    I was a painting contractor for 20 years. I quit in 2007 but just recently came back to painting, can't believe the freaking price of paint! Anyhow everyone has there own tricks and ways of doing things. But this is how I use to do ceilings also, I found for myself, it provided nice straight lines and I was a pretty good cut in man also, but I still rather mask off the walls even though its a pain. I recently saw a guy spray all of the ceilings first, then came back the next day and sprayed the walls wet 3/4 of the way up and had a guy following the spray back rolling and cutting in. I thought it turned out pretty good, the ceiling lines were pretty straight. He did get a little over spray on the ceilings here and there mainly in the hallways, but he just touched it up. Hey whatever works for you.

    I was going to paint ceiling then walls; after watching your video, I'm now strongly considering walls then ceiling. Had not thought it all the way through before watching your video to start spraying (because like I said, was planning on ceiling first). Now it makes logical sense that it would be easier to mask off the walls than the ceiling to make a clean break. Thanks!!!

  • @ryeweskey
    @ryeweskey Год назад +1

    Yup.. the speed at which you move and the distance you shoot from are all related to the size of tip orfice and fan combined with pressure from the machine. Takes a little bit to nail it down.. I'm still transitioning to a sprayer and just had a mishap in a room with some fresh start primer lol. I'm gonna need to do a little sanding and skim cost the runny areas lol. It was pretty bad. Pressure dialed way up. Was not moving fast enough and another mistake was not having ample lighting. I sprayed the ceiling. Sprayed the walls. The pulled my light up and everything looked really wet.. then about 10 minutes later I started noticing the runs haha... oh boy.. Basically the overlap shot from ceiling to wall was hit a little too much... haha. I bought some better tips FF LP with a smaller orfice and went ahead and primed the rest of the house with sprayer dialed up just enough to eliminate the tails on the sides of the spray fan and tried to move a little more. Worked out well. Lots of factors. You make it look easy in these videos haha... so really only one bad area in the house that I'll be working backwards in. Lesson learned.

If you dont and have a spray only finish the ceilings and walls cant be touched up after other trades eg electricians putting back the pot lights... doing it our way is almost as quick and any minor touch ups can be done with a tiny med roller

      Before painting the sealer and topcoat on the walls make sure any spots that will have tape applied, like at the ceiling line and around doors/trim, have been sanded well and dusted with a damp rag. Especially when square stopping plaster is involved. You want no dust in that corner at all.

If you're not the main training video guy for the major manufacturers or large painting companies....you dang sure should be!!!My brother-in-law said that when he worked for his contractor buddy he usta have to go in behind him and back roll or whatever... He said the rooms were like a total fog and you couldn't see sh*t right in front of you... Is that amount of fall out or whatever it's called off the ceiling be that heavy??? It sounded to me like he should have tuned down his pressure or wasn't moving fast enough or was running a really fat tip??? Right? I'm not seeing that fog in your videos???Or, can I add something to make it stick better??? You're the Jedi master so fill me in bro! Getting my extensions and 512 / 312 tips... Might grab one of these 12(12?) or 12 (13?) tips you use to hit the ceilings in your video's. After I botch up my house and have paint sprayed friggin everywhere... I'm probably gonna wanting to kick you in the took-us for making this look so easy!....cause I know it is not!!! With acrylic can I just fill a few 5 gallon buckets with hot water and a few drops of Joy to blast it threw the gun/hose/pump... and will that make it clean enough to complete a couple day job... Then at the end completely disasimble before putting it to bed until the next project??? Just a light coat of gun oil for the resting period will do, correct. Thanks, Dave-O!

      What if theres a touch up on ceiling after everything is completed. If you touch it with a brush and roll it wouldnt it not match cause you sprayed it only?

    Hey Chris, the ceiling of my dinning room is already painted with a very dark red color. If I want to repaint it to white, what prep work should I do before spraying primer?

    I’m having a really hard time getting the paint to look even on my ceiling…it’s a smooth ceiling (no texture). There’s a big window so there’s lots of natural light. I’ve given it several coats and it does look better than it did at first but still not even, I feel like I’m going through a lot of paint…any tips?

    The title mentions Graco, but in the video the sprayer in the garage looks like the Titan 1140 you were using in the previous videos. Did you swap it out for some reason?
