Same thought for me too, IMO I think that cops should not be allowed to curse at the public, some police actually have it in their policies but police following policy is like a unicorn
I thought the same.
When a cop with multiple incidents of excessive force is still defended by his upper management, the entire department should be fired.

Not to mention it was stated he was promoted.
Why tf should the whole department get fired??? It should just be this cop and admin. Why should other good cops get penalized for one bad apple? What a stupid and ignorant comment.

The Cop should go to prison.
An aspirin. To a man exhibiting symptoms of a brain injury... Aspirin... Which is an anticoagulant. They should be charged with attempted murder.
The cop sould, the jail attendant should and the person behind the jail cell arraignment area should be disciplined. He saw that the guy was acting funny, and chose to just let it go to get him OUT of the system so the city would not me be on the hook for their damages.
The cops NEVER checked him for alcohol. He was technically operating a vehicle, and IF he was intoxicated that would have been DUI. They HAD the right and ability to do so regardless of the victims will to cooperate.
The jail attendant should have insisted he get checked out and again Had the right to do so regardless of the victim's' refusal. He was in custody, and the victim showed CLEAR medical issues.
the guy behind the grill knew something was wrong, the jail attendant KNEW AND POINTED OUT HE HAD HIT HIS HEAD!!!!! except HE had not hit his own head the cop had attacked him unreasonably.
This entire thing is just another reason to never go to texas, even if just passing through. IT also shows that the cop wanted to write SOMEBODY up for the accident....and used the poor, old grouch as HIS victim.
Edit: I responded quickly because what I saw was simply so egregious just impossible to take in ( even though I know it happens all too often in the US)
I would totally agree with the below F grade for the police dept, and for the cop I would actually have considered manslaughter. Moreso with his history, but just on the actions in this ONE incident.
I also think the family should hire an attorney to file a federal right violations suit.
I would very much like to thank Prado for NOT whitewashing this, and trying to do the official line and cover it up. The Police chief and the jail personnel should be CHARGED. This was NOT in their line of duty, nor should qualified immunity apply to this at all. They ignored his rights to the point he died from neglect while in that cities care.
I cannot comment on the city, because they do not seem to have reacted until WAY late in the process. I think their hiring of Prado was to put distance between them and the obvious criminal activity of the police THEY are responsible for.
Anyway, It is all a sad thing. Sad that the cop is a vicious killer, and that he was allowed to find a new home after discipline in Houston AND that the chief in dickerson covered up a killer's actions. ( and if they want to say...but but but it was an accident and the cop did not mean it. PFFT the guy on the bike was HIT by a car on accident...the cop was deliberate)
Absolutely.
He was indicted, so it is possible.

If we heard the old man say he was looking for his wallet, the cop most likely heard him say it too.
Cop could have simply took a couple of steps with him and then said we'll look for it in a minute.
I'm a retired cop and current full-time paramedic in Texas. When a paramedic is called to the scene, they become the on-scene commander. Considering the man's age and the nature of injury, (NOI), I would have done everything that I could do to get him to go to the hospital. These cops are a total insult to law enforcement and public servants.
The victim declined the FIRST offer for medical help, after the massive brain injury, I suspect a SECOND offer was never made. I think the cop lied and continued to pretend it was a simple DUI case, this explains why everyone else in the victim's chain-of-custody treated him as if they were just another DUI. This also protects the officer because less evidence would have been collected, there would be no blood draw and subsequent toxicology report, which could potentially prove the victim was sober. Charging the victim with a DUI not only ensured the rest of the department would look the other way (just another deadbeat DUI, who cares), it was the simplest, easiest, and least incriminating way the officer could cover everything up. It just took one lie, but that lie cost precious time for medical treatment and very likely caused the victim's death. Your thoughts?
This is sad. 👎👎

That struck me as rude and unprofessional. That was so out of left field and uncalled for because he got his big ego hurt for the man questioning his authority. There's no other job where you can talk to people like that.
And then the poor man DIED.
Exactly. The guy was just hit by a car. And could possibly be deaf. But nah, the cop couldn’t possibly just repeat himself louder & slower.
You let the driver go but harrass the innocent man who was HIT BY THE FUCKING CAR? What an unbelievable pos. RIP to this poor man, it broke my heart to watch him suffering when no one cared and to hear he died.
Someone is always going to die when the people hire a cop who quite apparently hates his job. If the subject was black they'd would have atleast brought up his criminal record. He should have complied.
It's because one of them was clearly impoverished. Cops, being the jackboots of the capitalist state they are, can't stand poverty as they view the poor as contemptuous and failures.
This is the level of competence you can expect from your Government.

The whole lot of them need to be held accountable! They killed a human being! Also , the judge needs to be held liable.
This is heartbreaking and absolutely horrific.
This is absolutely sickening . THIS IS MURDER. This was needless. He escalated this innocent situation. Just started cursing at him. Then the investigation was even more sickening. How can the citizens of this area be ok with this?
Citizens are perfectly OK with this, in fact this is what most of them want. Look at how many of them try to destroy Jeff Gray who is standing on the sidewalk with the sign "god bless".
Because so many "back the blue" idiot sheep exist and just blindly bend the knee to the badge.
This is how the police operate in every city in America. The fact the majority of the public still believe the police are there to protect and serve is beyond me. Even the Supreme Court ruled that police has no obligation to protect or to serve. Police are simply there to do the bidding of corrupt politicians and the entire system is setup to confiscate more money from We The People to keep Judges Cops and DAs employed at our expense.
What can the citizenry truly do? Lol, vote? The State has a monopoly on violence plus the near unlimited resources to back it up.....and there's not much if anything that can be done about except bend the knee.
They're not, they have no choice and or don't even know. There is zero accountability anywhere in America. Accountability is the EXTREME exception.
This cops ego couldn't handle the idea of two citizens mutually handling a situation without the need of a cop.
We seem this all the time with bad cops, they just want the power to exercise force legally.
That is a 100% fact.

From what I gather, the guy on a bike was hit by a car and therefore should have been treated with the sympathy of a victim but the cop treated him as if he was a non compliant suspect. I’m guessing because he looked homeless and police don’t have a lot of sympathy for their kind. “You’re taxes don’t pay my salary” lmao
And tried to use “public intoxication” as his excuse. Im a 100% believer that a cop will fuck your life up to keep himself employed for another day. It’s your life or his. Get a lawyer people.
Poor Mr. Scurlock. He gets hit by a pickup truck; that driver stops, apologizes, makes sure he's ok, and helps him fix his bike. Mr Scurlock forgives him and said it was just an accident. The driver leaves and the cops never even speak to him BUT they want to abuse Scurlock? Un-freaking-believable!!!
Whats even crazier. All these house thieves, have more rights, privileges, and protections. It took 1 woman nearly 6 months to have the government and police to try and arrest them and remove them. As soon as she tried to open her door to get the locksmith to change her locks. The thieves tried to break into her house while the cops watched and did nothing.

If a cop died months after an altercation that caused a head injury, they'd have gotten an autopsy "made to order" to support a manslaughter charge. The D.A. gets a 'C,' not a commendation.
