In India, you do get arrested for animal cruelty videos. As a kid, I remember watching govt. ads warning people about how Animal cruelty is often a sign that the person will go on to do more heinous crimes. This needs to seriously exist everywhere.

I used that statistic in a letter to my governor when the local humane society was wanting harsher consequences to animal cruelty cases. It's now a felony in my city :) instead of a misdemeanor.

I feel horrific for Linn. He just wanted to live as his authentic self, doing his best and trying to make a friend. Rhe fact Luka comes out in Linns shirt instead of his original one is sickening.
And it's INFURIATING that the police were shown evidence that his violence was going to escalate to people and they did nothing. The laws around animal cruelty need to be severely increased, not just because they are animals capable of feeling fear and pain, but because animal cruelty is a trademark warning sign of escalating violence.
This sort of stuff is why I'm TERRIFIED to meet up with any guys. So many of these murders start with 'Gay/Bi guy looking for a connection' and brutal death.
I refuse to watch the video because I'm sensitive to certain parts. Does Lins cat die?
Unfortunetly, Canada's criminal code is so easy on animal cruelty because of the strong lobbying power that the agriculture industry has in this country. It is unacceptable, and the police's chronic neglect of lgbtqi+ people is as well.

Lin looked like he was nervous and excited to be hanging out with a new friend but instead it's a psycho going to murder him, really hurts to see.
I was looking at that part of the clip and it just hurts. He was trying to make friends going outside his comfort zone and being positive and he just gets murdered for it. That's just horrifying and heartbreaking all in the same breath.

My cat is literally right next to me sleeping like a baby, knowing in his heart he is safe from anything that could hurt him. All animals should have this peace of mind.
I understand what you are implying, but lets be real here, you plan on policing all of nature it's self? Humans harming animals outside of food needs is something that needs to stop, but carnivores in the animals kingdom need to survive too and are vital for population control.

I guess I just meant that animals should not have to worry about abuse and torture by humans for reasons of experimentation, entertainment, and anything short of pure evil. They should experience some sense of security and normalcy in their lifetime and not live in constant fear and isolation. It's heartbreaking. ✌😿

I saw that recently. I cried at first, but then felt such relief and gratitude toward all those people who helped catch this absolute waste of skin.
He's so calm. This is the stuff that keeps me from going anywhere with strangers. These horror stories pop in my head immediately when asked. Lol.

as an asian international student i feel so sorry sad hearing this story, although I have a close knit group of friends I've met via school and uni, I relate to how lonely it can be sometimes. It's so sad that all he wanted to do was to make a friend and this is what happened to him. Rest in peace Lin.
I watched the Netflix documentary and those people deserve so much credit for not giving up and solving the mystery. People who kill animals should be fully prosecuted for a felony. People who do this are always sick and will do worse things
Where do we draw the line between animal cruelty and food, and why? You can kill certain animals, farm animals, pests like squirrels and coons, but we draw the line at cats and dogs? I mean, I certainly agree with you but that's still a discrepancy worth looking at. I mean, for one example pigs are smarter than dogs. We eat pigs but not dogs? Wild.

Another difference is the torture. We all die, humans, vows, pigs and cats. That doesn't mean any creature has to endure terrible suffering while dying.

I saw them in a coffee shop near the university a couple weeks before the event. I remembered because I thought they look quite fashionable. Fast forward a couple weeks later, they found Lin's remains in the park a couple blocks from my house. Each time I take a walk there, I can't forget this awful story. RIP Lin.

Unfortunately the Canadian system treats animals as property rather than as living creatures. We had a local guy shoot 2 dogs point blank in the face and desecrate their bodies recently and the OPP couldn't do anything about it. :(

U.S. isn't much better, almost every terrible crime video repeatedly says how the cops just brushed off people begging them to do something, or ignored a clear case of child abuse later leading to that child becoming a serial killer and on and on and on. I know they work hard but so so so many times horrible things could have never happened if someone had stepped up instead of ignoring it so they wouldn't have extra paperwork
I live in the city this happened in and yeah they are useless I was being sexually assaulted on a Toronto bus and police refused to pull the security footage or detain the guy and basically blamed me for being out on a bus coming home from work at 10pm . I was livid and I’ll never bother with them again .

Even if you consider it him “just killing an animal” that’s one of the signs of a serial killer, killing animals especially something like a kitten without remorse or care is a very bad sign and is something that they will eventually do to a person. So even if the cops just consider it some animal they still need to arrest them because that person will eventually become a danger to other people.
Anyone who thinks its JUST killing an animal should get help because they are a psychopath.
I agree, at least an arrest for killing those kittens would have put the kid on the cop's radar before he killed a person. Plus there is a good chance he sees a psychologist and is diagnosed with some kind of neurological disorder and perhaps treatment could have kept him from killing (I have my doubts about that though.)
Canada, and most free countries, don't engage in pre-crime.
@@carlauclair8748 Animal cruelty is a crime though, at least in the US. I think those cops just didn't want to do their jobs and so they brushed it off as if it isn't a tell tale sign that someone is a psychopath.

I never comment on these, but this one hit so close to home for me, it shocked me beyond the usual. I'm going to sit with this one for a while. Linn is literally so like me that it feels like losing a friend. His life mattered to me, at least, and I'm sure, a lot of you too.

@@peterf.229 Depends what you mean by 'system'. Both Canada and the US use the British 'English Common Law' justice system. Animal rights issues are unique to each country though. The US lags behind much of the West in animal rights recognition and legislation, and so too, apparently, does Canada
Even worse now with the liberals in charge. They want to give murderers and abusers much less than what they deserve. I don’t understand why people are like “well they’ve suffered enough don’t you think?” No. No I don’t think a murderer or someone who preys on the innocent deserve a second chance at life after hurting others for their own pleasure or simply because they want to. But maybe that’s just me :) if someone killed someone I love, it’d be their last day on this earth.
May the poor cats and the young man who was killed live happily ever after in heaven. And may they have perfect justice.

You’re not alone ;) I’m autistic so I don’t bond easily with people. I have a hard time answering to texts, going to social medias, etc. At the end of the day it’s my partner, my dog and a best friend that understand my differences and my needs. I have a couple of other friends but I only talked to them once a few months so haha. Don’t worry! You don’t need much to be happy. We don’t all need to have a lot of friends, to go out partying all the times, etc. You’ll learn to love it and if you want more friends you’ll find great people to bond with! Xoxo
@@solarose7820 oh boy don't even say about the social events and party's even thinking about them makes my heart beats faster yesterday was the only time I saw sunlight after roughly 4 to 6 months and that was only a short time and that was because that my internet had a problem and I had to go to the roof to explain to the tec guy

Yeah well a few years ago someone was cat-napping and murdering these beloved house pets and skinning them and leaving the bodies around town. Who ever it was, was never caught and the FBI were on pursuit even thousands of dollars for reward money.
That got everyone in town very nerve wrecked but especially us cat-owners. 💔😿
So I do what I can for our furry bbs someone has to help give them a voice.

It's no mystery that I stumbled across your channel due to your subject matter - but your straightforward "just the facts, ma'am" presentation actually makes me interested in reading the comment section on most episodes - and, even further, participate in some of these discussions!?!
You have an impressive meeting of the minds going on here within your "fan base" - all contributing different aspects of value. Some provide much needed levity after absorbing such dark subject matter. Others provide a honest and candid human reaction. But then - there are always a few that provide a theory that is just so "well outside of the box" that it borders brilliance! Plus - well, there would also present the possibility that someone who might have somehow been involved in one of these cases to be inspired to come forward with new details?
In short: I personally would be interested in watching an episode on the subject of cold cases solved through RUclips broadcasts. :)

Lin's only friend was his pet cat who he loved dearly. Lin was invited to make a film with friends. Not a film about cats at all.

My cat is my best bud and is absolutely family. People who don't understand how cats and dogs are family just perplex me. And most of all, how many times have we learned that deliberate animal cruelty is an early sign of a budding serial killer?? Smh.
Animal cruelty/killings are one of the first signs of a budding psychopath. It should always be taken seriously as quite often it will escalate to humans.

@@mishmashmedley I agree with that statement. I've got a pretty high respect for police in general, but when your job is to take note of suspicious activity, even if it's from an outside source, but not follow through, it's kind of discouraging. 😞
Canada in particular seems to want to take the “ meh “ approach too often.
Typical of police in Canada. If the independent group hadn't done all the investigative work that psychi would still be out there. They should've arrested him over the cats- it's a crime and indicative of a psychopath.
The authorities did not drop the ball. We don't in a "minority report" kind of world. By the time the authorities were informed luka had not killed anyone yet, you can not be charged for a crime you have not done...even though we highly suspect you will eventually do it.

I started looking at "Don't F*** With Cats" awhile back but I never finished it. Watching Mr. Ballen video has inspired me to do so. This is very important because not enough is being done in this country to stop animal cruelty.

I’m glad I finally found this story because I tried watching don’t f*** with cats on Netflix and couldn’t make it past the first 10 mins. I did want to know the story without seeing ANY of it, so thank you.
I live in a city not too far from Montreal, and I remember when this came out, it was so shocking. Crimes like these very rarely happen here, so it was extremely distressing. RIP Jun Lin. I'm so sorry he had to encounter such a horrifying monster.
