Bought the car a few months ago and I absolutely love it. It was above my expectations considering the price vs the overall feeling, practicality, comfort and design of the car. The 1.6 petrol is great in sports mode, very practical in comfort mode and I have no clue why Eco is there as the consumption is basically the same as comfort in any contenxt... Also this is not a car built for aggressive driving but it is rather perfect for anyone looking for comfort and for owning a very very different car inside and outside as compared to anything else at the moment. My grade (1-10) for it after 4 months would be an 8.5 and this is the highest I have ever given to a car to date. If it would have AWD available then it would receive a 9.5 as it would have made this car absolutely perfect. This is my view as an owner. I recommend the car.
Daniel, can you tell me if this has ventilated seats, even as an option? I can't figure out from the configurator, which is kinda bad. I see the heated seats buttons, but I'm interested in the ventilated part.
@@extreme8808…yes, as an extra for 2.000€ it comes with Leather, Massage, etc….
Best car reviews on YT!
Thanks, Great present for holidays. I've been waiting for this review :)
My pleasure!
Btw Marek, I hope RUclips algorithm will finally wake up some day so that your reviews reach more viewers 🙏
Thanks. I hope so too :)
Great review.
Call it what you want, this body style fits my needs perfectly. I currently drive a last model C5 Tourer but only rarely use its full capacity - the previous C5 estate helped me move house with a trailer and it just kept on swallowing up stuff as well as munching up the miles during the 350 km each way trips. So one of these with a towbar would be a perfect fit for me. I take the point about the high sills (me being quite an old git these days) but my biggest problem with my C5 is having to bend my neck to fit through the low roofline.
Hi Marek, I'm glad to see another video with the same quality as usual. If you don't make another video until Christmas, then happy holidays and a happy new year.
Thanks, and all the best to you too!
I'm taking a week off in early January, so if you need a break from your loved ones during Christmas, I'll be here with 2 more episodes this year :)
Superb review again Marek ! I love your German marchingboot bootclclick at minute 12.47 🤪With a stahlhelmet it would be complete haha. Forget about all the marketing blah blah this is nothing more than a smooth lined estate. As a enormous Citroën fan this was the best and entertaining review I have seen. Keep up the good work Marek ! Cheers, Robert
Those helmets don't sit well with Poles :)
Citroen got their mojo back.
Thanks for the review Marek. When you hear estate/coupe/SUV crossover sounds a little odd but this is a surprisingly practical car.
Seeing the physical HVAC controls and the proper sized cup holders make me wish that I had the same in my car. PSA/Stellantis have been giving us tiny cupholders for years but hopefully they've realised that overseas markets have different sized cups :D
Yes, they realised people outside of France will drink liquids on the go, not just smoke cigarettes :)
Usually I don't even notice the background music, here I couldn't ignore it and I liked that so much it will stay in my head for some time
Thanks Marek, I wish I could find the Citroen convincing (I own a Citroen and a VW). Anyway... YOU have talent to sell, mate... Well done, another interesting and entertaining review!
Good review. My new carreviewers have arrived!
A bit like a bigger Citroen BX from the 90s? Stick a decent fast diesel turbo in it - job done! Love your reviews Marek
MAREK you're on fine form again 😁 always make sure your leg is in the car fully before trying to close the door! Bloody hell you're gonna amputate your own leg if you're not careful. Love the seats & the suspension will make the car a pleasure to drive.my only issue is why is everything these days got to have some form of suv type style..?? Do you think one day a manufacturer might be bold enough to move Away from these type of vehicles as they really are lacking in a certain style..a nice estate car is far more attractive on the eye..but it is just a personal opinion 🤷 great review as always sir💯👌
Well, there's always the regular Passat estate :)
ruclips.net/video/GVUWhlBcCX8/видео.html
And Passat Alltrack
ruclips.net/video/_DiEDe2yIN0/видео.html
Not to mention Skoda, Audi, BMW, Mercedes....
Peugeot makes the 508 estate.
seen in person SUV is absolutely the last thing one would think about C5X... shooting break , estate or even a coupe springs to one's mind far before any SUV thoughts, because the car is long, wide and, with its 1.49 m of height, at least 10-15 cm lower than any SUV.... the only thing that vaguely remind of SUV is its 19 cm ground clearance and plastic wheel arch cladings... the damn thing looks surprisingly good in person (saw and drove in pearl white, hybrid 225, Shine+, with black roof) and drives comfortable as a dream....
Great honest review, instant sub. Mentioned many points that those big head "car reviewers" didn't. Would you choose this or a VW arteon? Might be an interesting comparison
Arteon's big selling point for me is AWD and more powerful engines. As well as a diesel option, which IMO is still the ultimate choice for long distance driving.
The C5 X has a lot going for it, but powertrain choice is a limiting factor.
Hidraulic shocks absorbers was launched first on C4 Cactus, then on C5 Aircross
Another great review @Marek!
I'm undecided between C5X and C5 Aircross. I have a 3y old and we need boot space.
Which one would be your recommendation between these two? Aesthetically, C5X is definitely nicer looking.
Thanks in advance for your help.
AFAIR C5 Aircross has three individually sliding seats. That's convenient for expanding the boot space, while the kid is little, and you need to carry more baby paraphernalia in the boot, and expanding legroom for adults.
05:58 speaking as a C5X owner myself, I can absolutely confirm this, because it happened to me as well 😆
You got me interested! The plug in should be tested also :)
It's the same plug-in, like I tested in the 308, DS4 or Astra:

Nothing to add here.
I like it but Marek, do you think i should get one or save up some more money and get a far more modern model like the CX or even a DS21?
If you have money for repairs or place and skill to repair it yourself, and a lot of spare time, why not?
Looks the part. When offered a HUD I thought it to be a gimmick, now I think it's the coolest safety feature. It would annoy too much if it didn't work efficiently.
Nice review as usual. Are all cars SUV-ish these days? We dont need to fix the roads with all cars SUV...
you have to shut the tailgate manually is better than having electric and thus additional electric problem
few things:
* why they do not offer that 1.6 I all markets :((
* If it will be cheaper for ~5k. I definitely would think about buying it.
Because there is a new C5=X available, a 1.6L 180HP PHEV.
Very good, indeed! My current c5 Tourer has 365k on the clock and I am considering this c5X phev as its replacement.
Hurry. This thing doesn't seem to be selling very well, so I think they'll be continuing it in the next generation. Shame, because it's a very good car.
@@MarekDrivesENG Yep, gotta sell some crpt to get this one in hybrid shine pack.
Likewise Peugeot looks a touch overpriced, but I am with you, it's something different and apparently sensible. I trust you liked the drive, and I seem it is a family car of the old days. Question: really you did not find the absorption a bit 'wallowy' ? Well done as usual and thanks.
Yes, it was a bit all over the place in some cases, but most of the time it was just comfortable.
hi i would like to ask what do you recommed for c5x , 1.2 130 hp or 1.6 180 hp? thanks!
I haven't driven it with 1.2. The smaller engine was OK in the Mokka, but I'd imagine it may be insufficient for this big a car.
I don't know if Marek makes it in such a way,but the colour tone is a little bit dark. When you show the interior, I barely see the details, and of course the dark interior made it hard to observe either.
Because late autumn, and the weather's crap. Artificial light is a bit tricky for me, because it leaves a lot of shadows. There's only so much I can do in the limited time I have.
Which cars, that are roughly in this class or cheaper, have better sound insulation?
It's going to depend on the options. Look for acoustic glass on the windshield and preferably also on front side windows. If available, it's usually a paid option.
Who is playing behind you? Nice track.
My editor used some stock track from Artlist.io
Not sure, what it is.
Wow! Why can’t we have nice things like this in the U.S.? 😩 (Agreed regarding underrated BMW 5GT!)
Underrated and very ugly :)
US car market is far superior than European one so don't complain :)
@@strezification How ?
@@strezification In terms of engine choices maybe, but put a bigger engine in this thing and I would much rather drive this than any Honda, Toyota, Hyundai or Subaru here in the US...
@@Oklm23 That's the thing, there are no bigger engines. All cars have 1.0, 1.2, 1.4, 1.6 lawnmowers engines. EU legislation is killing the car industry
Stellantis don't have any other engine than the 1.2 pure tech?
it is in OPEL (Corsa, and Astra), Peugeot (208,...), Citroen, Fiat, Lancia,...
Pretty much. One engine, so many applications. Money well spent :)
It's available now a 180HP hybrid version with better battery.
I think one thing missing from the C5X is AWD.
It would be a nice option to have.
Very sharp german pronunciation, schtonk!
Ay voz phatisink ;)
I am not so sure about this one...
Thank you anyway!
I can't figure this one out. It's cheap for a big, well equipped car. Why? Where's the catch? Is is made in China or something?
Engine lineup. Either you get a 3-cylinder 1.2 or a PHEV, and then it gets expensive. It needs a 2 litre diesel.
Now if this had been an estate it is a car I would have bought . After all Citroen was the maker of some epic estates !
it is an estate... I haven't yet seen 4.85 m long SUV that is only 1.49 m tall... when you see it in person it looks more like a 4 door shooting break but it doesn't hinder the luggage space as much as one would expect
Having driven Citroen diesels since the BX it seems like I will be driving another make of diesel now.
There's a market for this car but there's things it's lacking... No AWD or upgraded sound system. It's incredibly French.
why would you need AWD? ... it's neither an SUV nor off-roader... this is a bit differently shaped large family estate with higher ground clearence for easier entering and exiting
I am sure that an upgraded hi-fi is offered, and my Citroën dealer says that it is a Focal one.
@@dikordato maybe just not in the UK market...
@@mirkozlikovski9553 most raised up cars or SUVs are raised to give them more rough terrain capability. AWD arguably goes hand in hand with that. The French, who have the Alps and things, have always steered clear of AWD in most of cars for some reason. It's nice to have the option.
@@car_babble naaah.... not that I don't agree with the logic ...terrain vehicles are (amongst other things) raised to give them more rough terrain capabilities, but the vast majority of SUV's are just "terrain vehicle look-a-likes" that have little or no terrain capabilities even when they have AWD! in other words, they look like terrain vehicles because currently predominant fashion demand's it! similar like some 15+ years ago was MPV and everything had to be, or had to look like a "monovolumen".... and this one, seen live, doesn't even look SUV-ish, let alone being a SUV....
believe me, for the usage & purpous this car (and every other D segment family sedan/wagon) is intended, AWD means just "half of a tonne" of iron you have to drag around every day with you.... which is kind of a nonsense even if there is an occasion on every "odd" or "leap" year, when having it would actually come handy!
although, I agree with you about having the option... options are always nice things to have, regardless of their "actual sense or necessity", because consequently that's up to the customer to decide
This car is really funky. I've always had a soft spot for Citroen designs. Alas I'm so pragmatic I'd probably go buy an Audi Allroad.... I'm so boring....
You could buy three of these for a mid-spec A6 Allroad. One to drive, one in the garage, and one for spares, when the garage can't find the problem :)
@@MarekDrivesENG LOL. Sorry I was talking about the A4 Allroad. Is this that much bigger?
It's about the size of an A4. 2 A4s then. No car for spares then. Better find a good garage :)
You need some seriously strong cough medicine for that cough..
How inconvenient having to make sure your leg is in the car before closing the door.
fantastic car...but i miss clean modern diesel..
DS over half a century ago had adaptive front ligths, nowdays citroen has reflector led ones, not matrix but not even adaptive ones. So much of history of citroen, peugeot as well, they ruined them and made them mainstream. Last citroen that deserved to carry its badge was C6.
What a Load of negative thoughts. Citroën is absolute back on track with the new C4 and C5x. Quirky and polarizing designs and superb comfort. Pierre Leclercq and his designteam do a great job for the brand.
@@Muushondje Altought, they are interesting cars for the time we live in, they are nothing innovative, like the older Citroens used to be. They also don't have the beautiful hydropneumatic system, and just the car feels normal and boring to drive. Citroen is a car made for man. Because it has balls, or at least the real citroens do. The new Citroens today, I would call just Peugeouts. Nice and all, but nothing to make You smile or turn your head on the street, unlike the any old Citroen I see on the roads.
@valentine Xristov innovation is expensive, and can backfire. Citroen have a reputation, so why not make a car that just works for a change :)
@@MarekDrivesENG Because we already have 'working' cars 😁 If you blend in with the rest manufacturers, how are you going to stand out from them? I agree, the quirkiness and innovation are huge risk, especially in nowadays, but that's what makes cars interesting after all.
@@MarekDrivesENG Not every Citroën was that unreliable. The Xantia was tough as nails. And i think the PHC system is a firm innoviation.
36000 for a car that is not even electric… so who is this car for??? You are almost at the BMW 3 pricing, and that is a status symbol.
36k is a base 2 Series Active Tourer. 3 Series starts around 43k. Rep spec.
Because it for niche where people give light when change directions...
You spec a 3 series with memory seats like this has, add on a few little extras and you’re £45k upwards. Your pricing is way off
Dude, check prices before commenting. BMW 3 series is way more expensive. Also you will not get electric car this size for 36K
My kind of car.
I can’t imagine PSA still using this gimmicky camera stitching bs nowadays, especially in new cars of the same class and above
I suspect they're putting them only on top spec cars, because of the chip shortage. My Polish viewer is waiting for his Lexus NX for over a year now, and was recently told he won't be getting a 360 camera. Different company, but chip shortage is still a thing apparently.
Would not go near such an ugly and boring car. Good review though.
Boring car lol. It's class. You can keep your boring badly built VW.
Says person with ugly and boring nickname
