    There are many ways to paint a bunch of doors. We each have our own favorite methods.
    Here is a new system I've been doing on my jobsite.
    One improvement that can be done with this method is, attaching blocks to the bottom of each door to keep them off the floor and protect the bottom edges. Make blocks thinner than the door slightly, and nail on with a finish nailer....
    You can lean many, many doors against each other with only the wood blocks touching. They can all dry this way and can even be moved without messing up the wet paint. * This system is more suited for lightweight doors instead of solid core or fire doors. It can still be done with heavy doors... if you attach blocks to the bottom, you can "walk" the doors to their drying spot.
    In this video, I'm spraying Kelly Moore Durapoxy satin. It's a great waterborne door, trim, and cabinet paint. It's durable, dries relatively fast, and has a nice soft shine .
    Thank you for watching and thank you for your support!
    It means everything to me, to reach folks who are interested in painting, and not just looking for another person's every flaw.
    I'm a residential painter working for a small company in Bremerton, Washington. My intent is to represent professional painters. To teach and learn from others. To converse with others to raise awareness for trade standards, and to raise our own standards.
    I want to reach clients, builders, painters, diyers, realtors, designers, to just say, "This is what I do, and I try my best." I take my work seriously even though I try to have fun.
    Video and pictures, and sharing, is an outlet for me as well. I like what I do, and like sharing what I can.
    DON'T FORGET to like, share and Subscribe if you liked this video!!

    Great idea with the blocks and stacking the doors. Takes care of the limited space issue for leaning doors against wall. I can’t wait to give it a go.

      Awesome. I've been attaching little blocks (that do not stick over the edges) to the right and left side on bottom to help protect the door edges

    The best system so far. I have tried the stir sticks method even making my own custom ones 12"-18" long and have had problems with attaching them etc.

    love the finish on the doors even after one coat. going to be painting 6 doors primed white. Using a graco x5 I have two tips 415 and 515. asked Graco what tip to use to get a fine finish, using there ff line of tips they said I'd have to rplace the orange guard to blue, but really asked what paint I would be using. any suggestions as to what
    to use or what you used on the video. thanks again.

    • @XCPainter
      @XCPainter  2 года назад

      Yeah, I'd either go with 411 if you want to use your current housing, or go 410fflp with the blue housing Rac X and 1400- 1500 psi pressure maybe more depending on product.
      Don't forget to thin and mix, if you use oil primer.

      JCS, but then there can be problems with the occasional spitting from the extension unless using Cleanshot valve and with that another piece to clean.

    How long are the blocks that you attach to the tops of the doors? 8 inches or so? Are you using screws to attach? Thanks! Great method.

    • @XCPainter
      @XCPainter  3 года назад

      Thanks the blocks work well anything in over 5- 6 inches... 7 - 8 is great 😄 sometimes I predrill a bunch of blocks and can use either method screws or nails.

    When u do, let’s say an interior of a home or a room ,how do you charge a customer? . Let’s say a normal room is $400 do you include the material in that price or that is separately. Not counting the paint.. I’m talking about your tape,plastic,etc.. do u have a video teaching this method.. thank You for sharing your videos..

    Try screwing a 5 gal stir stick on top of door then leaning that against wall. It will keep door far enough away from wall that you can spray both sides at same time and not have to handle wet doors.also put them under doors to prevent sticking to floor.

    • @XCPainter
      @XCPainter  5 лет назад +1

      Congo Bongo Thanks for the tip. I've done that plenty if times. But spraying 19 doors in one room that is all painted? I'd have doors everywhere and overspray everywhere.

    • @Mowers11
      @Mowers11 5 лет назад +2

      I have also tried the whole stir sticks (1 & 2) at the top thing and can tell you that there were many problems with that system. XC is on to something here. Stay tuned

    • @congobongo7259

      That’s great for hollow core or fairly light doors and if your work area is small. Try moving a bunch of 9’ solid mdf door that weigh about 150 lbs each. I do a lot of new construction custom homes and doors are generally hung with dummy hinges so we can spray swinging and carpenter puts finish hardware later. For smaller jobs with limited space I will definitely try this system. I am on a home right now with 70 Solid knotty alder doors and fortunately we can leave doors hanging and finish in place.Keep up the good work

    • @WordAboveAll
      @WordAboveAll 5 лет назад

      Congo Bongo I have done that a few times in the past but I stopped because I thought nobody else does it so it must not be a good idea lol! Maybe I'll start again.
      what about caulking with the doors on? u just caulk up to the hinge? thanks.

    • @congobongo7259
      @congobongo7259 5 лет назад

      WordAboveAll Yes, I will usually just caulk up to hinge unless the client specifically requests removing them first. But in my 22 years painting I don’t recall anyone ever asking me to do that.

    Great vid. I am starting out to spray my doors on site. I notice the FF410 tip. Can you explain why and the pressure your spraying at. I notice alot painters use a FF310. Is that because of the paint your using. Where I am its SW or Ben Moore or Behr if in a pinch at the big box store.

    • @XCPainter
      @XCPainter  2 года назад

      I use a 410 for the spread of the paint. It puts a slightly finer amount of paint across a slightly wider area. I use plenty of overlap in my spray pattern, for eveness and coverage without piling up the paint (causing orangepeel)... a skinnier tip shows spray patterns easier and puts more paint on per square inch... little less forgiving

    • @XCPainter
      @XCPainter  2 года назад

      Pressure for graco fflp, I run around 1400. For Titan purple sc6+ tip, I run 1800-2000 psi

    • @Website-Developer
      @Website-Developer 5 лет назад +2

      Spray them while on the hinges. I personally trained all my spray techs how to do this while using a shield, That way theres no liability on the contractor and no handling of the 8 and 9 ft doors. Its tricky but once you learn you will be glad you did

    • @XCPainter
      @XCPainter  3 года назад +1

      I would stand them up seperately in a room I believe. You can attach blocks to the bottom to protect the bottom corners so you can move the during set up or after

  • @luke9822
    @luke9822 3 года назад +1

    Man, it looks like you're using a 110 tip and about 4-6 inches away from the door. It must be a wide angle lens trick of the eye.

    • @XCPainter
      @XCPainter  3 года назад

      Yeah probably kind of close to the surface... gets the paint on nice and wet, quickly. Using the 410

  • @RubenRyb66
    @RubenRyb66 3 года назад +1

    why not just set em up on 90 degree angle trusses in the living room and spray em all at once? I mean if you are gonna take the time to nail/screw in some wood in the top you might as well set em all up at once against each other. If you have enough room in the middle of the living room you dont have to worry about covering walls even with a proper compressed air sprayer

    • @XCPainter
      @XCPainter  3 года назад

      Because this route gives me many options on how many doors I can do in a limited space... most of these spec homes I was painting, had small living rooms but they were also filled with tools and sometimes other trades working. I had upstairs bedrooms, or the basement as a spray room area.... so also, i didn't even have to clean the whole floor (or several rooms) perfectly enough to set out and spray 17 -24 doors.
      I can sand them on the stack and spray them in one corner or wall of the room and stack them anywhere I need to. Also very handy when the carpet guys show up and either have to remove all the doors, or if they are stacked like this, they can move the doors out of the way, into an uncarpeted room like a bathroom, and the doors won't stick to themselves, etc. And there's no limit how many you can stack because the weight/pressure is not on the fresh paint. That's the 1st few reasons that come to mind
