This band are criminally underrated. They were there with Zepplin, Sabbath and Deep Purple. They were just as influential but never got the recognition. Metal Gods.

At the risk of repeating myself from the "Sunrise" reaction, you now need to do the following: "Gypsy", "Salisbury", "High Priestess", "July Morning". Their Uriah Heep Live album from 1973 is a top notch engineered recording. Must listen to some songs off of it.

Yes! Love that you're getting back into Uriah Heep, also glad you've got your dad helping you to find the finer things that are rock. It takes a person with a diverse taste to appreciate REAL classic rock. I've always thought that Uriah Heep was a lot like Deep Purple, with the way they utilize the organ in their music, yet still, they have their own style. I hope you continue to delve into more, this is awesome, thanks!

  • @lawrencecooper2361

The Heepsters were like a junior league Deep Purple. They didn't get enough respect. This tune in particular is one of all time great bangers. Ken Hensley (organ) and Mick Box (guitar) were engaged in a HEAVY competition but Lee Kerslake stole the show with his completely mental drumming at the end. Incidentally the African drummers known as Osibisa sat in on the this song. I remember well when this came out. Most of us were in various altered states and a general rule was stay on the first floor and don't look in mirrors. So they came out with this album cover

    • @79BlackRose

Look at yourself is heeps heaviest album. 3rd album..its great you guys are reviewing. Thank you for playing heep..ive been a fan since 70 love this band..when look at yourself came out in 71. Ie the tour..they were supported by thin lizzy..with Eric Bell..another great band..so i wasn't really into zeppelin liked a few of there songs...but i really liked purple sabbath ufo scorpions priest rainbow AC-DC with bon Scott..but heep were unique those block and step harmonies. David's vocals and kens completely awesome. Mick box always says we have 5 singers in heep....it's so right so many rock fans say heep were so underated..i saw them with David gary. Then with John Wetton..then with John lawton...him and David both had magnificent voices..when ken left after conquest..I didn't listen to heep for age's. Until sea of light and sonic...the rest is history 🎵🎶🎹🤘🎸thanks again for playing heep god bless you both..heep forever 🎵🎶🎸🎹

Don't overlook the message of this song: it's absolutely vital for anyone who aspires to decency, to take a good hard look at themselves from time to time. It's not pleasant, and it can be daunting. But if you don't do it, you're almost guaranteed to slide into lazy jerkdom.
Muster the courage to take that hard look. You probably haven't done anything so terrible that you can't bear to look at yourself, so you don't have to be afraid. Do it, and be the better for it.
This has been a PSA from someone who listened to Uriah Heep in his teen years and is probably the better for it.

Ken Hensley's keys were every bit as compelling as Jon Lord's, and David Byron's vocals carry as well as Ian Gillan's. Mick Box and Gary Thain are no slouches on Guitar and Bass, respectively. as ive said there are many many bands which have gone under the RADAR Ive been lucky to swap collections with people over the years but even then there are things outside my scope. Its increadable how different things can sound, cynically we are told that everything has been done and everything has to be similar.
But this isnt true it just takes courage and the want to take a chance on failing even now good music is being made if you look in the right places.
