It's Ohio, no reason to go there.
A similar scenario happened to me in 2007 in Maricopa county AZ. I was a government contractor newly assigned to Luke AFB from out of state. I had only been in town 3 days, and was exploring Phoenix, when I was pulled over for having an out of state license plate on my vehicle. I told the officer the situation and his reply was that since I was new in town and my prints weren’t in the maricopa county system, I would be booked and released to get my prints on file despite having broken NO laws, having no criminal convictions and being well within the 30 days to attain new IDs and plates. The deputy informed me that he was acting under orders from the county sheriff ( Joe Aprio) to stop, search, book, and ticket all persons they pulled over that didn’t have an AZ license plate. After being booked, and printed I was informed that I would be held for 36 hours to ensure that I didn’t have warrants out of state while they searched for me in the NCIC database. After finally being released a day an a half later I was shackled and loaded into a van at 2am and was released with several others in the worst part of town imaginable in the middle of the night. After finally returning to base and telling my superiors what happened, and that I would be pursuing a lawsuit against the sheriffs department, I was told to stay on base and that in a week or so, I would be transferred to Kirkland AFB in NM, Due to the fact that Luke AFB Didnt want bad blood with the county sheriffs department. I absolutely refuse to believe that the citizens of Maricopa county were ignorant of the Sheriffs policy and because they allowed and sanctioned the behavior of this Sheriff by keeping him in office 20+ years.. I swore never, ever, to go back to the state of AZ. Those people are f**king crazy.
William Brinkley damn that’s messed up.
@@WilliamBrinkley45 wow totally illegal. Did you ever file a 1983 lawsuit? I wonder if full time RVers ever run into these issues. I know Arizona is popular with snowbirds who want to escape the weather, people send months in the desert in Quartzite.
Phoenix seems like a cool city to check out too, but stuff like that is horrible. I know I heard places like Arizona and Idaho like to profile people based on license plates due to hoping to find drugs and especially race in AZ. There's someone who goes by the bread trucker who converted a old bread truck into a RV and registered it as such as Florida. He has some pull over videos. Not a regular RV but one of the officers was trying to say he was driving a commercial vehicle since converted to a RV, and not a normal looking RV you'd buy at a dealership that thousands of retired people drive around, and depending on your state of license nothing special is required to drive a 26,000 pound RV because they are exempt even if they meet the commercial weights.

IM CALLING THE POLICE
Just discovered your channel and have been binge watching these videos. Thanks so much for making these videos available. So well said 10:25 "America is in desperate need of professional, objective and educated arbiters of peace who do not police with a chip on their shoulder or a false sense of entitlement"
They're not police, they're SS soldiers of the American Gestapo
This is so good.
Thank you sir.
When the officer said "I didn't stop you" he should have gotten back on the bike and kept riding.
Exactly. This video would have been 5 seconds long. Officer said "I didn't stop you" then MOVE ALONG. People just like to make something out of nothing.
By that same sentiment, the officer should have told him to was a misunderstanding and either told him he was free to leave or leave himself.
Not a good idea. Turning your back on a coward is never a good idea.
@@bryanwoods3373 The officer had no obligation to do that. The second the officer said he didn't stop him and there was no crime the biker should have ridden away. Know your rights. Don't be a sheep.
@@helenholt1161 I'm not talking about what the officer is obligated to do; I am talking about what he SHOULD have done. A reasonable officer would have recognized the confusions/issue and de-escalated the situation instead of doubling down on their authority. I've had an officer recognize his error in judgement, though he didn't apologize. He moved on, made sure there wasn't anything else he could get me on and told me I was free to go. A major part of this channel's videos is discussing how the police messed up and should have handled the situation.
"i'm going to write you a ticket", next statement "I never said you broke the law" then why was he going to write the ticket? What an ignaramous.
“I’m going to write you a ticket.”
Next statement: “excuse sir, why are we both standing here?”

@@SpeccyMan i meant ignamorous, as in no love.
So it’s safe to say this veteran cop has been on the force for years without knowing the laws of the state.
I had a cop do this to me once. I was taking the bus back from my brothers house in Stanton California. I got off the first bus and was waiting for my second bus. A cop suddenly comes up to me and tells me he wants to search me because "I've never seen you in this neighborhood before." Which I thought was stupid. But I was young and way too nice. So I explain to him that I am never in this neighborhood, except when I am at this bus stop waiting for my bus. He searches me and finds candy wrappers in my pockets and my keys and wallet. Then my bus comes and he won't let me get on it until he is finished. I remember feeling embarrassed because the bus driver and all the riders that are familiar to me around that time were looking at me like I was a criminal. Finally a few minutes later he leaves and states, "Well now I know when I see you that you are just a candy lover." Even back then when I was much nicer than I am now, it made me angry. Whatever he was really doing I will never know.

Let me put my two cents in. I'm from Europe, Germany, watched many of the videos on your channel and I got quite well educated on the legal aspects.
I have never been stopped by police asking for my ID walking on the street in Germany, and only 2-3 times in the last 30 years while driving. I never ever in my life saw a police officer even draw his weapon on anybody.
The way I see it, it is quite easy to innocently and unintentionally get into a situation in the USA to be held at gunpoint by a trigger-happy mentally unstable cop. and then I'd definitely put aside what I've learned here about the law and my rights and even lick the asphalt to save my life. Am I wrong or if not what's wrong with you guys across the ocean?
“Freedom”
I think a huge difference between Western European countries and the US, is the comparatively unlimited power police officers in the US are afforded. I'm Dutch, and the only time police would be allowed to handcuff me is when they transport me to the police station because I'm being arrested on suspicion of a crime, or if I've been convicted, and in both cases only to prevent me from running while I'm being transported. Even then, in many cases they will not be used if you cooperate. The notion that police could handcuff me "for their safety" while they investigate me during a traffic stop is completely ludicrous to me. I think part of the reason is that in the US it's reasonable to suspect that any person you stop may be armed with a deadly weapon, whereas in Europe this is extremely unlikely for everyday police interactions.
Another aspect is the legal system. The US constitution is _incredibly_ vague, and instead relies on courts interpreting what protections certain ammendments do or do not afford. European laws, on the other hand, tend to explicitly make clear their intent. This means that it's much clearer up front whether you're breaking the law, giving less of a mentality of "just get arrested and then fight it in court".
Furthermore, most Western European police officers receive a much, _much_ larger amount of training in both the law and how to interact with people. I would be perfectly happy in most situations to answer any questions a police officer might have, because I can reasonably expect to just have a polite conversation with no further consequences. If I could be arrested basically at the whim of the officer I'm talking to, I might think twice about answering any questions whatsoever, which seems to be the way to go in the US in many situations.
Finally, I think it's important to be aware of the purpose of this channel. Some people in the US call themselves "constitutional auditors". They may go around filming themselves doing things they know are constitutionally protected, and then record what happens. For instance, they may intentionally curse at police officers (because that's allowed), and then see what their reaction is. Or they might film the operations of an oil company from a public location, and sometimes the cops get called in. When the cops then start asking questions (as they should), these people usually decline to answer any of them (which is their right). This channel then reviews the legality of these interactions. So you inherently get a much larger proportion of interactions where the people seem very argumentative and uncooperative from a European perspective. I don't think it would be correct to extrapolate this to thinking that all, or even most, interactions with the US police are like this.
I've lived all over the USA for 39 years. I've had a 50/50 split between what is seen here and what you would expect from decent law enforcement. I've been falsely accused and arrested without proof of a crime, I've been treated like a guilty person for just trying to keep my rights, I've had my car torn apart at a traffic stop because I kept my windows up and the cops had their dog "hit" on drugs. (I had none, and don't do drugs). The worst part is that my mother was a police officer and after five years couldn't take the corruption and sexual harassment she tried to fight against.
If I knew anything about the law and was randomly held at gunpoint by a controlling, psychotic police officer, I would absolutely forget it all and do as I was told. Once all is said & done, I'd take it to the courts once I've escaped the situation with my life. These cops are so scary. One bad cop on a bad day could murder you in the blink of an eye & most likely get away with it.
A lot more than half of the 30 year olds here also share the same experience i’m 21 and have only had to show my Id to a cop twice when pulled over and that’s it and pretty much everyone I know would give a similar story. While the chances of having run ins with the cops or criminal acts is generally higher than Germany it really depends on where in the country your at. We’re also like 4 times the land size and population and only like 2 other democratic countries are bigger so yeah your gonna see a lot more instances of policing in general here and therefore a lot more instances of bad policing.
The cop looked so happy to give him a ticket

More specifically what fake officer Clarke means is that if you're from out of town we get to pull our local yocal hiway robbery on you!
0:45 - Cop: "You're not breaking the law. You're not being stopped."
Legally, that means I am free to end this interaction and walk away without repercussions. Goodbye!
The camera man was trying to make a point but you are right he could have just left. In fact I'd actually turn it on the officer to protect me as I'm riding my bike. I'd say, "sir since you are here do you mind watching me ride my bike down the street to make sure nobody tries to rob me?" and watch how fast he leaves.
Yeah but watch that interaction carefully though....the cop said that and then the moment the guy tried to leave he said he couldn't because he has to give him his ID. When he refused he said he was going to write him a TICKET! So basically the cop was lying, he had no intention of letting him leave without identifying himself. The only reason I believe the cop dropped it was because the guy gave his name......which is a big mistake in my opinion. It makes that cop think he can shake anyone down until they give in.
Exactly. He should have said “See ya,” and pedaled off.
No, you ask "an I free to leave?" Otherwise you can escalate the situation. Don't give anyone any excuses.

To even have to ask a government official “Am I free ( to leave)? “is an insult to the dignity and liberty of every taxpaying citizen.
Thanks for vocalizing it in such a manner. This is exactly why the whole "If you're innocent you have nothing to hide" argument is so wrong. Exercising our rights is necessary to maintain a healthy relationship between all citizens, l.e.o.s included.
You're absolutely RIGHT. In other words, we must first ASK PERMISSION so that we might go about our business. The state has reserved for itself the right to claim authority over my life. @@2pikbone so?
@@s9292 we have apartment buildings with more than 700 people where I live.
... many cops do not live in the same times that they Patrol.
There's so many problems with this.
"I'm writing you a ticket"
*literal seconds later*
"Did I say you broke the law?"
It's unfortunate people have to engage with police in this way, but it's the correct way to approach it. I have been friends with many cops over the years, but encounters with cops I don't know are often sketchy.
@Toby Henderson Historically, there have been very few negative outcomes from behaving like this.
I would be packin my shit as fast as I could to get the fuck out of town before sundown.
Friends with blue Isis domestic terrorist murderers 🤮🤮🤮 there’s no such thing!
@@bobnewsdog This will not end well for the officer. I can't imagine ANY reason why this officer would interact with someone riding a bicycle in this manner.
9:19 so much pedalling lol
"I'm not peddling a bike!" "I KNOW, I AM." That officer is way too out of touch to be doing his job, i'm sorry; time to retire.
peddling means selling.

One could make the same argument for Mr. Biden lol. Eyoooo
@@AltoStratusX1 yes. This officer needs Jill to feed him.
@@AltoStratusX1 good point, how much older is Biden than whomever ran against him?
As a younger man I was stopped for a traffic violation. I had picked up a friend's little brother who was walking in the rain. I had just passed the Hardee's restaurant when I spotted him walking . He was carrying a moose cup with him and I assumed he was coming from Hardee's . I did not know that was not the case. The officer who pulled me over less than a half a block down the road knew or suspected my passenger was drinking under age. I was ticketed for illegal transportation of alcohol and contributing to the delinquency of a minor and was arrested. When thee officer found out I had a good card he told me he would make sure that it was revoked. He put in his report to the state I was a drug pushing time doing people hurting felon . I had no idea he had done this until many (12 or 13 yrs) later when I was pulled over for not using a signal when I did and was forced to allow my vehicle and person to be searched. I was left standing on the road in freezing weather in a t shirt because he would not allow me to put my coat which he had already searched by turning it inside out back on. It wasn't until another officer arrived did I find out that when thee officer ran my plates it came back with the fictional information. It took a lot of time to get those lies removed from my record. But it explains why I lost my security guard job only a week after picking my friends brother up and why it was so hard for me to find work.
Friend of mine got pulled over at a 'magic checkpoint' no cause to stop, and cops demanded the names of her passengers, she didn't give their names. She kept asking the cop why they were stopped and why her passengers were being harassed.
Her brother is a cop in a different division, but we have one national police force using the same computer system, so he was able to see what they wrote. He got it corrected cos it implied she had done something suspicious, when in fact the cops were just dicking around.
Daaaayum. These older videos have great dictation and some solid editorializing which I very much appreciate.
"Did I say you broke the law?" Yeah, when you said you were going to write me a ticket
It’s like he watched First Blood and rooted for the Sheriff.
"When a police officer asks you a question..."
Too bad there is not like a part of the U.S. Constitution that allows you to not answer questions......
"I've never seen you here before."
Well, that's not my problem, is it? My favorite response to that is "Well I've seen you." They don't know what to say to that one.
He did give his name though,....when he didn't have to.
And the cop should be charged for making threats under the color of law. "I'll write you a ticket" was only said after the guy refused to give ID.
The police officer threatened him with a ticket I'm sure he didn't want to lose money as the court will make him pay even if innocent
Aggravated extortion and a terrorist threat.
@Shannon Cox
I believe that if this cyclist wouldn't have had a camera he might very well have been brutally attacked and possibly murdered as well, with the cop claiming that he was a threat to his safety.
Charge the cop for being a traitor to his oath to uphold the constitution if the judge and da refuse to try the case have them charged with treason providing aid and comfort to someone who is an enemy of the US by breaking his oath to uphold the constitution makes him a traitor
Cindy Benabderrahman evidence of the attempted robbery
I've learned so much about my rights involving police interaction from these videos, I appreciate the work you do! :)
Me too. And I had no idea how much my safety really depends on knowing what my rights are and how to exercise them effectively. I didn't know it was dangerous to talk to them. I thought they were just being nice. I didn't realize it was an interrogation technique. I had no clue.
@Sub if you are against Antifa and BLM Trust me I do practice my 2nd amendment. However, the only reason the 2nd amendment exists is to defend the 1st amendment, so I would have to say it's the second most important when it comes to the grand scheme of things.
@Sub if you are against Antifa and BLM 1st and 2nd are both foundational pillars of freedom, protecting each other as well as every other right; I don't really see it as fair or productive to try and say one is more important than the other
So have I! When I think of how I cowered to these assholes in the past, I could kick myself!
“Ohio is a stop and ID state, but in order to ask for identification, they need to suspect the person of committing a crime”
Wait...then it’s not a stop and ID state, right?
No. Stop-and-ID doesn’t mean they can ask you to identify at any time under any circumstance. It means a cop can ask you when he suspects you of something. In comparison, in a non-stop-and-ID state you don’t have to identify yourself in these instances, where the police just „investigates“ (I.e. cop thinks you’re shady, asks questions). You would have to be (IANAL, so this is just my understanding) arrested to actually be forced (if at all?) to identify yourself. So it seems to cover the area between „being stopped“ and „being arrested“. There can’t be a law for just asking for ID for no reason, as it seems to be unconstitutional, iiuc.
Again: no legal counsel, IANAL; research the specific laws of a specific state in question and/or consult a competent lawyer.
How the hell can a cop be THAT old and still not know what's in the constitution? Wasn't he there when it was signed? LOL
This is how the Rambo franchise started. He just wanted something to eat. 🤣
Can't teach an old dog new tricks. That cop has most likely been doing this to people for 30 years. Now with video cameras we get a chance to present our side of the story in interactions like this. What's sad is that this cop has probably been the mentor to many younger cops who learn this behavior and carry it out in the years to come. The cycle just continues.
Teach him to play dead.
More like 60 years.
These small town cops are bought and paid for.
Cable bill- and who teaches this cop when he was young O did I mentioned he is probably the chief my point being is there given the green light from the top. It needs to change.
This guy talks to much that's why I wouldn't sub
You need MORE on this Law, Bro. It seems to supercede others...
I recently returned home for my mother's passing. The police departments were full of people I haven't seen in years. I was engaged for a very minor offense (walking off the painted crosswalk) and resisted the crap. I was given a citation from a LEO "beating his chest". When I spoke to the Chief, I discovered we were in the same Scouting troop as teenagers (circa 1980). I retired from military service and he recently from Law Enforcement. He agreed it was frivolous as he was brought in and corrected, told my HS class, and reminded his time would be better spent pursuing true offenses. Word got out quick as I was never bothered again, albeit not habitually violating policies either.
“What is your name, where are you going, let’s see your ID....”
NAME: RAMBO, John J....

Damn I didn't see your post, thought the same thing...
"How does knowing my name/origin/destination help you determine if I am breaking the law or not, Officer?"

Not sure what "Millner's study" they are referring to at 4:19 is, but the footage they are showing is Stanley MILGRAM's study on obedience conducted in 1961.
The Entire Problem with US Police is that they Are Domineering. They expect a Respect that has never in my lifetime been earned.
Thank God that in the UK we are, in General, policed 'by consent', and that, again in General, we normal Citizens, that is to say Indigenous Citizens, have no fear of the Police whatsoever.
The Madness of Tony Blair, by which he encouraged Immigration of Foreign Cultures to this Country, was Unforgivable, and the Price we are paying today is evidence of that.
Muslims are predicted to be in the Majority in the UK by 2050, I am unashamed to be happy that I won't live to see that. I note Hindus and Muslims are fighting today, long may it continue

Noble Purpose corruption.. They believe that because they have good intent.. They are allowed, regardless of the law and the constitution, to violate the civil rights of citizens... "I am just trying to figure out what's going on... I am just trying to keep the community safe"
This dumbass wouldn't know if a bug was crawling up his ass!🤣😂🤣
After watching several similar videos, all done wonderfully btw, I don't think this many LEO's are truly ignorant of the extent of their authorities. They just assume we are and press until we either give in or they realize they can't break the citizen's resolve.
The number of cops who don't know or choose to ignore the law is frightening.
