one of the most insane aspects of this whole ordeal for me is the fact that, had it not been for the error that resulted in the plane not having enough fuel, then anderson would have never lowered his altitude and samson (eastwood) would have certainly succumbed to the lack of oxygen due to the open hatch and died.
its just downright miraculous that amidst the seemingly unending series of unlucky events for the men, one of those unlucky occurrences actually ended up saving eastwood's life.
It makes you wonder about that prayer he said.
Yes! And if the door wasn’t stuck open he may not have been able to get out of the plane when it landed in the sea! Crazy!
@@jamespike5161 Not really. I mean, where is your god when children are murdered, or animals are abused, or people get C-19 and die? Huh? Where is your all-powerful, all-knowing god then??

Update: Dad passed away 2 weeks ago. Thank you for commenting on his service, he was buried with Full Honors. My Dad kept telling us kids he helped save Clint Eastwood when he was in the military during the Korean War. *We never believed him!* Dad and Sampson were from Seattle, my Dad went Coast Guard becoming Commander of a Cutter and was called out to search for the pilot and plane. He met both men while writing up the report. Dad is 93 and still healthy, I have to call and apologize to him! Dad just had his 94th Birthday...and still remembers this

Great job on the story, Mr. Ballen! I felt myself tending up on this one !! Appreciate your service to our country as well.
I love how he explains EVERYTHING during his videos..like what a draft is. He never assumes the listener knows what he's talking about. Fabulous story teller!
which he shouldn't, I guess there's a lot of stupid people around, Stupidity is a lack of intelligence, understanding, reason, or wit. It may be innate, assumed or reactive. The word stupid comes from the Latin word stupere.
That's exactly what I was thinking you know what they say great minds think alike and thank God for Mr Ballen!
I believe that’s for the benefit of his viewers who are not American. A lot of things in his videos you don’t have to explain to Americans. That’s also why he provides conversions from the Imperial system to the Metric system.
Sometimes when it’s stuff that everyone absolutely knows like what a draft is… it can come off as rude, for lack of better words. With that said, it’s a consistent method that’s easy to listen to. But you’re right, the dude ties stories together like few others.
And he does it without saying too much. Like he never says too many details.. just the perfect amount
Clint Eastwood was already a legend. Hearing this just is incredible

For those who are wondering about Anderson basically after the whole plane crash incident Lt. Francis Coleman Anderson went M.I.A January 29 of 1953 and was presumed died in 54 on June 14 if anyone is wondering he was in North Korea during his disappearance. He was 29 years old.

Dude it never fails, I love every single video you put out. You are one of the best story tellers I’ve ever heard!
Wow! What a great story. Thank you, Mr. Ballen
Sort of reminds me of Steve Buscemi’s background. He was a firefighter in NYC before he became an actor. On 9/11 he dropped everything to join his former unit as a volunteer and help with search and rescue efforts. He wore a mask the entire time because he didn’t want publicity take the focus off of the other responders who he believed were the real heroes. He says he would still be a firefighter to this day if he didn’t find passion and success in acting so he continues to be an advocate and voice for FDNY anytime they are in need of community support.
Honestly and sadly(for fellow FF and others), if that’s correct, that he wore a mask(Besides the FF one), the entire time working down there, it saved him from a multiple amount of heath conditions later on and likely death for himself.
One of the more lucky ones and glad he did.
Side note-I’m a local. I saw it happen enough times 🙁
Whoa, interesting!
So glad to hear stories like that about Steve Bucsumi. Also Rob Riggle was a first responder on 9/11. As one point he talks about these grueling 12 hour shifts that they had. Then they had 12 hours to eat and rest up before the next shift started. They did this for weeks. They are nothing short of true heroes!!
I did not know that, what an incredible man, have a good day

The reason why the sharks didn't go after Clint was because the sharks didn't feel lucky that night.

In aviation, the term “water landing” does not exist. It’s used in the non-aviation world by civilians and one day may even become an accepted term that makes it into the dictionary. I believe the point was that if you’re a pilot and you land on anything that’s not a runway, it’s considered a crash. I’ve only flown single engines, but this is pretty basic if you’ve flown anything.

You spoke my mind. Thank you. Truly made my life. 😂🦋
I like how he hid his smile with his hand while he giggled

Lol!
“The strange, dark and mysterious delivered in giggle format.” Is one of my favorite comments I’ve ever read on RUclips. 😂
Lol agreed 👍 I love his girly giggles when he tells the intros and thinks it's funny 😄
The best history ever told, I am so satisfied with the end. I loved it! Thanks Mr. Ballen!
I love snuggling under the bed covers with my chihuahua by my side and watching these videos on my days off and at night. Even though they are sometimes intense, I find so much comfort in these videos. I used to watch serial killer documentaries to go to sleep, so these are super tame in comparison lol I'm so glad that I found your channel.
He’s a trained killer and his laugh is a giggle i love it
@Monty Chronik 🤣🤣 love it! You know what's up! 👍 i wish.
It was like a school girl giggle too, hand over mouth, lol. He’s hilarious
The last giggle you hear before he kills you lmao
@Monty Chronik well said
He’s so serious about his stories even when they’re horrible but then he giggles at the idea of committing hate crimes toward the like button 😂
It wasn’t jacked but I can delete it if it’s such a big deal
@Scott Lipe Ah never mind, just deal with it
When has he had a horrible story? 🤷♀️
That like button gets owned!
@@moore.k9028 Horrible as in horrific not horrible as in terrible or quality.
This was an absolutely fabulous story and the ending got me. Wow. Excellent, as always.
Who else thinks mrballen should do a blooper episode!? i LOVE the strange dark and mysterious but i could listen to his sweet laugh all day ❤😊😊😊
0:26 why is his giggle the cutest thing❤
no
yes😌🤚
Yea
It was kind of creepy, tbh.
Ur gay
10/10 for designing a hatch that opens so that it catches the wind instead of the wind keeping it closed.
different times I guess.
Also sometimes design flaws never get caught because people didn't think of that scenario.
@@svampebob007, also high stress points during wartime’s so someone making is probably just hustling out models and they don’t really have the time to make sure everything is spotless they just have to make sure it’ll run properly
@@svampebob007 People designing the plane didn't think of the wind?
If that door stayed shut we would never have known who Clint Eastwood is.
Americans for you 😜🤣
The giggle gets me every time. I have watched this before....lol can't help it. ❤
This was by far one the best twists you’ve ever pulled off! Beautiful!😂❤
Chuck Norris looked into the abyss, and saw Clint Eastwood smiling back.
Underrated Comment. 🏆
Hahahah👍
Clint Eastwood smiles??!
Nice lol 😆
"Yeah..."
So basically, every bad ass that Clint Eastwood has ever played on screen is just a pale shadow of the actual man.
Yeahhhh
Except when he acted in the musical Oklahoma!
So true!!
A great white swam up to him Jaws open ready to feast and Samson said go ahead punk make my day . And thus Clint Eastwood was born . 🦈🤠
@@jimmipage9987 he also sang in Paint Your Wagon.
That laugh and giggle! Too cute! I had to watch it a few times! Made my day!
Lov your story telling . I look forward to these stories daily. I follow you on Spotify , an prime too
Why is this better than an actually documentary ?
No "artistic license" to mess up the story.
our short attention spans 🤪
Because you are simple minded
@@internetpig5354 Lmao good joke
It's the way he tells the stories. Its so Intriguing that it makes you start thinking of the story as a mini movie in your head. Hes just THAT good at telling stories haha.
