delvin on the Bridgeport along with all the other machining ,disassembly, reassembling, paint !!!! Out of this world !!!That man knows how to Build a Motor !!!!!! Top notch
This video is a work of art. Amazing. Great vision and execution.
WOW with the editing!!! Holy Next Level Batman!!!!
Those factory fresh gold Welch plugs look brilliant with the cerulean blue block!
Loved this build from barn to stand. Awsome
You have the best job in the world. I wanna rebuild engines
I love these dolly shot engine videos, and we haven't had one in too long!
