    Great channel! I work at Glacier Factory Finishes here in Montana and we also have issues with the SW ultra deep base. Straining all of our paint has been helpful, so has properly mixing our paints. Scraping the bottoms of 5 gallon buckets with a stir stick, along with drilling the paint with agitators has proved useful! Paint life keep rockin it!

    Thank you so much for your videos. I've been watching for over a year getting up my courage to paint my two story apartment myself. Thanks to your videos I was able to do the prep work prior to starting and to use the sprayer (with the PSI that worked best). Sadly, because I was on top of a 25 foot ladder, I was unable to get clean starts and stops at logical places, but all turned out beautifully. Thanks again.

    I am a retired city and guilds served painter and decorator. When I served my apprenticeship rollers were not ever used. All ceilings and walls were done with a 9in paint brush from a metal bucket . When rollers came along I was very sectibal although as they improved I took to better licking to them as they made life so much easier and I earnt far more money. I am still called upon to do the odd decorating job now and again although I can be far more choosy. I have never been in the world of spraying although it seems to be the next trend. I have bought myself a Wagner 150m 300w diy airless paint sprayer 230v (UK) as it was less expensive to see if I take to it .So l will watch you with interest

    The sputtering problem you described at the end is common with oil based paints that have been sitting past the manufacture date for a long time. We use oil base all the time in line striping and even the cans that are only a few months old sometimes need 4-5 full cups of toluene, even after been shaken in a commercial machine. Even after all that like you said some paint is just crap and will not spray

    I'm currently wall painting. Paint consumption is very high.

  • @chipcook6646
    @chipcook6646 2 дня назад

    Most paints are strained very good at the factory. However, if it left outside for a certain amount of time the sun can dry the material on the inside the bucket. In which you have to strain. It all depends on how the material was stored until you brought it. Every paint should be strain but …..
    Bird cages are also good on some jobs.

    The reasons for the paint being dirty is because the easiest way for paint companies to meet all of the new VOC restrictions they removed all of the things that keep paint from drying inside the bucket. If you remember the old gallons used to have a semi-clear liquid at the top when they were left out, unshaken for a few days. I cant remember what it is called but removing it was the easiest way for them to meet the compliance without having to reformulate all of the colors per product. If you think about adding emulsabond, the paint color doesnt change. Same concept. They removed the additive that wouldnt change the color. I used to work for SW and it was explained to me by one of my reps. Basically they took the good stuff out of the paint, because it was cheaper.

I am spraying Kilz original as I am using BM advanced. I’ve tried all I feel I can try and still getting tails. Cleaned filter, cleaned inflow and outflow valves. First time using my Graco project painter plus today and the tip kept jamming up. I was spraying Magnolia Home cabinet paint in the color Loyalty Blue by Sherwin Williams. I wanted to use emerald urethane or the Valspar equivalent but I couldn’t find any of it. Once I cleared it it would spray fine for about 30 seconds and then jam up again. I didn’t strain the paint so I wonder if that’s what it is.

    I have a grace 495 spray machine and use the green 312 fine finish tips for trim and like how to covers and never clogs. When I use a 310 tip my gun keeps getting clog or the gun isn’t able to spray the paint. I use a 60 filter on the gun and manifold. Do you know what the problem would be?
    If I use the 60-80 filter on the manifold and 100 filter on the gun will that make the paint go threw while using the 310 tips or even a 208 tip.

    Can you talk about the rubber/metal washer inside the nozzle that cradles the tip. I have one nozzle where this washer just falls out. Other nozzles seem to hold it in firm. Are they a universal size? Thanks

    Can I get the whip in the UK? I sprayed 1900 sq foot 5 bed house today and I think the whip would help me with tight spaces and less fatigue on my wrist

    What would you recommend for a small spray rig and tip for spraying water based polyurethane concrete sealers? I'm sick of getting roller lines showing in cured sealer and want to try spraying for a fine even finish

    I’m a DIY’er and I’m starting to get into the spray game. Do you leave your tips in thinner at all times when you’re not using them?

    I am looking for a good sprayer for multiple purposes, very interested in the Titan 440 since watching a bunch of your videos. I want to be able to spray cabinets and an exterior of a house when needed. Would you use this to spray cabinets with the right setup (tips, gun, pressure)?

    Does it matter which direction you spray? Left-right? Up -down?

    Hey Chris, where did you get your spray test paper holder and paper? I’m looking for something a little smaller that I can take with me to my jobs, thanks!
