According to Ken Hensley (writer and performer), she represents an Earthly godess full of wisdom. The song was inpired when Ken was suffering depression and the daughter of his local vicar knocked on his door, she was dressed in black. Her visit and wise words dragged him out of depression and gave him hope.

Thanks for listening to Heep's best known song. I'm a Heep fan since 1970 and some typical Heep-songs from the famous "Byron-era" (1970-76) are: The Wizard, Time To Live, Circle Of Hands, Weep In Silence, Wonderworld, Stealin', Echoes In The Dark and Look At Yourself. And many, many other great songs - of course. Best ballads of this period: Rain and Why Did You Go. Best heavy song: Shadows Of Grief. All of them highly recommended; bye :)

Thank you very much for doing Uriah Heep, not many have reacted to them. Now that you've heard them next you should see them, great musicians and David Byron was a great vocalist ... try July Morning live 1973

This is pretty tame for a Uriah Heep song. Their concerts were always loud and rockin'! Try reacting to any of their songs from the Look At Yourself album, side one: Look At Yourself, I Wanna Be Free, July Morning especially.

Uriah Heep was one of the best "Heavy Metal"bands of the early 70s and they hed the vocals that none of the heavy bands had.Have a listen to Gypsy,Easy Living and my favourite,The Wizard.Thank you for the reaction to this very underated band.

truly epic reaction video, for a truly epic tune from a truly epic band! Thank you :) I would really like to see your reaction to one of their sweetest songs, "RAIN". I think you will really enjoy it and the talent necessary to make this song. It is a bit different from a lot of Uriah Heep's music, which also sets this tune apart

Nice reaction. I never paid much attention to Uriah Heep when they were current but I understood that they were a Christian band. Sometimes writers use symbolism that make the listener have to really stretch to get the meaning. I'm no theologian but if I may, the 'fight' that he could not win was his rebellion against God. Jesus said ,'He who is not with me is against me'. A clue at the start is that 'she came one lonely Sunday morning', a day that the Church usually meets although 'she' can come at any time. In Hebrew, God's Holy Spirit is feminine. The writer is talking about the day that the Holy Spirit came and showed him his need to put his faith in God. His struggles 'fight' did not end but he now had the wisdom to see his way through them. He knew he was no longer 'alone'. Jesus said that to those who put their faith in Him, He would send the Holy Spirit to live in them. 'But now I know I'm not alone'. At the end, he is advising others to listen to Her. A Christian reading the lyrics can follow the story perfectly. This was a really good reaction; thank you two for the work you put in to make these videos.

Keyboardist Ken Hensley was the Tuomas Holopainen of his day. Please do "Salisbury" from the album of the same name.

Try their song, "The Park." I don't think David Byron's voice sounded more beautiful and delicate.
