Every painter I've ever met or seen on video has different techniques and tips for painting. The best thing to do is to pay attention to all information. And test your own different ways to paint. It might take awhile but eventually you'll find the way that works best for you and your situation. Buy some cheap leftover paint and test it on a junk fender or something. Just make sure that you prep the test panel as if it was a show car you're painting. Because prep is 90% of the paint job
super video. as for the gun, picked one up on amazon prime days (oct 10 and 11). had a few amazon bucks on my amazon credit card, and got the complete package for $46 shipped. as they say, it's all in the timing - 😄😄😄
Great video …. Have heard. Or used this spray gun .. NASEDAL LVLP R500.? I think it would be the same right and that all R500 needle a caps should work ..?..
I will be painting my 1970 Mach 1 as a daily driver restoration. I am getting too old to take on a full show car in my garage as a project and swore never to do that again .I just want to do a really nice job paint job that I can be proud of to tell people I did it at home . I think I will try that combination of brands. I would love not to have to wet sand and buff. Is that a real possibility or am I just dreaming and better be ready. Thanks for all your advice.
Great informative video. Thanks 😊. Question- at 5:30 you mentioned how to adjust the spray pattern to hit the tight spots. I just didn't understand what way to move with fluid and pressure when we narrowing pattern down. We have to decrease then pressure (to 10-12) and reduce the fluid by one turn down also keep gun little further away. Did i get that right????? Thank you 😊
Hi Chris, thanks for all the great information. I do have a question. I have an A610 gun and plan on shooting a metallic, for these LVLP gun, is there a nozzle size you would recommend for metallic paints?
I use 1.3 and have no problem with oem metallics. If your use a custom paint with larger flake you might need a 1.4 or larger. Appreciate your comment and support!
I just bought a R500 gun at your recommendation. I was wondering if you could make a video on your air compressor setup for garage painting. Looking for tips to build mine correctly
How is the first stage of trigger? I had the aeropro black and red but returned it because the airhorn wasn't machined right, trigger was gritty due to bushing not oring like the old r500, and the first stage of trigger was very short. I love the new design and it uses the same needle sets, but the older version is better in my opinion.
Personal I haven't had a problem with any of my triggers. Some viewers have had some issues with some bad machining in the air cap , I guess it's to be expected from a inexpensive Chinese product. I haven't noticed any difference in the way they spray. I have the easwood version and the the R500 and now 2 versions of the new R500. Appreciate your comment and support!
Only if it's got imperfections that you want to clean up like dust or peel. I guess it depends on how you want it to look. Ideally if you can put down a nice clean finish you don't need to cut and polish.
@@GarageNoise thank you very much.. that helps a lot. i really wanted to ask because your clear coat was perfect, keep up the good work. you help a lot of us with these videos. thanks again and have a great day!!
Great videos. I may not have found my answers yet as I am still reveiwing them. What is the smallest compressor that you suggest for LVLP painting, as budge is an issue? I will not be doing whole car sprays, but will be doing bumper covers and smaller accessory body parts...maybe a hood and trunk lid. Also, what is the disposable cup system you are using that use the special fitting to the gun? Almost all videos I have watched refer to this, but I am unable to understand the name of the system and have not yet found it in any notes attached to the vids. Thanks much, you are doing a great job in these, giving me the confidence to give this a try!
No, they're the same gun with different sellers. One seller might be better than another but the guns are the same. Rong peng is the manufacturer of all these guns I'm 99% sure. What I think is, they offer different color schemes and branding for sellers. Rong peng released and updated appearance of the R500 recently and that's the aeropro a610 and now the yt160 . If you looking for the best seller it may be the Eastwood company they're R500 is marketed as the lt100 . It's also double the price for the same gun. Anyway I hope this helps.
Hello! Thanks! For a very good Video. I have repainted my Bumper, from my Volvo. But when I had applied the first layer of clear coat, my compressor broke. It has been several days now. So the layer of Clear coat that I put on has hardened well now. But there were a few drops in a couple of places. And there was orange peel all over Bumper. Is it possible to sand off the orange peel on the Bumper even if there is only one layer of clear coat? Thanks! From Tommy
Thank you for the review and demonstration. I have confusion between 1k clear and 2k clear 1k clear is clear + reducer and 2k is clear + reducer +hardener If I buy and use the 1k clear product, one day if I want to use 2k clear. Is it just add hardener to be 2k clear? Any difference if I buy 2k clear set from retailer? Thanks in advance
You never do that all at once. You put on two coats. Let that dry completely (2 to 3 days of sitting in the sun normally works) sand it down with P1200 and then flow coat it with two more coats of clear.

I am learning so much from your channel! Can you link or provide the regulator you use on your paint gun? Maybe a video on regulators? Also I would be interested in learning about different paint and the paint gun and tips you recommend for application. I restore tractors, Commercial mowers, Implements etc. Can I squirt these with base and clear? Is it more durable than enamel? Or just stay with enamel? I know base and clear cost more but getting colors matched is easier with Base and clear as no one really has scan tools for enamel near me. Thanks in advance!
Chris @garagenoise, what is the adapter for this gun and the A610? I want to use these types of cups. The PPS 2.0 is awesome but way more expensive for the same thing
I ordered the A610 after watching your videos. Nice that these guns are inexpensive. I looking at buying a second. Would you go with the original R500 or buy another A610?
R802 is a great gun. It sprays well and produces a great finish. It does use more air than the R500 so not great for small compressors but if your not concerned with air consumption it's just as good as the R500
Yes it does, I really think they have no clue what it actually is. I don't either for sure some sellers say less and some say more my guess is it's between 5-7 cfm but I can tell you this consumes less cfm the any gun I've used by comparison. With one exception, the orig R500 I believe uses a bit less air.
@@GarageNoise thank you I ordered it and it should be here today we will see if I can figure it out I have see a bunch of your videos and think I can do this a am going to try and paint a golf cart thank you for all of the grate information
I bought the A610 and I already had a R500. I did a sprayout test from 6 inches away both 1.3 mm tip. For some reason the air cap on the A610 is more ovaled and only makes about a 9 inch pattern while the R500 cap makes an 11 inch pattern. I swapped the cap from the R500 onto the A610 and it fixed the pattern problem with the A610. Have you noticed anything like that with these air caps? Aeropro sent me a new cap and needle set and the same thing happened. I can only get an 11 inch pattern at 40 psi with the A610 cap.
Really I haven't noticed anything like that but it wouldn't surprise me being it's a inexpensive gun. The company may work with you. Sound to me like the air holes in the cap may have been machined poorly.
Aero pro customer service is great. They are working with me and sending me a new gun. I was just curious if anybody else noticed this problem. It has nothing to do with the needle set. It is just the air cap. The air cap itself is not the same part at all. The difference in spray pattern is not highly noticeable and it still sprays nice. It just sprays as if the fan pattern is turned in a little.
I’ve never painted before but I’m trying and my base coat is spraying like colored water very thin and transparent,I tried the put a heavier coat and it just ran, I’ve sanded it all off 2 times just can’t get it right, what am I doing wrong, my gun is all wide open and air pressure is around 20 psi now I’ve tried changing the settings and nothing same thing happens, base coat is mixed 1:1, should I go 2:1 ?
20 is ok maybe a little low try 24 psi and 2 turns out on the fluid volume. I suspect you paints not being atomized enough. Put the fist coat on light let it flash for 10 minutes and add another coat. If you not getting enough paint out of the gun gradually bump up the fluid volume. Let me know the results
It's not tricky, the main difference is single stage. Single stage you want to spray like clear coat. The #1 tip I can give you is to put a light to medium coat on first this introduces the paint to the surface and gives you a good sticky base to apply a wet second coat. If you try to put the first coat on wet it can run easily. Hope this helps!
There's a big jump from a compressor that runs off 120v to one that uses 240v So, somwhere around 30 gallon I consider undersized for painting that doesn't mean they won't get some jobs done tho.
