- ice cream of your choice - ½ cup milk (118ml) - ⅓ cup sugar (68g) - ½ tsp vanilla extract - 2 tsp neutral flavor oil - food coloring (optional) - ½ cup Mochiko, or glutinous rice flour (85g) - potato starch
Actually, what we call "mochi" is in fact called "daifuku" in Japan, mochi doesn't seems like this at all. Mochi is only the rice cake without flavor or sweet filling inside. But anyway, it still look really delicious whatever we call it. 😊😘 Have a nice day people.
My mochi dough is in the fridge rn:) can’t wait to try it Edit: I made it and really liked it! I did it with vanilla ice cream and the only thing I would change for next time is maybe add a bit less sugar because in my opinion it was quite sweet and I would roll out my dough so it’s thinner but that’s my fault haha
I love how easy you explained the recipe. I’ve come across Ed other recipes where I had to pause, rewind and turn the volume way up. Thank you for sharing this and making it easy for us to follow along.
Wowowowow just tried, it went out so well, and buddies, if you don’t have any food coloring, you can just chop 4-5 frozen strawberries and add them before you re-turn the heat on🥰it will also give more flavor to the skin part
This recipe is very nice! It helped me make my first successful icecream mochi. The last time I tried making some was a disaster, but this one turned out delicious in the end :)
What a perfect video. Thank you for walking us thru the video and giving us such clear instructions and helpful tips! "Add starch if it's too sticky, water if you want it to stick!" 💜 Thank you! 😊
I watched this in the middle of the night but I absolutely lived this and I am going to show my mom this recipe and ask if we can make it together :) Also I loved your voice! So calming!! Edit: new sub
Thank you so much for showing the actual process of it cooking and turning into dough. Mots turtials just dump it all in there and say mix till thick. Thank you for actual showing and reassuring us that the steps to this is ok and no need to panic. Ilysm. ❤
the recipe is great! super delicious and chewy. don’t worry if it takes a long time to get thick in the pan. you can substitute the milk for strawberry or chocolate milk if you want a strawberry or chocolate taste in the mochi part
i saw your tik tok and decided to make this, when I was shaping it the ice cream was melting really quickly so if anyone wants to make this make sure you put it back in the freezer as fast as you can!! other then that, this was AMAZING this was my first time making it and u did an excellent job explaining. THANK YOU!!
Thank you so much! This is literally the 4th mochi recipe I've tried and the only one that worked. I don't know if the measurements are translated poorly from some other creators or what, but they've all been disasters. This one is great! ❤️🍓
WOW!!! MY MOUTH IS WATERING!!! LOL. I'M DEF GONNA HAVE TO TRY MAKING THESE!!! THEY ARE MY FAVORITE AND ALSO VERY EXPENSIVE IF U BUY THEM ALREADY MADE FROM A STORE!!!
Interesting I've never seen a mochi tutorial use the stove top (I always see it made in a microwave). Great tutorial, they look very cute and your tips are great and I love that you explain why you are doing what you are doing,
I definitely wanna try ice cream mochi but I really wanna try mochi with other types of fillings like fruit pastes, chocolate, and maybe some savory fillings. I also really wanna try kirimochi, it looks so good. Edit: 2 months later and I have tried ice cream mochi and it's become my guilty pleasure that I can't live with out now 😫 lol. I have some on hand at all times now.
Yeah if you don’t have potato starch or corn starch you can use the glutinous rice flour to prevent it from sticking! Potato starch is best tho for texture & taste
Hi Jasmine some recipes add corn flour in making the mochi skin. Your recipe only used glutinous flour. Is there any difference it makes to the mochi skin if corn flour is added? Thanks!

I used this recipe to make my first mochi ice cream and i was good!
do you have any tips??
Luckily mine didn't work at all
Ayooo update doeee? 👀 XD
It was prolly good bc you didn't make the ice cream yourself. Most of the taste is in the ice cream. lol. can't go wrong there

Hi, does the dough remain soft after frozen?
Can you cool it as a ball before you flatten it out?
@@hleedayang8591 I feel like it would be harder to flatten if it’s cool because the dough gets a bit harder:)
Can I make Tteokbokki
from the leftover flour which I use will use for mochi?

The mochi dough looks kind of like fufu something we eat with soups in west Africa. Very cool, can’t wait to try this!
Perfect recipe for those who don't have a microwave ♥️♥️♥️

ill definitely try this recipe out this weekend
thank you
Wow super delicious recipe 😋😋😋😋 I will try it❤️❤️❤️
Quick question: Ive read that some people use powdered dried fruit to flavor the mochi. Have you tried this? Did it come out well?
I’ve done this before by grinding dried strawberries and it works great!! Just gotta make sure it’s finely grated unless you don’t mind clumps
@@jasmineandtea thank you so much for responding! I appreciate your help!

Sift out the too-large pieces with a sieve and grind them with a mortar and pestle.

Ur making me mouth water 💗💗😆😆😆
how long do i put the mochi in the freezer when i get done putting a little bit of water
After they’ve been shaped? You can put the mochi back in the freezer for about 15-20 minutes so it firms up again!
@@jasmineandtea thank you
When we start to form mochi with ice cream can we use rice flour?
Yeah if you don’t have potato starch or corn starch you can use the glutinous rice flour to prevent it from sticking! Potato starch is best tho for texture & taste
I will try to make this it looks so good!
This recipe is actually very useful thank you so much
This looks like a good type of dough for cake instead of fondant.
Wish I could work up the motivation to try this myself.
Praiseworthy ♥️
I definitely want to try making this! How long can it be kept in the freezer for? Does it need to be eaten same day?

Do we have to cook the potato starch before kneading the dough in?
How does YT know I bought some today. Creepy, but yummy.
Mochi is so hard to work with. I used to make mochi with sweet bean paste and man it was messy. You make it look really easy though.
Yummy
Could u use plain flour or self-raising flour or do u have to use sweet rice flour?
Very good thanks
Hey, what flower is on the mochi? it looks really nice
Can I make Tteokbokki
from the leftover flour which I use will use for mochi?
Ive tried many ways to do mochi and i wanna try this since i havent tried tgis method yet?
I’m sure instead of normal cupcake tins for the ice cream try mini cupcake tins and a melon baller for smaller mochi
