Helpful tip if you don’t have a cookie cutter that is round: you can flip a glass cup upside down with a wide opening and use that as your cookie cutter substitute! Hope this helps😀
Thank youuu
Thanks for tip👍🏽
thank you for the tip don't own any cookie cutters in normal shapes

I named my sqwishee stuffed dinosaur toy “Mochi”. He looks like a sqwishee little green tea ball of Mochi goodness!
In urdu it means someone who repairs and mends shoes
“mochi. I swear that is the cutest word I have ever heard 😂” man I really was a whole different person 2 years ago holy shit ☠️☠️
My wife brought 4 different ones home from the grocery store. Holy crap! Where have these been all my life! They are delicious.
I've only tried mochi once at a Japanese restaurant and now I'm craving for it everyday. Its the best ! my mouth waters when I think about it
Mochi is chinese
You can get them from supermarkets. Whole foods, Sprouts all carry them
What Japanese restaurant was it? I've never seen it at a restaurant before, only at stores!😄
Omg yes
@@GawrGurasBathTubPizza its actually originated from japan
Oh my goodness I'm so happy I found this! My hubby and I fell in love with this on a trip to Utah where we tried it in a really good Japanese sushi house. Mmm :)
I love the colors, this video is relaxing;)

I just finished my first time making this and it was amazing and it was also my first time tasting mochi ice cream
Hope you enjoyed the recipe! :)
Maysa El Souki I haven't had mochi ice cream in decades. My late dad is the one who truly introduced me to more in depth Asian dishes that haven't been Americanized. The last time I had mochi (mochi itself or mochi ice cream) was some 30yrs ago when we found each other by sheer happenstance. I'd ended up in the DC area raising a younger brother. Contrary to what I was left to believe, he hadn't died. He just had no idea where my birth mother disappeared to w/me. Some months after we found each other, we started meeting up each morning to go on a 10mi run on a trail along the Potomac. Considering how much we ate out, it was probably a good thing too. 🤣 Dad passed away 5yrs ago this past Christmas, but his love of Asian food has remained w/me. Just wish I'd figured out long time ago how easy it really is to make it home.
If you live near an area w/a decent size Asian population, I'd highly recommend checking out restaurants in the area. It's been my experience that the owners/chefs are more than welcome to make authentic or Americanized-light dishes, especially if you go during off-peak areas. It allows for finding out what you like, what you don't really care for, & what you can learn to appreciate. If you're luckier than me, you can learn to make dishes at home without needing to wait until empty-nest syndrome kicks in after your last kid has left for college & you find you have tons of time to fill. 😉👍 Our youngest graduates from college in the spring. At the end of her 1st year, I learned that I enjoyed cooking & baking, especially when it wasn't tied to that horrible question everyone hates, "What am I going to cook for dinner?" It's hard to believe sometimes that we haven't had store-bought bread in ages b/c I make it from scratch each week.
OMG! I loved eating this when young, it would always be the first thing to buy whenever my mother would allow me to buy ice cream.
It's delicious! :)
***** Thank you. I made it on Saturday and it was delicious!
Ohhh I'm so happy to hear that! Thank you for your kind feedback! :)
***** Haha, too bad I didn't have a rolling pin. XD I made it half way and realized I didn't have one, so i used the plastic wrap roll. XD
Haha did it work? You can use a bottle etc too. :D
So glad I have this because at stores they are so expensive
I made this with the mochiko and it was so good! Watched the video a couple times before to make it as perfect as possible. The whole family loved them and is now a new favorite. Thanks for the recipe! I'll definitely make them again and again.
Mochi ice cream is one of my favorite treats ever!! I will definitely make these :) Thank you for the lovely video!!
This is *the best* recipe! It tastes exactly as the mochi I love and holds up without becoming a rock when chilled. Thanks so much!
Edit to add: I made 200 mochi. Some with homemade different ice creams and some with different fillings. Definitely fun!
This looks so easy to make! Great idea to use your favourite ice cream...then you know you can't go wrong!
i just love how you replied to every single question. ❤ I am gonna make this soon and I hope that it will still taste good even with rice flour. wish me luck!

Eating Mochi icecram while watching a mochi icecram video 😎
😂I have mochi for Christmas I swear I love my family.
Fantastic presentation. A lot of hard work being put into this I can see. I will give this a try!
Mochi ice cream is delicious! Thank you for sharing!
after flatten the mochi evenly can I cut it into circle right away without put it in the fridge first because I don't have space that big in my fridge. I'll put it in the fridge after I cut into circle and stack them..its that okay?
Nope, they will stick to each other
Maybe, instead of making one big lay out, do multiple and try sticking those in your fridge?
xo
+Fool What about stacking them with the plastic in between them like shown in the video?
+Suga Swag bts army :))
How come when I roll out the mixture it doesn't go flat but a thick mixture . I think I over cooked it what do I do
OMG SO EASY! Gonna try it thank you so much!
Good taste in ice cream flavors.
holy cow. i live in hawaii, my boys are asking for mochi everything. this is labor intense.
DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT EATING MY FREINDS🤣
Thank you for the recipe I'm dying to try this out 💓
These are so delicious!
I mean after steaming the glutinous flour, why must potato or rice flour be used for kneading the dough?
Why not glutinous flour? Is it cannot stick as one unit?
Curious.
Thanks
Thanks. Namiko.

yeah. the potato starch prevents mochi from sticking to the table, rolling pin, etc.
Can eat potato starch like that not cook anymore ?
i may be american in my blood but in my soul im japanese 😊😉😏
Karen Ramirez yesss!! I feel the same way!!
Karen Ramirez oh dear 😤😤😬😬
@@brizzlintea346 look, its kinda shameful to be American, like i am, so you can be wild about it chocolate, but i'd rather be another origin than people like you
The Lord of Cancer can we all accept that every ethnicity (ethnicity, nationality? Idk LOL ) has its bad parts though? (I’m assuming you wanna be Japanese), sure Americans have obesity and stuff but Japan has it just as worse. Their suicide rates are high, and they overwork their employees and such and screw people over. but I’m not saying japan is worse than America, I’m just saying every place has it just as worse. 🤷♀️ I understand japan and Korea put up an image of cuteness and aesthetics, but they have their bad parts.
@@brizzlintea346 i don't wanna be japanese, i was just making a sarcastic comment. Though i do need to work on sarcasm considering nobody ever gets it 🤔
Thanks for replying though!
Thank you so much for this recipe. Finally get to taste how mochi taste like. Its expensive to buy it here. Thank you again it's delicious
Awesome!!
is there any difference in the mochi when steamed vs microwaved?
No I tried both, same or similar without major difference
what is shiratamako or mochiko ?
if i don't have this , what can i replace this with ?
Okay , i will try to find it at the japanese market . Thanks
glutinous rice flour
That looks yummy! One of my faves!
that looks amazing.
can i make the mochi (just the sticky rice part) the night before and then take them out of the fridge the next morning and fill them with ice cream?
+DEATHtheKIDFX Yes.
Yup! Yesterday after I made mochi, I left them in room temperature (in London its cold) and then took it out about 3-5 hours later to put in the filling. The mochi dough can still be rolled over and still as chewy! 😄
Wish my microwave was that fast lol
Love this! Totally going to make it soon
those things are so delicious, my cousin made me discover ice cream mochis and i’m obsessed with them!
how many serving is this receipe?
It looks like 12 :)
For me? One.
Normal people:mochi
Army's:jimin
Soo truewe
Jup that is True😂
Felt that
I love your videos so much!
i just used this to make daifuku mochi and it was amazing. they're so adorable
So it turns out 'mochiko' is actually rice flour. And this recipe is just ice cream inside 'bhapa pitha' if you live in Bangladesh.
mochiko/shiratamako is sweet sticky rice flour, isn't just rice flour, they're different, and even sticky rice flour/glutinous rice flour is even different from sweet sticky rice flour
What is shiratamko ^^?
***** oh , too bad in my city they dont sell them
Le xuan Chau you can use gluttonous rice flour instead :)
Shiratamako or Mochiko as said on the list.... look at Fred Meyer, Safeway, QFC or any Asian supermarket and where the Asian Food section is. When you use the starch flour for dusting, make sure to microwave it on hight for 2~3 minutes in order to cook instead of eating raw starch flour(although, some Asian stores sell COOKED starch flour).
Amazing! I've been watching all of your mochi videos and I'm loving them :) Thank you so much for providing this how-to video; I'm on my way to make delicious mochi food! Yum :))
Thank you for this! Love you so much!
Thank you for your kind words!
