@@skeleton_master. Which is very unlikely. For some reason, Mojang doesn't like to recognise their own mistakes.
I think that a simple solution would be to have a separate slider in your volume options for "Redstone components" -- separate from general blocks and jukebox/note blocks. That way not only the old sounds can stay but be as muffled as the player wants, it'd also quiet down things like dispenser/dropper clicks, lever flicks, etc.
If they need another slider to balance the menu visually then maybe a "Minecart" volume slider, separating them from the passive mob category.
There, fixed your problem.

unfortunately Microsoft aren't interested in making Minecraft a good game so they will continue doing the opposite of what everyone wants until everyone stops playing
That idea is actually worse. You cannot develop a new mechanic to change the "new sound" to an older version. What about lag? And It doesn't make much of a sense when you think redstone machines are big and complicated and waxing all the components are not possible in thight spaces etc etc. Much better option would be a resource pack that has all of the old textures and sounds in it which included in base game (we have that).

Why dont they just add a sound volum for pistons that you can increase or decrease in settings?
I gotta say I've worked with eletronics and the old sound was just right, thinking about the size of the minecraft piston its logical for it to be loud, and also the sound was realistic as it resembles the piston head hitting the end of its extension with a short woosh sound that resembles air being released.
The new piston sound however sounds more like a very small piston, it sounds just like one of these cheap plastic solenoid pistons that are used for eletronic lock car doors, and it just sounds wrong to hear that comming from such a big unit that is the minecraft piston.
