      I don't know anything about the justice system in Canada, but while no one can tell with more details, the story sounds like some crazy psychotic episode. People during a psychotic episode have really crazy beliefs and don't realize what they are doing. Once the psychotic episode is over, they might realise what happened and be just as horrified as everyone else. It's possible to have only one psychotic episode in a lifetime and then be completely normal, but another one can occur at any time. I heard a true story from a forensic psychiatrist that someone daughter was babysitting her baby sister and she had a psychotic episode and ki*led the baby believeing it's going to resurrect. She was later treated in a psychiatric unit and I think she pleaded not guilty due to insanity. I assume it was similar in this person's case and while it's bad if dangerous people are released, you'd also not want your dad suffering with dementia charged with something horrible becuse it's not him but an illness that did the crime.

      Even though I agree this person should not be allowed to walk free, he was clearly in the middle of a schizophrenic episode. This man _was_ a victim. He also was a perpetrator and the person responsible for an heinous and unforgivable crime against an innocent man. Thus, he should not be able to leave whatever "program" he was enrolled in. Still. I doubt he was sound of mind. I'd risk it and say that he was as much of a product of circumstance as poor Vincent. May he rest in peace.

Li was out of control but seemed to be lucid enough to proudly display his new "trophy" as he darted around inside the bus screaming (almost roaring), stabbing at Tim's body and cutting out organs (which Li also proudly paraded around). Voices some people can hear in their mind can threaten the person so much that the whole thing feel as real as it would be with an another person. Some people with schizophrenia have said that they didn't wanna commit a crime but they felt their life were on the line because of these voices, and they spoke of the voices as if they were people who actually threatened them. I usually believe the ones with schizophrenia that they didn't wanna commit a crime IF the voices have threatened them. If they have told the police what the voices said word by word.
      I know that the person still need to do something for the crime they committed, just that they get a shorter time due to being threatened.
      None of us will ever experience how real these voices feel unless we somehow develop schizophrenia. By that I mean people who are more likely to develop it.

    I was a young naive adult when this occured. I remember reading the news and being stunned and horrified that something this bizarre, freaky & scary could even happen. Not to be dramatic, but it took a bit of my innocence away. It showed me the horrors of the "real world" and left its mark on me.

    • @ankaplanka
      @ankaplanka 3 года назад +5

      (sorry for it being really long, I just get surprised at how many people can still be naive even as adults, if you read this you will understand why I think like that)
      This didn't surprise me that much, except the fact that he held up the head and later the body to show the others what he did.
      In a way, I'm kinda envious how you managed to stay naive until adulthood. Not to sound like I'm assuming you to be it, but do you happen to be neurotypical? (someone with the typical conditon, or as many people call it, "normal")
      I'm autistic, and with my curiosity and my search for the truth in most cases, I had already heard about different horrible stuff when I was 10. Back then I hoped I wouldn't get raped or, like the girl I read about in the newspaper when I was 10, playing in a pool that they later found out was filled with sperm, since that girl, who were only 11 year old at the time (and apparently had her first period sometime before that) got pregnant. She and her mom was just on a vacation to a place in Spain when that happened...
      Another thing with that assumption I made.. with the exclusion of people who have been surrounded with wars and other traumatic events, most if not almost everyone who have different conditions, or have disabilities or disorders tend to face the real world at an earlier age. And not having many peers believe what we say about said real world (unless someone managed to miraculously find rather understanding and rational friends), and not being taken seriously just because we act, feel and think differently, it really hurts.
      I learned that I HAD to wait for peers (meaning both the "normal" ones and many of my fellow autistic ones) to grow up in order for them to fully understand the hardships we have to go through, because the "normal" thing to be as a child and teen is to be irrational and later on dismissive (not all cases, but it feels like almost everyone in our cases).
      To have so many things to take for granted like that, and usually not having to be worried about whether or not people will dismiss you for things you can't help and being forced to accept that people WILL be scared of us because it's a part of their perception of the unknown.. I do know the majority of people have their own problems, but it feels like their problems are more socially acceptable, which is why I cannot help but feel frustrated over.
      We (who are capable of doing it atleast) are forced to accept that most "normal" peers will dismiss us up to atleast a certain age, if not even as they become young adults, while everyone (or atleast most) who are neurotypical, have to worry less about being reprimanded for not treating us others well, because it's apparently acceptable due to age and maturity.
      Since I have seen a lot of kids being understanding, even if it's just in simpler terms, I can sometimes not see age as an excuse, unless the kid is not at school age yet. But I'm autistic and we tend to think logically at an early age, so that might just be my autistic side speaking.
      I hope you don't take this whole thing personally though, since from what I gathered by your comment, you seem to be rather sweet. (hope it doesn't sound creepy, because that wasn't my intention). People who are sweet are not among people whose actions make me and others feel really frustrated.
      Don't let everything horrible out in the real world taint you too much, as that would be just yet another loss for our world.

      @charina enchente I agree with you but when you witness something so evil and so horrific, I believe you become stunned and paralysed with fear. I'm no expert but that's what I think happened to the witnesses. Also a number of officers killed themselves or have never been the same since. My friends husband was one of them. He actually left the police force due to this incident.
