- In today’s video I do a complete paint job using the SprayIT R500 low volume low pressure gravity feed spray gun and a small 21 gallon compressor on a 3rd Generation Chevy Camaro and show you that it is possible to paint your vehicle using a LVLP spray gun and a small compressor at home in your garage.

@@allenlackey116 I appreciate that Allen and I know your project is going to turn out great!
I just sprayed my first panel with this gun, and it is amazing!! It lays down so smooth!! You have to keep it moving so you dont run it. Im used to slower passes to get my shine with my HBLP guns. With this gun, you can make fast passes and still get a great shine with no dry spots. It uses way less paint than my Devilbis GTI, and almost no orange peel. LOVE THIS GUN!!!
Awesome to hear your experience with the spray gun 💪🏾💯
That's good to know. I'm used to using Iwata and Devilbis. I just bought the A610 spray gun on Amazon. I'll make sure I keep this in mind.
I started back in the 70s with a Craftsman 30 gallon compressor and working outside paint and bodywork.
You don't need all the high dollar stuff to get it done just gotta be resourceful .
Nice job...
Thanks Larry I appreciate that and appreciate you checking out the video and you’re absolutely right and I do my best to show people that want to do this kind of work that they can do it and they don’t have to break the bank doing it!
I sincerely appreciate this video and comments from you both, I'm a regular guy in the garage, I would suspect it would make perfect scene to use a very large compressor if I was working in a production shop, but at home probably not.
P..S your shop is perfect size, very cool.
You are a great teacher. The hum of the compressor the sway of the spray almost hypnotized but then real action began with the Grant 7 . I’ll practice being able to spray the clear like you but we all know you are the King no one else can move the way you do! Shake , rattle and roll. Sometimes laughing is therapeutic! Thanks my friend

Hey, just got my Spray-it delivered this week and used it today to paint and clear some plastic pieces. Not much of a test for the gun, but seems to work well. Used just my 20 gallon compressor. Probably going to use it for base mostly. No high solids clears. I seen that video🙄. I sprayed some Speedokote medium solids clear. Also bought the Harbor Freight Spectrum pps refill kit as I already had cups and all that. Works just as well as the other Chinese pps cups I have purchased off Amazon and Ebay. It's what I'm used to. I'm 10 minutes from a HF so i'm just going to pick them up instead of ordering like I have been. Can always find something else I think I need while i'm there....

King, you are the boss! Very nice technique, like a robot!. You make it look easy, but we all know it's kinda tough to get it slick.
That clear seems thick?💪💪
Thanks Stanley I appreciate you and you’re right this clear is thick, one coat of clear is equivalent to 2 coats of clear and definitely gives great UV protection 💯
I was about to try and spray bomb my 2000 Honda Accord sedan because I have a small air compressor but I think I'm going to checkout your channel to find out what gun, material, etc you use. I'm doing some airbrush work too (trying to promote my skills). I'm almost 50 and it's now or never. I'm tired of trying to be perfect; I'm just gonna go for it!
Go for it!!!…I know you have the skills to knock it out the park 💯
Nice Job, Question for your great knowledge, do I need to use a sealer when spaying a urethane base coat? As a DIY person I have always shot single stage Acrylic Enamel then do a cut and buff. Just bought the Spectrum HTE and going to switch it up to a 2 stage on this Flip I'm working on. Again awesome job, keep up the great work and look forward to seeing more.
Thanks William I appreciate you checking out the video…I recommend spraying a sealer but it’s not always necessary to spray sealer so it really depends on the condition of the vehicle that you’re spraying
I don't know about the paints you used, but I was watching the performance of the LVLP gun and it-si-bit-si compressor. It may just be your style, but it looked like you were overlapping the passes with base about 75% and with the clear more like 85%. I always use an old siphon gun and my overlap is only 25 to 50%.
Yes I tend to spray 75% overlap on base and clear but I probably should be 50% on my base and 75% on my clear
UPK I am going to try lowering my pressure down to 30psi when spraying Grant 7 I am still struggling with it has great shine just getting solvent pop on flat panels think I am laying it on way to heavy Thanks for content
You may need to give a longer flash time instead of lower the pressure but try both and see if you get better results

Thanks John I appreciate that!
Never painted before, but from the video it looks like you mix up one batch of clear and do the entire car. How much of a car can you do with a single batch of clear and how much clear do you need in total, a gallon?
It really depends on the clear you’re using and the mix ratio also what you’re doing when you’re painting the car as far as if you’re doing the inside and outside of the car, so a gallon is where you want to start but you may need more
So watching you spray the trunk with the Oh My Clear … looks like you double the pass or complete over lap ?
Awesome watching your clips !
I do a 75% overlap when spraying clear, I’m glad the videos help!
What size cup did you use for the whole car? 22oz or 28oz? Thanks! Outstanding information. Keep it coming, you’re giving people confidence to go out and try it.
I believe the cups are 22oz…I appreciate you checking out the video Scott!
The camera looks real good
Thanks Larry I appreciate you checking it out!
Beautiful work! All done with a Sprayit. Wow! What size air compressor would you recommend as you inspired me to paint my car with the Sprayit?
I think 21-30 gallon compressors are good for the SprayIT Huey, appreciate you checking out the video!
I love my Sprayit lvlps and it's probably because they are near exact clones of the awesome Iwata Bellaria. The body looks slightly different but the important parts are basically identical. I've been testing my Sprayits for years, and they just keep passing with flying colors. For the price of the Iwata I could have one for primer, one for adhesion promoter, one for sealer, one for solid colors, one for metallics, one for clear, and one to polish up and hang on the wall. And still have enough to take the wife out to Red Lobster...
😂 I agree with everything in your comment Kenlycan, I’ve been waiting for my SprayIT to fail me but it hasn’t!

Thanks Matthew I appreciate that and I don’t have any problems when doing two tone paint jobs and as far as single stage I would let the paint dry a lot longer if not completely before doing my second color just to make sure I have no issues
I'm in Australia and about to paint a project car I've been watching your vids and learnt a heap from you thanks. I had a lot of trouble trying to buy the sprayit gun they seem to be sold out everywhere I think I found the same gun under a different name r500 from China does that sound right? Thanks again.
I’m glad the channel has been helpful Chris and I hope it continues to help and yes that is the correct spray gun the R500 which you can get from china and at a good price from what I have been told!
Brilliant once again Paint king, thank you!! Just curious, how much blank paint did you end up needing for the car? I have a simlar sized job and not sure how much to buy.
Thanks C A I appreciate you and I used a gallon of sprayable material, so the base I use mix ratio is 1:1 so that’s half a gallon of the base and half a gallon of the reducer
Very well done. What brand and how much paint did you used? Thank you
I used shopline on this project which is a ppg product and it was about a gallon of sprayable material

Looks like it... I had to keep pausing the video to look at still shots, lol, but that looks good... that's the shine I want on my truck, like it's coated with a layer of glass...
@@Road_Rash that was no cut or buff also
Even better! But I bet if you did cut & buff it, it would look like a black mirror... pretty damn close now... a slick black paint job will never go out of style, no matter what trends come & go, but they are a bit over done these days, especially when it comes to motorcycles, I'd love to see it in a nice custom metallic, or pearl, with some graphics of some kind...turn that joker into a sure 'nuf panty dropper! You worked your compressor to death on the black Camaro. But great job.
Question: do you find the R500 gun is a difficult gun to use because it is an LvLP? User of the gun is to go slower. And would you paint a urethra paint over a 1 k primer from a spray can? Thank you for video
Thanks Robert I appreciate you and I don’t think it’s difficult to spray with because of it being lvlp also I have painted urethane over a 1k spray can
Spray it seems to do a better job than Campbell hausfeild what you think

Nice work! What pressure are you running out of the tip?
Thanks I appreciate you…I don’t remember what pressure I sprayed at when I did this vehicle but I put it in the video for the base and the clear
Single stage with this gun.. what would you run pressure at??
It really depends on the material you’re spraying to determine what pressure to run and I would do test panels before spraying your actual project to have everything dialed in like you want. Here is a video I did on a single stage paint job using this spray gun
