Dear Managers and Business Owners: When there is emergency weather and if there is a possibility of looting, it's YOU that needs to hold down the fort. NOT your employees. YOU.
For real. I'm not paid to risk life and limb for a business that's insured to the teeth, lol.
Think the CEO of a multinational gas station would be a bit busy... 🤔 I'd regularly get called in the night when the alarm went off at my retail out of town store as manager... wait for the police and go in while they waited for me to disarm security. .
@@moiramarriott4403 That's why a lot of those big chain stores have franchise owners. The franchise owner has a significant stake in the business, so they have a higher motivation to have a vested interest in the success of the business, unlike a manager or clerk who is just working a job. The clerk can walk away from the job without notice and never come back, and the impact on their life is minimal, while the franchise owner (and manager to a lesser extent) have a lot more to lose.
Give me a gun and I'll protect it but unarmed? Hell no, I'd rather tape strip stakes to my naked body and try to wrestle a hungry grizzly bear.

Austin is such a great employee. If my boss told me to come into work at 10pm during a power outage and flood with cars submerged on the road to do nothing but sit inside a closed store alone in the dark for 9 hours, I wouldn't have gone. Even when he was very justifiably scared for his life, he didn't abandon the store and continued to watch it from his car.
I had a boss like that, he was a dick all the time but acted like the world would end if he had to close down early or worse - had to work the shift himself (lol he would end up working for 30 minutes then shut down early).
One day, about an hour before my shift I went to get ready. By the time I was ready to leave - it had gone from raining straight to flash flood. I called him to let him know there was no way I could physically leave my house. He didn’t believe me until I sent him a video of my car half submerged in water in my own driveway. He still had an attitude and said it was rude to call so last minute. Then get angry when I was like “yeah that’s how flash floods work bro”.
I know, work ethic is such a foreign concept now 😆😆
I'm a bit biased though, I worked a night job up in the arctic tundra in Kotzbue Alaska, where winter lasts 8 months, I had to ride to work on a four wheeler in -50 degree 60mph wind blizzards. My four wheeler would get stuck in a snow drift and I would have to dig myself out. And on top of that it stays dark all winter. It was much more terrifying than a little power outage and some light flooding. 😱
I was a security guard for a short period of time in my younger days... Night shift, just like Austin. There were only 6 of us on duty at this huge hospital, because, well security guard positions have extremely high turnover... we were constantly understaffed. And to add insult to injury, we just lost one of our coworkers. His name was Will. He was like 20 years old and went to sleep and never woke up. The doctors didn't really have a good explanation, other than he must've had an undiagnosed heart problem. Anywho, we were all really bummed about it. One night, about a week after Will's funeral, a new guy started working. I remember we were all being kinda cold toward him, maybe because we associated him with trying to take Will's place... Sounds dumb, as it obviously wasn't his fault. So the Supervisor gave him some quick, ultra-abbreviated training and then gave him keys, radio and a flashlight, and sent him out to do rounds. Again, this hospital was YUGE, with some areas under construction... One particular area was the brand new Maternity Building. It was four floors, and had glass enclosed, climate-controlled bridges on each floor that connected it to the old Maternity building, which was barely being used now. Anyway, New Guy (Jason) was doing his rounds, when we hear him come across the radio: "Jason to Dave, come in." Dave, the supervisor, was right there next to me and the rest of the officers on duty that night. We were goofing off. Not an uncommon pastime for us... anyway, point being, we were ALL together when Jason called out. Dave answers and Jason says, "I've got some water on the floor over here at that new building. Dave says, "stay there, I'll send someone over." He says, "10-4, there's an officer over on the bridge look right at me... maybe he could come over since he's so close." At that point we ALL rush over there, thinking that we're dealing with someone who has broken into the unauthorized areas of the hospital late at night... We get there and ask Jason for a description. He says, "No guys it was one of our officers" That's when we admit to him we were all together on the other side of campus. So he says, "He had one of our uniforms on, was about 6 feet tall, and was wearing a Baltimore Orioles baseball cap. We all immediately started looking at each other in total shock. He had just described Will to a TEE! He said the guy waved and walked across to the old building. Jason, being brand new, and pretty much shunned by the rest of us up until now, had no idea who Will was. We looked around just in case, but I think we all knew were weren't going to find anyone. And we didn't.
Good story, creepy
A demon known as a familiar spirit. It wasn't Will but a demon acting as Will.

Can we stop and appreciate MrBallen standing in the rain in front of the creepy gas station at night to bring us this strange dark and mysterious video in story format.... 😂
I work for a state hospital that was once upon a time an asylum. People reported all sorts of noises and seeing apparition of entities.
Several incidents happened to me one of which I was taking a break at 2 am. I took a nap and only to wake-up from a strange tapping with a metal object on the table located in front of me. I thought I had overslept and someone was trying to wake me up. There was no one there and the time was 15 minutes into the start of my break. Strange!
It’s so refreshing to see someone actually use their common sense and NOT check out the creepy spooky noises 👌👏😂
Soooo instead of seeking out to definitively ascertain the source of the noise for important factors, you say it's always better to just leave it completely open to wild speculation from people with wild imagination? I disagree. I hate things left unknown. THe reality was high-chance of being nowhere near dangerous as driving a car through indefinitely flooded streets, full of stuck cars in pitch black for a part-time job.
Honestly, I think it was staged. I think it was all for the vid and reaction.
I have no problem letting other people check as I leave.
That's kinda the point of horror movies 😂
What fun would it be if the opposite like you and many others are suggesting, occured?

It’s crazy to see how much his camera quality and microphone quality has grown, he has sponsors now and just a bigger audience. I am so proud of his growth and the content never fails!
Thank you Mr. Ballen for your amazing story telling!
I can verify that it can be very scary working by yourself in an empty building! I used to have a night job in an office type building and so I was in there alone most of the time. Quite a few freaky things happened to me there but the most terrifying was this: One night I was working inside of an office up front which was new to me because I always worked in the back area where production was. I heard a female cough right outside the door in the hallway area. I knew that nobody else was there but I jumped up immediately and said "Hello?" No reply. I poked my head out the door and saw nobody. I ended up walking through the entire building, even the warehouse area and nobody else was in the building! So glad I no longer work there. The guy in this video was very smart to go sit in his car! There's no telling what that was and no job is worth your damn life. That night I heard that cough I felt like running out to my car and leaving! I really had to stop myself from doing it and ended up locking myself in that office for the rest of my time there that night!
I had a night job in a hospital administration building, by myself, in Kotzebue Alaska, which is in the arctic circle, in the tundra, on the sea. Subzero temperatures all winter, complete lack of sunlight all winter, 50 mph winds and blizzards every day. It was terrifying. The only thing that kept me from going insane was carrying. No spooky ghost stories to tell though even though I was told the building was haunted by the natives, I was much more afraid of spooky humans that could make me disappear in the tundra.
This is why it's a lost episode. Austin said "screw that noise " and walked away. Had he gone and investigated the spooky sounds, it would have been a 30 minute main channel feature

This happened at my local Valero gas station store, during a mid summer heat wave brown out. The owner of this Valero came out screaming into his phone to 911. No sooner did he explain to 911 what was going on, a cruiser turned into the parking of this Valero and the officer went in with gun and flash light drawn.
Four other cruisers joined in all announcing themselves as they, too went in when the first officer told the others he had heard something, they asked the owner was the walk in freezer able to be open from the inside, before the owner could answer one of the officer stated he’d hold the door open, as they walk towards the freezer they hear another thunk like noise and ready themselves, when they approached the door one officer pulled open the freezer door while the others had their guns and flashlight drawn into the freezer, at that moment a large chunk of what looked like solid frozen snow fell from a in-line pipe with a loud “thunk” that hit the floor, bounced then slid” as the officer looked around the freezer, around the store and the back of the store with another chunk of this ice fallen, the officers surmised the noise was coming from the ice melting in the freezer confirming there were a few scattered broken ice about and breaking or crushing the bottles or cans in the freezer.

@@realgrimgaming2857 I fucking LOVE deadpool!
I literally just watched deadpool 1 and 2 yesterday.
A friend stayed over a night at my place when he heared a violent knocking on the door. It scared the living hell out of him because the house is inside a perimeter gated lot and nobody really knocks the front door without calling out from the gates first so imagine his dread when he heard those knocking sounds. Turned out, my refrigerator gives off that knocking sound whenever there is a power outage.
I see your channels are growing in leaps and bounds! Congrats and keep them coming.
He’s a runner he’s a track star!!! Austin said not today bihhh! And he locked the car doors! Period Austin you know how to survive!

To me it sounds like a freezer thawing out. Due to not having power. When the metal walls get warmer they expand and create loud popping and cracking noises. But then again it could be a demon lol
Maybe it's melting faster from the hell heat coming off the demon 😁
Can’t be that. Remember the manager said the other employees heard it to when the power wasn’t out and the freezers were on.
@@justinhayward5027 freezers go through defrosting cycles often which causes this. They have like 6 times a day where they thaw and freeze again.
I was thinking the same thing.
I’m a PhD-level sound engineer with 56 years of experience identifying demon sounds through science. Freezer thawing may account for sounds #1 and #2 but it’s scientifically impossible with 99.8% certainty that thawing made sound #3. Using a supercomputer statistical analysis, science proves sound #3 was a demon. So it was thawing AND a demon. 😂😂
"Screw all that noise" Right there with you, Austin xD

"NOPE" Much respect Austin!
The fact that the manager had reports of banging sounds from the cooler and she knew that other employees experience that too but didn’t tell Austin when she left him there overnight without power is horrible on her part.
Shld of been fined
The fact that she went in to have a look around while Austin sat in the car, makes me think she knows what is in the cooler, and keeping it/her/him hidden from the employees.... horrible indeed. 5:16
The plot twist to this whole ordeal is that the manager was probably the person doing all this. She force them to work there and then try to run them out of the job.

There are powerful spirits in the world with us.. we cannot do anything to them because we simply cannot locate them let alone see them.
They will be punished for manipulating with human individuals on judgment day. I did learn purification methods to help me and my son get on with our lives but one must do these things on regular basis like weekly because new ones come along all the time. Some of the other creation are believers, though and they do not harm humans unlike the rest just like in our world both good and evil exist together. What Austin did was the right thing to do.. not give them the satisfaction of manipulation. I’m a muslim and I constantly read certain Quran recitation to help quick purify a place and guard and calm my soul down. 🤷🏻♀️

The fact this ball of light zipped past, instantly followed by his turning right back as though hearing something in the same direction, without even finishing the word "cooler." Instant reaction. Spirits are afoot there.
Kudos to Austin for not going to check the noises. Like every horror film, they always end up dead for checking it out.
He handled that better than most Ghost Hunters I have seen on RUclips

The secret in this episode is dont take the nightshift at the convenience store by yourself during a blackout.
Crazy how the security cameras kept working during a blackout
Could've had temporary backup batteries. Fire systems and security systems will have backup batteries so possibly cameras do as well.
@@carculturenation2166 - I opened a restaurant a few years ago in an area that relies heavily on seasonal tourism, and as such, it was closed during the winter months. Other seasonal businesses in the area had reported vandalism, break in’s, and thefts....some even reported finding people living in their buildings during the winter months. So, we decided it was in our best interest to invest in a really good security system. It was hard wired over POTS lines, but had a wifi backup that was automatically triggered if the hard line connection was lost. In the event of power loss, it had a battery operated fail safe & would send a signal to my phone if anything caused it do switch to the use of batteries. There was no situation in which the security system, including the camera’s, would ever be down for more than a few seconds. So, you’re probably right.
@@DrAnderson1 I thought that would be the case.
The sounds I have a theory on. The thudding noises could’ve been the soda machines. They work with co2 and it would explain the pssshhh noise at the end. When it moves through the system sometimes the hoses will smack around and as it moved through it might have released some air. Or seeing how it came from the cooler area. I’ve unloaded trucks in my life. And just opening the doors to walk-in freezers and coolers the temperature will cause thudding cracking popping noises. When they really start thawing everything starts to make noises. Could explain why the lady heard all the noises.
“Screw all that noise”
That’s what everyone’s reaction should be in these kinds of situations!
Smartest dude in the horror movie there. When others go investigate the sound, he does the sane thing and leaves. I'd say a big ole nope to that too
Props to Austen for thinking to lock the store back up AND for sticking around, just in a place where he felt safer. I think I would have headed home!
What is he supposed to do if a looter DID show up? Confront them? Heck no.
I would have left too. But then I wouldn't go into work in the first place with the weather and blackout. Blackout means no cctv surely. So it isn't safe. He effectively got told he needs to be a security guard for the night. Should have paid him more with the risks he was taking. If anything happened to him, it probably would have taken the emergency services longer to get to him.
Call the police. I think him staying outside the whole time would have been sufficient but being inside allowed him access to more food and drink.

No Wucking Fay. Good move Austin. Yikes! You’re a great employee. I’m guessing you found a better job!
Sounds normal for refrigeration systems. During normal operation you have all sorts of normal operation that make strange noises, including banging noises. Without power, ice starts to thaw and large chunks of ice in a freezer can shift around or fall from the ceiling and make loud noises.
You skipped over the part where they said other employees had been hearing such noises earlier?
Austin's the kind of guy that would notice something's off and save himself.
Austin: "power out and flash flooding citywide. Do i need to come in."
Manager: "yeah, unfortunately though we don't have power we're gonna need you to brave your way through the flooding to sit in our property with the doors locked with no power unarmed and with no extra backup to protect our replaceable candy bars and merchandise for $8.00 /hour, cool?"
😅
F ur candy bars
I've had a few of those calls. Except it's icy as h-ll with cars going into the ditch all over the place, and a severe travel advisory. One time as a kid I slid my way in my car 2 blocks almost hitting several other cars, made my way barely back home, called my boss (as a waitress) and said I'm not chancing it. He said he was disappointed in me...how many people are going to go out to eat a restaurant with the street as slick as an ice ring? Other times I was a substitute teacher for a private school...only time I got called was, again, when it was 30 below zero, severe storm warning - no travel advised, icy, cars in the ditch...I said "no" and got my name taken off their list. It's just not worth it.
Yep, your life is not worth it.

I worked at an 24/7 gas station, and I loved working nights, 12 to 7 am. I also worked during power outages, when we were instructed to lock the doors, and just watch and wait.... nothing untoward ever happened. Loved that job.

The security cameras working during a blackout makes me believe that uts bullshit
@@keenl4057 yeah, if the power went out wouldnt the cameras not work either?
My security cam has a spot for a battery and it’s a cheap Netvue...

Some CCTV cameras anticipate the power either being cut purposefully or a power outage. These cameras have a backup battery and onboard storage so that they can still record for a time after the power has gone out. Usually the recording time and power for such devices is limited due to the limits of batteries.
@@keenl4057 It’s like y’all think electricity just vanishes when a power company has an outage lol. I can tell y’all are probably the people who don’t buy backup portable charges and generators and make med kits and survival kits, y’all would die lol go learn some stuff
Smart man! Very smart man indeed. If you find yourself alone & all of a sudden noises start, from banging, or moaning, talking, etc. instead of going to investigate you should just get the heck out of where ever you're at. Sticking around to "check things out" is how ppl turn up dead or missing imo.
