I love how Liam Neeson exposed the broken UK school system, where a kid can threatened your life, but once you defend yourself, you get in trouble, I'm sorry, but a kid with a knife threatened me is the same as an adult threatened me with a knife, this shows that kids can literally hurt their teachers because they know the teachers cannot react

Schools are shit systems full stop in my opinion, always have been.
One minute you're told "we encourage individuality" the next, it's made clear that they aim to homogenise all their students and send them away as obedient little servants to the system. There are exceptions of course, schools that really do encourage individuality.
What other systems are similar to schools?
Simple answer: prison and the army. Euch.

I have been harassed and my vehicles and property vandalized for over 20 years and recently threatened while on my driveway unloading groceries. It stemmed from one family who has spread lies about me. Those who knew me before that family knew what was going on but don’t want to be targeted the same way. One man and his partner had moved in a few doors down and I was friendly and chatted as I was working outside, even loaning them my books about native landscaping for our area. After the bullies moved in, they began doing things to my property as well and I mentioned that we have security cameras. His partner began following me filming me with his cellphone when I was outside taunting me. I ignored him but finally confronted his partner who had begun to ignore my hello’s and asked if I had done something wrong. He basically told me that I was a horrible person, obviously believing the lies. One elderly neighbor was selling their house but needed some repair work on their deck for structural support. My husband and I have helped them spending many hours as they have always been friends. We were finishing up a few days ago and the man walked in the backyard and my husband didn’t recognize him as I was married 7 years ago and he had never spoken to this man. The man ignored me and complimented my husband on the work who told the man that my engineering was the reason that the deck was now structurally sound. Then he complimented the paint job, which I had done touch up after my husband had caulked. We both ignored him. The man then said that his deck is having the same issues and needs work and without missing a beat my husband told him that was unfortunate and didn’t say another word. The man still hadn’t acknowledged my presence or effort and my husband realized the disrespect and normally would have offered to look at it as we have helped other neighbors. I told my husband that was great as we only help friends. The man is going to easily spend $20,000 based on others in our neighborhood that have spent. We’ve given up many weekends but the satisfaction alone to see Karma hit the man was worth every painful moment of work as the realization hit him that actions can have consequences. It might be years but that only makes the satisfaction better.

A few weeks ago my dad needed my help moving some furniture for my sister…to break the silence in his truck, I plugged in my phone & I played the one about Clint Eastwood when he was in the military. My dad grumbled a bit at first, not wanting to listen to any story…because apparently he prefers awkward silence…but a couple minutes in he was absolutely hooked. I was like “I can turn it off, dad…..” and he freaked out. He HAD to know who this guy was, and what happened after the plane crash….I’ve subsequently played him every Mr. Ballen video & he LOVES them. It opened the door to podcasts, and I’m now proud to say that my dad, who is still a grumpy old man who hates everyone & everything, tolerates podcasts about other old men…….and Mr. Ballen. It feels like a solid win.

    Another thing about Harry:
In his earliest film appearances, you'll see him credited as "Harrison J. Ford." He apparently had to change his name to avoid confusion with a major star from the days of silent pictures; although Harrison Ford had retired from acting in the 1930s, and hadn't made a film in over thirty years, there was still some concern about this young kid being mistaken for him. The same thing would happen to a kid called Michael Fox a few years later...and he would change his name exactly the same way.

obviously there must be exceptions, but a fellow teacher was telling us that her experience teaching in the UK public system was incredibly frustrating and unfulfilling due to the kids' lack of respect. When a kid spat on her face, she finally decided to move to a different country to work at a private school

I was a teacher of science but I left. It's soul destroying because you generally get into teaching to help, to encourage, to stay in your field. I experienced some awful treatment by students and there isn't much you can do particularly, when parents don't support you. I've literally had to hang up on parents because of their attitude towards me. I've been sworn at, I've seen a student slap another teacher which he tried to blame on me and I've had so many inappropriate comments and harassed to the point a student went to touch my bum. Due to my health, I went in as a cover teacher but long standing, so I had the same classes and I've never cried so much in my life. 1/3 leave within 3 years, most are on some type of antidepressants/ anxiety medication and a lot don't feel supported. Most don't support OFSTED, some feel trapped because they don't know how to get out and I don't know one teacher who supports the exams they have to sit. It's so sad seeing children trying so hard just to get 'poor' results due to the government who have noooo idea about what they should learn and what they don't need to know just yet. I'm glad I left, it was making my illnesses worse but I do miss the eureka moments, the fun, the good chats with kids who say what they think and helping them grow. Anyone who stays in teaching has my utmost respect because it can be completely soul destroying.

Having worked in various schools, if students behave that way with a trainee/substitute teacher, then there is something wrong with the school. Yes, there is some messing around etc, but not total disrespect as is depicted here. The students do tend to mess around, but they do generally settle down. If there is total chaos, then there is something fundementally wrong with the infrastructure of the school itself.

I didn’t meet that kind of disrespect as a regular teacher, but after retirement, I substitute taught for a few years, and THAT was completely different! Kids were particularly rude, primarily at the high school level! But, strangely, regular staff and other subs were really unhelpful and “back biting!” I lost my taste for subbing quickly!
