I don't know what it is with American engine builders, but they seem to be the most down to earth people that you could spend forever picking their brains and they would be happy talking to you. That last comment Jay said, if he tears it up, we'll do it again. What a legend!
I am 67 years old, and have specialized in high performance engines for over 40 years. Where have you been?? You are the best engine builder I have seen on the net You are clearly experienced at your work n you have all the hall marks of a quality engine man. All the correct answers to all the questions. Good on you old man. There is hope for the young blokes yet. Thank you mate.
This video was absolutely sick. The production quality, and just being walked through step by step on how to assemble these engines with absolute care is such a special thing to see in the world, and even more so on RUclips. I don't even own a K20 and I picked this video APART. Thanks to everyone at Real Street for making this awesome content
Meticulously calculating and testing to find the exact minimum material to put in each area while maintaining impressive operating strength. It’s very impressive lol.
The best part of the whole video was when jay said he’s important, and if he tears it up we’ll rebuild it all again. That is definition of quality people.
Learned something. Was having trouble with my rings poping out my compressor. Going to try push it down faster. Also met Jay at Real Street last year when i visited the place with my gf. Awesome guy.
Extremely well produced and very detailed video. I totally love the Bob Ross part, Ricky was like "Bob Ross who"?? Jay and Real St. keep up the great videos, these help lift the fog for all who have never built an engine before. My old man was with Honda for 28 years and him and I have built a few engines (in stock form) and when I showed him this video he was like "this guy knows what he is doing, and you can tell he's done this for a long time".
He’s amazing and articulate when it comes to explaining different steps of the build. His attention to detail is phenomenal and this was an amazing opportunity learning from one of the best in the industry
I'd like to add an option to those that may not know. There are air powered oil primers that can be used to pre-lube before start up. You just hook the hose to the oil sender passage to feed oil to the whole engine. This should only be done RIGHT before firing to not remove the high quality assembly oil off the journals if you don't intend on starting it right away. Excellent build video and patience explaining to the less experienced guys !
I had a question about the motor being timed. Before taking the motor Apart should it be at TDC? And similarly when putting pistons rods in do we have to check if it’s in TDC or can we only set the timing once after assembly with the timing marks?
100 mile run in for a full rebuild what you recommend? Such mixed opinions on running in. Just done my first 100 on a fresh build but plan on doing 600 -800 run in miles whilst also bedding in new clutch before going for tuning
Hey Jay; when you went back to double check the torque specs on the timing assembly, did you swap your socket out for an extension with a chrome socket and bump up the torque wrench to reach that torque spec slower? Assuming the extension absorbs some of that torque force?
Nice video 👍the passion i love it 🙌 I have a question i am building a engine to with a friend of my its our first time so i think i will bump on a couple of things but yeah that's the experience you need to build 😉 I want to change my pistons but dont know wich compression ratio i should use its a k20a2 and want to drive it on pump gas octaan 98 and have 1200cc injectors And have a precision 6262bb turbo Maybe around 10.0:1 or 9.0:1 and wich pistons to use cp or wiseco and rods manley h-beam? I hope you guys can help me out👍 Would really appreciate it 🙌 And continue making vids with that passion i love it 😁
Jay, I love your engine build videos. I've got a B20vtec build I want to complete my self. I'm in North FL. Can you share which machine shop you used for your B20 build?
“Who is bob ross?” Bob ross is the guy that gives everyone that has ZERO artistic ability an imagination to make them feel like they could be a world class painter. He was the man. RIP Bob Ross ♡
That wouldn't give you oil on journals without spinning crankshaft. Real priming is to push oil through system without spinning crankshaft. But anyway that's good extra safety mesure
@@el_kuks yeah but you are always going to lube it with something while you assemble the engine. he says here ruclips.net/video/0x7WXjGQNaM/видео.html that you arent going to prime the oil system and you will start it with a few seconds of no oil pressure. you can absolutely fill the system by cranking it over with the fuel pump disconnected.
You should fire that dude for the bob ross incident. I died when you said it just picturing his face with that genuine smile when he smack the brush on the easel
I did not see the cams being degreed. I am hoping that was done in the pre-assembly. Stacked tolerances are an issue for every engine ever made. From a flat-head to f1. That’s my one gripe on an otherwise great video.
Samantha and David had been planning their European road trip for months. They had bought a brand new Chevrolet Z06, their dream car, and were eager to hit the open road. The couple had mapped out a route that would take them through the most picturesque towns and cities in Europe. But what they didn't anticipate was that their journey would be filled with unexpected adventures. It all started on the first day of their trip. They were driving through the French countryside when the fuel gauge on their car suddenly broke. They were stranded on the side of the road for hours, waiting for a tow truck to arrive. While they waited, they decided to watch the latest car news on RUclips to pass the time. After finally getting their car fixed, they continued on their journey, excited for the adventures ahead. But they soon realized that their fuel gauge wasn't the only thing that was going to cause them trouble. Over the next few days, they found themselves stranded on the side of the road not once, not twice, but six times! Each time they were stranded, they had to wait for hours for a tow truck to arrive. But despite the setbacks, Samantha and David refused to let their spirits be dampened. They used their time stranded on the side of the road to explore the surrounding areas, discovering hidden gems they might not have found otherwise. From exploring quaint villages in Italy to hiking through the Swiss Alps, Samantha and David made the most of every moment of their trip. And every time they got stranded, they found a new adventure waiting for them. Finally, after their sixth breakdown, they arrived at their final destination: the German Autobahn. They hit the gas and raced down the highway, their Chevrolet Z06 purring beneath them. As they sped along at top speed, they couldn't help but feel grateful for every adventure, every setback, and every moment of their trip. They had truly experienced the best of Europe, and it was all thanks to their broken fuel gauge.
Make one with the B-series Turbo setup, it would be the world to me 😉 and I will order the parts for sure with u guys, it did it before and made a nice comment on google for your business.
Washing your hands after handling the block exterior... Now that's a strange one! I would never have thought of that, yet when you think about it, it makes perfect sense. In a way you're a surgeon Jay, and you know contamination can ruin your work. Proper "disinfection" is critical.
I wonder why you use the oil squirters whit forged pistons & other people they eliminate those for more oil pressure 🧐 because the forged pistons don’t need lubrication That what I see in other peoples built
