This is why I support disarming and defunding all law enforcement across the country. There is no integrity or accountability. Disarm and defund was the greatest gift the left tried to gives us. But no, we need to back the blue all the time. I don't support the king's men.

Let's take a moment to realize that the whole thing began by this cop trying to entrap an innocent citizen.
Its TOTALLY ENTRAPMENT, and most likely a setup by local PD to increase thier arrest rate as well as qualify for federal funds for "busting" a "drug trafficker". All of these cops should go to prison for a minimum of 20 years, with the assaulting officer getting 30 to life. Don't like the responsibilities? Dont take the job. Abuse of violent authority is a cancer on this nation.

What the hell was even about that too. If someone took the package into the house without checking who it was addressed to, would that have resulted in a search warrant for the house and an arrest on every occupant of the house??

I got pulled over on Thanksgiving years ago. Cop said my car smell like marijuana. I told him that I don't even smoke!
I hope the dog was still on-site and understood that despite the HARD WORK he just did, they still searched, and either 1. felt insulted and snubbed them 'til they were ousted, and/or 2. he rolled his eyes and thought "stupid humans."
The scary part is that even after they knew they messed up, they still were trying to charge him with anything just to cover their butts. NO INTEGRITY!! This is sickening!!!

That's why an army of them were able to sit outside the school in Uvalde as children were executed inside but nobody is going to jail for it. They are trained that once they go hands on they must charge you with something to cover their own behinds whether you are guilty or not.
And when it gets to court, cops have qualified immunity, will lie under oath, and everyone will believe their lies because cops are supposed to be trustworthy.

In 2009 I got stopped I told the police know they couldn't search they got a canine they made a false positive, then they searched all my new books and actually found a dime that was from high school 3 years before that. Boy I never seen a judge take my side like that and throw it out of court. Told the police that had no right to search my books and all that

I laughed when the k9 unit showed up, saw through the bullshit and just left. You could tell from his tone he wasn't going to give them anything and even went out of his way to have them shut the trunk

Let's stop to appreciate the fact that roughly 12-15 officers spent at least an entire day, and thousands of taxpayer dollars on a box of weed. Drones, snipers, and surveillance included. And they got to punch and innocent man and cost taxpayers even more when the lawsuits hit. I don't know what department this is, but they need to be dis-banded.
Not to mention the fact, that they planted the drugs on somebody's porch should be considered entrapment 😮

Suppose they just dropped it on my porch. Good odds that I would bring the package into the house without even really looking at it until I went to open it. Would that suddenly make me a dealer in the eyes of these cops? I just don't like this one bit.

So although I agree that the stop was was a waste because it was marijuana and the officers clearly conspired against him…. The rights of states are important to how we live and this department should not be disbanded because of this incident. We have to be careful with generalizing and vilifying entire police departments.

Police are so understaffed and most left, retired …. Due to no fund police….now not enough good cops, so they hire kicked outs from other locals for bad behavior and bad cops. I believe more funding at least 4 years specially formed academies for them…1 yr. Law, 1 yr. Constitution at Federal level. If graduated when hired to local or state…1 yr. The stats on laws in that area, fire arm training with safety coarse, deescalation techniques with public, 1 yr. Internship. If passes all than graduation complete and hired. But first and very first back ground checks on a national data base for all office holders that have info on said person previously!

Actually, its not quite what you said. Cops do leave, because they're either laid off after doing something crooked, or they're good cops who left from pressure or got fired for actually holding their fellows accountable, or maybe said good cops were disgusted with the system and wanted out.
Second, the police are OVERFUNDED, why do you think there's protests about defunding the police? Its the same issue with the military, but worse, because its one thing to significantly fund our armed forces, but its another thing to overfund the cops, who only ever really serve to protect corporate or political interests, with only the occasional decent cops doing their jobs right.
Lastly, the cops just arent given proper background checks or training, regardless of funding. They're just bodies in the grinder waiting to vent their egotism on an unwilling citizen, especially if the cop is white and their victim is non-white.
Now, is this to say cops are supervillains who scheme day and night? Well, no, but they ARE vastly corrupt to the core. The whole system needs to be burned down, purified, then rebuilt carefully so that a following police system isnt so broken and twisted. Unfortunately, given the racist and putrid history of this country, its a tall task either way.

We need to abolish qualified immunity, stop allowing internal investigations, and publicly audit are police forces instead of everything being behind the same curtain run by the people who benefit from the lies and dirty tactics. cops in the US are taught to commit and double down. If they start an interaction with intent to charge and jail, nothing will make them think twice no matter what. If it's a big fuck-up and their superior is smart, maybe they'd be forced to reconsider, but it's not the usual scenario; the superior must back up the decision of his cops as per gang mentallity.
But a question is how many times have this sort of illegal arrest happened in the past and the police got away with the illegal offense; of violating a citizen's rights and then looking for anything to hang their justification on?

Then again when they choked and punched me. Then again when the one officer illegally opened the trunk "for safety." Then again when they searched the rest of my vehicle, despite my express refusal of consent.

The cops are so infuriating they had no grounds whatsoever to search his car or even keep him detained after the dog didn't find anything. It's even worse that they get away it. I feel for anyone who goes through this type of hell with the PIGS.
I’ve seen this one. That cop deserves more than jail. They basically kidnapped this guy for doing nothing at all and attacked him, then after found out he did nothing, they still tried to go thru his car and make things up. All over a package that no one even took. Vile.
Apparently when you become a cop you are stripped of integrity and you receive an ego that does not allow criticism or introspection of any kind.
Even at the package had been inside the car. I get packages delivered to the wrong address all the time. And I return them to the post office or to FedEx and tell them to figure it out. So it's entirely possible if I saw a package addressed to somebody else on my porch, that I would pick it up and put it in the car to deliver it post office or FedEx. This happens several times a year where I live. So you pulled me out of the car over an unopened package oh, that doesn't have my name on it, and I'm going to see you in court and I'm going to have your badge. Along with everybody else involved in the decision to attempt to entrap Me by mailing f****** drugs to my house. Not to mention you put at risk everyone at that house. What if there are children there, and you mailed drugs to my house. That act alone right there is enough for me to come after you and buddy I will have the best lawyers in the business I'm going to eat you alive

All lawsuits against police are paid for out of officers involved retirement accounts and then these instances will cease.
Qualified immunity needs to exist for them to do their jobs, otherwise they would never take any risks that may be necessary to prevent crime. The education of officers is what needs to be addressed. They spend a mere 6 months at the academy (sometimes less) before they are let loose to make all these mistakes. In other countries officers have 1-2 years at the academy.
This wasn’t a traffic stop. They didn’t stop him for not using a blinker. They stopped him for something they planted and thought he had and they were wrong. All of this, the package, the steak out, the arrest for weed. Makes defund the police sound reasonable.
But think of it this way, perhaps if they only had a little more training and funding they'd have been able to concoct a crime to charge that guy with. Ehh? Maybe we should be giving them more money so they can be more effective? If we just raise taxes enough and employ more cops, we be able to make virtually every citizen a wage slave or an actual slave in prison. Something to think about.

Not really. Possession is a crime. A package was mailed to his house containing contrband. If he opened that package, he would be in possesion. The issue in this situation was the fact that he did not touch the package, but the officers thought he had. The stop was unlawful because probable cause was not clear. Getting contraband delivered to your house may be criminal, but if it was done without your knowlwdge, it is not. The sting was setup to determine if he was aware of the delivery and if he would take possesion of it. If so, then a stop would have been lawful. Poor communication resulted in a bungled sting, and the cops wanted to salvage it. That's no excuse for violating the man's rights.

I had a minor drug charge in 2000. 2012 rolls around, and I got pulled over for the first time in 12 years because I had a tail light out. They asked for consent to search, which I refused, citing they have zero reason to believe I'm carrying anything. They called in the dog, got zero hits, searched my car anyways, and then sent me off with a $10 seat belt ticket out of spite because they simply could not admit they were wrong. The kicker is, my tail light wasn't even out. He then said it was flickering when I went over bumps, which it wasn't. If cops could admit they made a mistake, problems would go down and respect would go up. They just can't seem to own the mistake until someone makes them own it
