I like when my French cars are reviewed by our British friends because it always feels more honest in a way. I am more of a Peugeot fan, but this C5X is really making a good impression on me, and it's growing! Thanks for the excellent and unbiased review!
It's a beautiful car that ticks many desired boxes IMO. I saw one on the road only yesterday, and it really stood out from all the other cars around it. Stunning, eye catching, deserves to be a success.
When younger, you wish the exctitment of stiff cars being very sporty but comes a moment when you wish for the great ride where you do not feel the road and can be driving to the other end of Europe. I always was amazed how Citroen beat even the most expensive Bentleys or S Class. I will get my hand on one soon.
So what is it so "new" compared to estate saloon as a6 allroad? Nothing new. Just a sportier looks, but at the same time c5x is less practical. Price is the only point to be interested. We here in eastern europe buy a lot of second hand french cars only because they are 2times cheaper compared to the same production year german cars. I own a c4 grand picasso only because i cannot afford the same year galaxy or sharan.
I really do wish this gorgeous C5X is a winner here in the UK. Citroen have made some outstanding comfortable vehicles in their history and I want one, this seems to be the perfect choice for me as I’m coming to the end of my working life as a long distance lorry driver. I need a big nice comfortable vehicle that won’t break the bank.
Great to see you back on RUclips. Carbuyer is simply unwatchable to me since you left. I'm sure your channel will get the following it deserves. Unfortunately, it's likely to take time. If more people like me get to know about it, I'm sure it'll take off relatively quickly. Nonetheless, stick with it; don't give up. It will happen. Rest assured in how many channels now have hundreds of thousands of subscribers, but most started off very slowly indeed, before the momentum kicked in. Hopefully, you've got the name recognition for it to happen much more quickly. However, I didn't come across your channel because YT pushed it, but simply because I searched for a review of this particular car. Best of British to you!
Like the vid, it has a smooth vibe just like the Citroen. Subbed! 😊 Citroens have gotten so good the last years and soo comfy. Bought the Aircross and like it really much.
Like a person who is for instance very good at describing food in such a way it makes your mouth water, you make me very much want to drive this car. 👍
I bought a C5 Mk 1. I had it for 9years. I just wished I knew that they were going to stop making them for the UK market, I would have bought another one before they did stop. They were a brilliant car, plenty of room, so quiet and smooth and and comfortable drive. I turned to the Skoda Super, which is quite a comfortable car. I did say at the time that if Citroen did make another big car I would go for it. So, yes, I'm going to go for this car with out a doubt.
I got C5 X7 2011, was wondering how does it compare to Skoda Superb. Unfortunately I haven't got the chance to test the Superb. My priorities are: ride quality, silent cabin and comfortable seats. And so far the C5 had delivered very well.
I love this car and it reminds me of my old Citroën DS5, which was similar in that it didn't really fit any car type (a high riding big hatchback thing). Great review and looks like a worthy replacement when my DS 7 Crossback deal comes to an end. Great review 👍
As a former C6 owner - I love this car but I’ll reserve judgment on the ride quality until someone does a review on UK roads. This review takes place on some wonderfully smooth Spanish tarmac which makes me a little skeptical…
There's a version on sale in France named C5X Pallas. It's a premium version finished in black with tan ( tabac ) leather interior. There are certain elements finished in matt gold such as the side mirror casings and the cubby hole cover in the interior. Distinctive.
@@YulianV1990 Extremely pleased with it. Drives like a dream, beyond expectations. Very attractive to look at and high standard of finish. Pearl white with black roof, black interior, all extras except for roof bars and massage seat. Charges quicker than thought via dedicated domestic charging socket. Certainly pleased with my decision to buy one.
@@iansearle5349 Thank you Ian for your response. I did a test drive for 1 hour on the non hybrid version and I am very pleased and impressed with the car. I don't think I am going to buy the hybrid though, it's 10000 eur extra and there are no incentives to do so. I guess the fuel economy might be better, but the test car I did had average of 7/100 consumption for the past 3000 km of test drives. Hows yours doing? I appreciate you helping and answering :)
@@YulianV1990 Extremely pleased with the car, I purchased the Hybrid version because of the excellent incentives offered by the Spanish government. If they weren't available I would have bought the 4 cylinder petrol version without hesitation. Good luck!
I've always never considered a French car in the past. But I do like the current crop coming out. Such fantastic designs. This one is even comfortable, so even the missus may like the ride. But I'd struggle to sell her on the shape. Chalk and Cheese are our tastes there :).
Eighteen months ago, I bought the C4 for a number of reasons but principally the comfort and ride quality - at 76, it's all about comfort! In a couple of years, I shall be replacing it and because I don't want to go fully electric, to me the C4X Hybrid would be the natural choice but Citroen for some inextricable reason, known only to itself, decided that although we could have a significantly larger boot space - very welcome, we couldn't use it properly because they fitted it with a letterbox opening! Is this because they want us to spend more money on the C5X? If that's the case, then I'm going to have to think carefully about spending the extra money. Later this year, my wife and I are moving from North Surrey to Somerset and the extra length of the C5X concerns me a bit. I've had a drive in the C5X and totally agree with James' verdict about the comfort level so I'm torn as to whether it would be an appropriate car to take to the narrow Somerset lanes.
Like it. Especially like the priority on ride quality. Why manufacturers insist on Nurburgring times and handling is beyond me for day to day cars like 3 series/A4 etc that are driven nowhere near their capabilities. This looks great too. Good job Citroen. 👍🏻
Not really going back to what they know comfort-wise, as it's not hydropneumatic, such a shame, the new system my be comfortable, but has none of the other hydraulic advantages. Nice review, good luck with your channel. (A CX owner).
If I remember correctly both the Xantia and BX sold very well in the UK... Rare for Citroens. In Australia I have a 1990 2CV6 Charleston and 2018/19 C4 Cactus.. love them both. The C5X is tempting.. I would prefer a Hybrid where the electric motor drives the rear wheels and ICE engine the front wheel giving you all wheel drive. I will be more tempted by a 2 year old low mileage example
Running an 530d BMW actually i have baught this car. I want to ride smooth, efficient, with a lot off space and the latest helpers and software. And usally i will drive in electric mode for short daily distances. And it looks good.
Did not realise these are built in China . I will wait for a year then test drive one . By then first year depreciation will have bitten and it will be a decent buy . Good review . Thank you
You have to hand it to the French.Unlike the British, they supported their car industry through thick and thin and although they had some pretty bad times, their cars are now emerging with the respect they deserve.I like many French cars now and if these cars can't be bought new,i would think they will make a great 2 year old used buy.A very good review and a very good car,it seems.
The seating position unfortunately isn't optimal...an Audi A4 e.g. has much, really much more leg room for the driver / more range for adjusting the steering wheel... especially for long legged drivers. Given the rather long wheelbase...its almost a shame. Also it feels a bit claustrophobic, given its size.
