But I genuinely would like to own this Ioniq 5, or whatever the N Vision 74 will be like in production (if it ever gets there, still cool regardless). Hyundai and Genesis have been killing it lately to be honest.
Great job on the video Marques! Thanks for making it.
How is this "not the fastest charging car"??? What the hell is faster? This is Taycan territory
Yeah he's way off. Unless he's taking into consideration Chinese EV's, which I don't think he is, the Korean 800v cars are some of, if not the fastest charging vehicles available to Americans.
@@N1rOx the funny thing is that in China there are or at least were limitations on charging speed ruled by the government. This is why most Chinese EVs charge really slow.
Well... Xpeng G9 can charge at 400kW 🤷
@@clensbol for that car I can only find 260kw up to 300kw on the top spec. But it also doesn't matter because that's basically going to be every 800v car soon. Look at what Lucid is doing in terms of charging. Most cars from China are dog slow charging

I've tested this car twice because it's just such an insane car. The whole thing is something that everyone needs to test to actually understand how much fun it is to drive. If I had the money I'd buy one today, without hesitation
Agreed, I own one and am really happy with it. I would take this over my fathers C8 corvette any day. Its luxury when you want it and a super car when you want it, and a full size SUV.
The visibility is better than any other car I have driven and that is really important to me also.

I've driven two Model 3's (one LR and one performance) probably 3 years ago and I was bored in both. I don't know how anyone can find an EV appealing and fun to drive. One dude says he'll take the N over a C8 any day....man I'd take a BRZ, hell even a Miata over this.
Porsche, BMW and even Ferrari should be embarrassed they are not doing this before Hyundai. Aren't they the one that bank on driving feel/enjoyment?
Hyundai/KIA are really making some of the most interesting "German" design vehicles.
Technically it makes sense Hyundai moves towards EV in full capacity and makes all oriented cars as they can. When their ICE cars have tons of problems that they still can't solve till this day. Moving to EV solves that problem by miles. Meanwhile, German cars are still packing ICE because they still desirable. I think they have nothing to worry about.
Yes and no...the Former BMW M Development Lead Mr. Biermann did this at Hyundai.
@@josefv-y8m your forgetting a ford performance guy too, gotta give credit to Tyrone Johnson
BMW has been an embarrassment for the past 20 years lol, so I'm not surprised at all tbh.
Yeah except at the end of the day all the imitation is behind a Hyundai. They are quite possibly the least reliable cheap vehicles out there.
Want a sound mode that imitates a playing card in the spokes of a bicycle
I want a mode that sounds like a 5 year old imitating a car
That’s so specific 😂
Did you get this from Engineering Explained?
i miss that sound
Here I thought they’d all sound like the jetsons
Fun fact: the manual seats are so that you can sit lower. And still have heated *and* ventilated seats. Esp the latter turned out to a lot better then I expected, and it was a nice touch while I sat next to Misha on the Nurbürgring
I saw you 😊
Rob Dahm got to drive this on track at Leguna Seca, and the 'N' driving dynamics along with the design (suspension, aero, etc.), seemed to make a big difference. Even the sound for that additional feedback lol. The designer even mentioned that they use the brake regen system to help control body roll weight transfer, so it's cool they are still putting as much N racing DNA into an EV as possible.
You always put together great reviews. I think Hyundai and Kia have done an incredible job of seeing EVs as an opportunity to re-imagine why their brands exist. They'll be rewarded handsomely in the long run if they keep it up. Laggards will pay a steep price.
Wow I am really impressed by the cup holders.
Love it! Wife has an Ioniq6 and it's such a fun car to drive. This has gotta be even better.
MKBHD really out here saying IONIQ 5 is not a fast charging car lol
He's living off of his reputation. His reviews are lazy and barely graze the surface and it's not surprising to find him saying inaccurate things occasionally (or maybe more frequently than that). Doesn't matter tho, his followers will gobble up everything he says and not question him since he's a popular influencer meaning the majority of his followers are dumb.
@@trstnhn Then WHY are you here if that's the case??!!
@@nycplayboy78 professional hating is a full time job
@@nycplayboy78 probably to see the car I my self came to see clips on the car and not the guy. Even then before discussing something, research should be done. For example, Hyundai charges from 10% to 80% in 18 minutes. How do I know? Besides reading about it on their website, I own the car and have experienced the fast charging. Typically, I plug it in and leave before Chevy EUV, BMW i4, and Mach GT. I’ve also driven my brother’s Tesla Model Y, which takes 30-40 minutes to reach 80%. Hyundai definitely excels in fast charging, especially with the 350 charge ports. Even with the 150, it manages to hit up to 200 watts. It’s crucial to thoroughly research charging times. So yeah the review is lacking on some research on what he discussed.

This car actually can have a niche of enthusiasts unlike a lot of other cars that other companies make just for the sake of staying in conversation.
Fun fact! The N division at Hyundai was run by the former head of BMW's M Division, Albert Biermann from 2015-2022. He's retired but stayed on as a technical advisor. He's the reason why Hyundai has serious performance creds these days.

electric cars having speakers to sound like gas cars have been a thing for decades. I remember a Top Gear episode showing one back when that show still existed.
I think new hyundais look like concept cars from the 80's or 90's and i mean that as a compliment
As a hardcore Hyundai/Kia hater, this converts me.
I can’t lie. This is the one that got me.
I'm a big fan of the Ioniq 5N. My EV6 GT is it's sister car (which I do prefer the looks and features like the HUD that aren't in the US-spec I5N). But the tech in the Ioniq 5N to get it to simulate a gas vehicle experience is pretty neat. That said, I'm not sure how much I'd use it.
See Marques' smile while talking about the imitating gas car feature? That feature is made purely to make you smile, just like that, and I love when technology designers do that for you.
What they should do is make a marketplace where people can get tuned cars. Would be sick if you can download the F40 and have your sound gearbox and engine handle like that.
It's wild that they put so much work into that sound only to have it audibly quantize when revved stationary. It sounds great when it's moving, idk how they botched that one aspect.
I've fallen in love with this car during the last couple of weeks. It's really cool, great performance (not great range though) and some pretty cool, extra features.
A set of 19" wheels will see a decent boost in range. Definitely handy for a road trip or winter
The Ioniq 5 including the N charges faster than cars that cost twice as much as
it. It's certainly in the top tier of charging even without considering price.
I've had my eyes on the Ioniq 5N since they announced it. Really hoped the range was a bit more, but I think it's worth it.
If you haven’t already please make a video about charge ports and charging stations etc. also in every EV review this should be talked about.

That is exactly what petrol heads dont want: Fake exhaust and engine sounds.

SRSLY.... $69,000? I get it with the hp & acceleration numbers this thing is putting out, but it IS a Hyundai. Plus they seem to be targeting a younger/fun demo with this. A demo that could def. not afford a $70k car. You can get a brand new Porsche 718 Cayman or BMW M3 for that!
@yankees6970 But can any of those meet the sheer practicality and versatility of this car? And again, this car's true competitors are in the six-figure margins. The audio thing could seem just for aesthetic purposes but here in the EU we are currently discussing about the implementation of features like that to emulate the sound signals that gas cars emit and on which drivers rely in their every-day life. It may be an unconscious thing for your brain, but I have actually traveled in front of a Tesla on a highway and I swear, if it wasn't for my obsession of looking at the rear mirrors I wouldn't have noticed that the car was actually proceeding to surpass me. Meanwhile every OEM spends millions of dollars on NVH to make their gas cars quieter. Now they’re spending money on making EVs noisier 😂😂😂😂
ICE cars are regulated to be quieter on the outside, but most popular brands would pipe in sound in salon either acustic or digital (Ford uses speakers).
the fake gear shifts would go harder in the IONIQ 6 coupe, they should also let you emulate classic car sounds - give us LFA sounds for sub 60k and it would be fun enough to consider

Marques misspoke when you said at 3:17 "car doesn't charge that fast". It's faster than the Tesla at 10~80% in ~18 minutes. A washroom break, coffee/fast food stop and you should be all set (given you can find a charging station...still need to work on the infrastructure but it's coming along). For most, if you have a charger at home, that would cover the majority of your daily commutes. You can have your gasoline/ICE SUV or minivans for your road trips..
