This is by far one of my favorite tutorials you have so many good tips you’re so calm and it is so easy to follow your instructions. I love all your tutorials. I’ve watched them all many times over and over. I am just now getting back into quilting because I have some free time. My mother-in-law was a wonderful quilter and taught me a lot, but I’ve learned more from you than I learned from her. I’m going to try to learn some techniques that I can pass on to my niece to carry on the family tradition of quilting. My husband passed away seven months ago and now I’m really getting back into all my crafting fun. Thank you so muchfor your wonderful tutorials and descriptions of fabrics and techniques. Happy quilting.
Donna, when my mom passed about 10 years ago I lost all urge to sew at all. Then I came across one of your videos about 4 months ago and you totally engaged me - you brought me right back to my love of fabrics. I have completed two quilt tops and am working on two more. Thank you for all of your wonderful videos - they really are wonderful and so worth all of the time and effort you all put into them. Also, thank you for reminding me how much I love quilting - it was a craft my mom and I shared 🧵
I’m so delighted to read this! I got my love of quilting from my maternal Grandma Knowles. Quilting has blessed my life so much, mostly because it is such an incredible way to let family and friends know I love them. Congratulations on having two tops done and I wholeheartedly agree with you. Donna and Jordan Fabrics are the ‘real deal’. I couldn’t possibly come up with enough adjectives to describe their awesomeness. But as a retired registered nurse who has worked in my profession for 53 years, I believe that this family promotes as much ‘healing’ as the health industry. I also include one other quilting company with this self stated honor. My belief is that they impact so many lives with healing, encouragement and love that they are actually healing practitioners. Again, I’m ‘tickled pink’ as my grandmother would have said to start my day with this wonderful story.
Quilt Gram I was touched by reading your message. I started quitting only a year ago, and have completed 4 quilts. I was inspired to start by watching Donna, and all the Jordan Fabric videos. My hope is to one day complete a “perfect “ quilt. After raising 5 children also working in health care. I was suffering from empty nest and found making quilts eased that horrible sadness. I find today it helps me escape the fear and anxiety as my son is a respiratory therapist working in COVID ICU, and my daughter is a doctor. If we can’t be together during this time making quilts for my children helps remind them after a long stressful day. Your Mom loves you and I’m so incredibly proud of you. Your words are so true quilts have love and healing powers. God Bless.
I loved your comment. Two years ago I made a quilt for my son’s death bed. It was all half square triangles arranged into stars. I have not been able to sew much since then. But watching these amazing videos encourages me also. My whole life is disorganized right now but I know I will sew again and I love this quilt! God bless. And I’m thanking Donna again for a wonderful video.
Donna, it's so refreshing to hear someone say they would rather enjoy the process than worry over the small imperfections. I am the same way. I will be trying this project, love it.
You are a great teacher! I am going to tell my youngest sister about you~~~she is a newbie! She cracks me up as she is actually going to quilt shops and buying fabrics!
I grew up with a family who appreciated the talent behind a quilt but never quilted. We always purchased them. I just completed my first ever quilt for my mother for mother's day (canadian) and had a long armed finish it for me. It's all because of your videos. Now I'm starting my sisters christmas present with fabrics I purchased today from your shop lol gunna try a log cabin and then km ironing on pictures of her animals and her wedding day. All because of your videos. Thank younfornjntroducjng me to this amazing world.
HI DONA, THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR VIDEO. I NEVER HAD ANY IDEA OF HOW TO SEW A QUILT. UNTIL I WATCHED YOU PROFFESSIOALLY DEMONSTRATING IT. .I LOVE IT. FROM SYDNEY AUSTRALIA . .😁😁😁😁😁😁😁 💥💥💥💥💥💥💥 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I love watching your video's. I haven't sewn in 40 years, I bought a new machine and started making masks for my family. I've started dabbling in quilting and made my daughter the 10 minute table runner and quilted it. She loved it. You are a real inspiration and a great teacher. I've learned so much which helps me bring I am an Assistant Superintendent in our Fairs Needlework Dept. I'm hoping one day to make a trip south to your store. Thank you so much for your video's.
Love your tutorials. This would be a great quilt for my little grandsons(I have a bunch) I can give them hugs and kisses every night, even when they are far away or get "to grown up" for them.😊 Thank you Donna and co.
Look how pretty your white & silver hair is!! I stopped fighting my natural hair color on my 50th birthday when I realized I had been covering up my white and silver hair for over half my life. Growing it out is hard, but each compliment fueled my decision for another month! I think it’s pretty cool that silver is in now. Most of my compliments come from young women, well, and older men.
The fabric you chose is just beautiful in this pattern and it's hard to believe this is just half square triangles. Your dress is also very pretty today. Thanks for sharing.
I like that you showed the imperfection. I've always seen your quilts as pretty perfect. It's nice to hear it's better to enjoy it than stress about perfection.
Yes, it is so refreshing! Made me laugh when she said, “Hope and sew.” In truth, the person who is getting the quilt will love ❤️ it no matter what! They will be touched just that you made it for them!
I started making this quilt a few days ago in reds, blacks and whites. I had never done HST before and now I have made a total of 256! Wow, I think I'm a pro at them by now. I've finished 3 whole blocks and messed up the direction on two, had to pick those and restitch them. I ended up completing one block and hanging it up on my wall as a reference. This pattern is fun and I am really enjoying myself with it.
I could watch your "You Tube" videos all day long. I also wish I had the work space you have! Every pattern you do is so orderly, I'm just amazed! Please continue doing them! And stay safe!
Hi Donna, I’ve been watching your channel for a while but as I don’t have access to a long arm I thought I could not make a quilt, until I saw your tutorial for hand tying so I plucked up the courage to give it a go.
I have to add that this was the first quilting video I'd ever watched. You astounded me with how easy you made it seem!! I started quilting in Mar last year making baby quilts for the Hope Pregnancy Center here. But this video made me feel like I could actually make a "real" quilt. It got me hooked on you! LOL I've been watching you ever since I love love love how you make each quilt seam "doable," and I appreciate you for that!
I am making my first quilt after watching about 100 videos. This one put me into action though. I bought my christmas fabric but I'm using some cheaper fabric to create a sample quilt first. the first 2 blocks took me 2 days! The 3rd took me 30 minutes. I am an expert seam ripper!! Thanks and I told the Quilt Factory to thank you too because I went ahead and purchased the pattern at full price to give them and you credit!
Wow! You are astounding! How you teach is astounding! How positive and encouraging you are is astounding! How much knowledge and experience you have is astounding! And how creative and skillful you are is astounding! Amazing! And I'm really enjoying learning, thank you so much and God bless!
Estoy viendo por primera vez sus videos .No entiendo su idioma ,pero aun asi solo viendo estoy aprendiendo.Muchas gracias es usted una muy buena maestra
A friend has just asked me today if I can help her turn a collection of hoodies (from all the musical theatre shows she's been in) into a quilt - which is a new crafting challenge for me. I've been researching all afternoon and this is by far and away the best, most exciting video I've seen. I cannot *wait* to get going with quilting now! Thank you!
Donna your videos are so educational.....thank you so much for explaining your reason for doing each step....I love , love the weight on the ruler, the older you get the less strength you have for holding the ruler this is such a good technique....thanks again...God Bless
Thank you so much for starting a series of these "beginner friendly" quilting videos. These last months I've been so busy with sewing masks to give away and through it all, your channel has given me so much inspiration to get busy quilting.
The first time I tried to make a quilt there was no internet and I didn't know anyone who quilted. I only saw quilts on tv and I thought they were beautiful. Now there are so many resources to learn like this wonderful channel. I wish I could go to your store, it's like fabric heaven!
Same with me. There was one quilting show on in the morning the lady's name was Alex. I would buy books at joanns which is the only fabric store we have. I too would love to go to their store but 2,500 miles is a bit far.
Donna, you are a wonderful teacher. 1. You are a consistent source I personally use when I am asked who to watch regarding quilt tutorials 2. step-by-step instructions 3. tips to follow. I am a rookie by your standards. I have completed over 55 quilts to date, including monsters 128x128. I currently am teaching 2 students. This: Like everything else, it seems that happens in my life: there must be a reason. I was asked to teach, and you are who I want to emulate. Your patience, don't sweat it,attitude, and calmness I use as the golden steps to teach. You are indeed kind, and I respect your experience on how to successfully be a teacher: a great teacher who is calm and isn't judging or being worse than the "quilt police." I jokingly said comments made won't reflect my grade at the end of our quilting sessions and as I as your teacher do make house calls. I got a wonderful grade from my students. I have said you are my personal guide as to how I can be a good teacher. I am grateful for your tutorials. I attribute this all to you. You are a joy to follow and make me a better quilter/teacher. Take a bow, Donna. Susan Bordun
not a beginner quilter here but just discovered your channel, and am loving every pattern you feature! and the fabrics! thanks so much for taking the time to clearly show what the crucial points are, and not to worry if things are 1,000% perfect....quilt on!
I'm watching from Colorado. I need to get done with the projects I'm doing right now, so that I can start making this quilt. Oh I can't wait! Love this tutorial. It's easy to follow. Thanks Donna for sharing your many wonderful tutorials!
Donna, I just have to say that I love your hair!! The colour is beautiful and really suits you. Thanks for your wonderful tutorials. You've been a real inspiration and are a wonderful teacher.
Donna. You look so beautiful, and your spirit comes right through the screen, as I watch you showing us your craft. Thank you for continuing to do your tutorials. Love this quilt. Congratulations to you, Matt, and the rest of the Jordan family for continuing your great business through all the challenges today. Beautiful videos, and awesome deals. As an older gal, I need to stick around home more, and it helps to have your videos. Thanks so much.
This is an excellent pattern for beginners and for those of us who need a project where there isn't too much thinking involved during this stressful time. Sometimes, I take a break from doing whatever and just watch one of your videos because you have such a calm and relaxing demeanor. I meant to say rewatch! You're like the Mary Poppins of quilting, mesmerizing us all with efficiency, kindness, and sensibility. I have made many of your patterns and they all come out great. I have also ordered your precut strips which are amazingly accurate, so a BIG shout out to Matt with his magic rotary cutter! Thanks!
I just ordered this pattern. Downloaded very quickly. I am saving Jen's video so that I can follow her directions as well as the pattern .Thank you, Jen.
My favorite thing in the world is Saturday morning coffee watching your videos. My first quilt was a log cabin done with two packages from you I bought at my first quilt show.
That is so pretty and as a newbie I really appreciate you teaching me how to make something so beautiful that looks so difficult look so easy to do. Donna just in case you do not hear it enough I want to say a HUGE thank you for all the joy and knowledge you share about quilting with us. You truly are an angel for sharing your talent with us.
I’ve been quilting for many years, but you have made me a better quilter. I have learned so much by watching your wonderful videos. Thank you so much, Donna. Hope I make it to Oregon someday and get to visit your beautiful shop. 😊
I tried all sorts of tricks to stop my long ruler swivelling, including sanding the back to make it non-slip. Now I have started using a weight and such a difference it has made. Thank you for this top tip!
I love watching your videos! I think you are the most professional and informative teacher that I have seen on any video! Always precise, yet very friendly and tell us everything we need to know about the patterns as well as tips and techniques that make quilting so much more accurate and fun! I’ve been quilting about 45 years and I learn something every time I watch one of your videos. I would do love to come to your shop. I’m in Alabama, so not sure if that will happen. Love your husband showing up too and helping all of us! Thank you both so very much! 🤗💐🥰 I also tell everyone else about your wonderful videos!
The minute I get an email that you have a new tutorial I stop everything and watch it. You are an inspiration and THANK YOU for sharing your knowledge and love of this craft with all of us! God bless!
Hi Donna like this quilt pattern I all ready have my squares sewed up from a previous project . Thanks for all your tutorials really appreciate them and your hair looks really great by the way happy quilting.
I love your tutorial. I lost my love for quilting because my mentor made me feel close was never good enough. Joy killer. I really think I will try this.
Wow Donna, another brilliant quilt with your wonderful enthusiasm and clear hints and instructions. Thanks you so much. I only started quilting this year, so I am so glad I found you and Matt, I am learning all the time.
Donna you have a gift for easy explanation. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Every quilt I have made has benefited from your tutorials. Thank you Christine from Australia x
Donna, I really really like your tutorial. I started learning quilting about a year ago after watching your tutorial. I have also bought pre cut fabrics from your shop several times. You teach clearly and easily understood, thank you Donna. warm greetings from Indonesia
I made this a few years ago using Christmas Fabric,it turned out nice, I gave it to a friend in a nursing home, I am thinking on making it with scrap fabric, going to give it a try, it is a easy pattern.
Donna I could use the same message for every show you do! Love your fabric choices, love your relaxed teaching. You make me feel like I could do anything! Love every quilt and every episode you do. Thank you so much. PS my birthday is coming up in two weeks I'd love to finally win one of your quilts. Hint hint. LoL. Hugs
Wow Donna, that looks beautiful, I look so forward to seeing your videos. You are a wonderful instructor, and you make things sound so easy, but most of all you have this way of encouraging everyone to try and quilt. Thank you so very much for your videos.
Beautiful choice of fabrics again, Donna! This is a lovely quilt, with simple construction; perfect for beginners and for those of us who like a little break from a complicated project. Thanks!
I couldn't resist. I just ordered this Hugs and Kisses pattern from Jordan Fabrics. I've never quilted before, but this video was so well made and encouraging, I think I'm going to give it a try. Thanks for such great instructions and all your hard work making these videos!
Donna, imust have a dozen unfinished projects, large and small ones. Right now, i dont want to work on any of them. Then this video miraculously appears on my phone. A gift from above. I'm ready to take on this project and i have the fabric in my stash to do it. It might end up as another unfinished project, but for today i am excited to work on it. Thank you.
Donna is one of the best quilt instructor around. Talks very slow and shows us all the details. Thank you.

I loved how you talked about having fun making the quilt and not obsessing over small imperfections!!
That’s my motto as a new sewer; “Hope and sew”, sew and hope it turns out-and if not, oh well. Looks good to me!
I can't believe this gorgeous quilt was just made with half square triangles. Talk about easy mindless sewing. I love it❗
Yep, I bought the pattern.

Such a sweet comment - I completely agree!
Look how pretty your white & silver hair is!! I stopped fighting my natural hair color on my 50th birthday when I realized I had been covering up my white and silver hair for over half my life. tishfish01 I love the saying “Done is better than perfect “......makes me enjoy the process more and not stress for perfection
Yes, it is so refreshing! Made me laugh when she said, “Hope and sew.” In truth, the person who is getting the quilt will love ❤️ it no matter what! They will be touched just that you made it for them!
You are amazing Donna Jordan. Thank you for all your tutorials.
Hi Donna! Great tutorial! Thanks for always taking into consideration that many of us are still beginner quilters.
I could watch your "You Tube" videos all day long. I also wish I had the work space you have! Every pattern you do is so orderly, I'm just amazed!

Thanks for another great quilt. Beautiful! Have to tell you though-really like your dress!
I tried all sorts of tricks to stop my long ruler swivelling, including sanding the back to make it non-slip. Now I have started using a weight and such a difference it has made. Thank you for this top tip!
Just put a bit of clear medical tape on the underside...this will keep it from slipping off your mark and does not hinder what you are seeing.
I love your videos. The main thing I’ve learned from you, is to enjoy an not over think.
I love watching your videos. You are the best instructor of all that I have viewed.
I just received your shipment of fabric for this one so cannot wait to get busy on it.
I love your tutorial. I lost my love for quilting because my mentor made me feel close was never good enough. Joy killer. I really think I will try this.
Quilting is awesome because we get to stitch to our own standards! We can be as picky or as easy-going about matching as we like!
Hi Donna, I’ve been watching your RUclips videos and I love your work. I try to follow your ideas and the love for quilting that you teach. Thank you
Wow Donna, another brilliant quilt with your wonderful enthusiasm and clear hints and instructions. Thanks you so much. I only started quilting this year, so I am so glad I found you and Matt, I am learning all the time.

Donna I'm not sewing yet, but I watch you a lot and this is one of my favorites.
Wow, it's very deceiving - a simple block with a stunning, intricate looking result. Thank you.
This is such a pretty quilt! I like that is one block over and over. Would definitely look like it was super complicated but totally not.
Hope and sew! I love it!! It's lovely to not sweat the small stuff :)
Donna I could use the same message for every show you do! Love your fabric choices, love your relaxed teaching. You make me feel like I could do anything! Love every quilt and every episode you do. Thank you so much. PS my birthday is coming up in two weeks I'd love to finally win one of your quilts. Hint hint. LoL. Hugs

Am going to have a go at making this in lilac and purple tonings
Wow Donna, that looks beautiful, I look so forward to seeing your videos. You are a wonderful instructor, and you make things sound so easy, but most of all you have this way of encouraging everyone to try and quilt. Thank you so very much for your videos.
