    - ice cream of your choice
    - ½ cup milk (118ml)
    - ⅓ cup sugar (68g)
    - ½ tsp vanilla extract
    - 2 tsp neutral flavor oil
    - food coloring (optional)

      It was prolly good bc you didn't make the ice cream yourself. Most of the taste is in the ice cream. lol. can't go wrong there

      Actually, what we call "mochi" is in fact called "daifuku" in Japan, mochi doesn't seems like this at all. Mochi is only the rice cake without flavor or sweet filling inside. But anyway, it still look really delicious whatever we call it.

    Edit: I made it and really liked it! I did it with vanilla ice cream and the only thing I would change for next time is maybe add a bit less sugar because in my opinion it was quite sweet and I would roll out my dough so it’s thinner but that’s my fault haha

    Wowowowow just tried, it went out so well, and buddies, if you don’t have any food coloring, you can just chop 4-5 frozen strawberries and add them before you re-turn the heat on🥰it will also give more flavor to the skin part

    the recipe is great! super delicious and chewy. don’t worry if it takes a long time to get thick in the pan. you can substitute the milk for strawberry or chocolate milk if you want a strawberry or chocolate taste in the mochi part

    i saw your tik tok and decided to make this, when I was shaping it the ice cream was melting really quickly so if anyone wants to make this make sure you put it back in the freezer as fast as you can!! other then that, this was AMAZING this was my first time making it and u did an excellent job explaining. THANK YOU!!

    Thank you so much! This is literally the 4th mochi recipe I've tried and the only one that worked. I don't know if the measurements are translated poorly from some other creators or what, but they've all been disasters. This one is great! ❤️🍓

    Quick question: Ive read that some people use powdered dried fruit to flavor the mochi. Have you tried this? Did it come out well?

      I’ve done this before by grinding dried strawberries and it works great!! Just gotta make sure it’s finely grated unless you don’t mind clumps

      Sift out the too-large pieces with a sieve and grind them with a mortar and pestle.

    I definitely wanna try ice cream mochi but I really wanna try mochi with other types of fillings like fruit pastes, chocolate, and maybe some savory fillings. I also really wanna try kirimochi, it looks so good.
    Edit: 2 months later and I have tried ice cream mochi and it's become my guilty pleasure that I can't live with out now 😫 lol. I have some on hand at all times now.

      After they’ve been shaped? You can put the mochi back in the freezer for about 15-20 minutes so it firms up again!

      Yeah if you don’t have potato starch or corn starch you can use the glutinous rice flour to prevent it from sticking! Potato starch is best tho for texture & taste

    Hi Jasmine some recipes add corn flour in making the mochi skin. Your recipe only used glutinous flour. Is there any difference it makes to the mochi skin if corn flour is added? Thanks!

    Mochi is so hard to work with. I used to make mochi with sweet bean paste and man it was messy. You make it look really easy though.

    I’m sure instead of normal cupcake tins for the ice cream try mini cupcake tins and a melon baller for smaller mochi
