    Brilliant and informative the information about the orifice size in the seat will be a great guide for new sprayers I fell foul of this myself when I first started spraying as all new bits of equipment came with a blue 5.17 tip and large orifice seat in the guard so when I used a FFLP tip I had spits all the time and couldn’t understand why thanks again brother for another great video. 👍🏻

    Hi Pete, I love your videos. I’m learning so much thank you. I’ve just bought a Greco ultra quick shot and plan to spray paint a 3 story staircase, spindles /banister. I’m new to this and I’m trying to figure out the best tip to use.. my research has lead me to an FFLP 208 for control and to minimise overspray. Would you agree? Also, is there a primer that you would recommend that I could spray prior to topcoat? Many thanks. 🙏

      @PaintHQ  5 дней назад +1

      Hello my friend, thanks for your kind words of support 🙏 Great news on your investment, you’re spot on with your thinking - an FFLP 208 is a good choice for most materials (viscosity).. Scuff-X for example will spray very nice 👌 What top coat are you thinking of using my friend?.. I try to match (not always) the top coat to primer, so Scuff-X would be BM Stix 👍👍 In my videos, you may see me using a lot of AkzoNobel high build primer (099 I believe is the latest code), great on mdf and new timbers 👍 keep in touch.. regards Pete

      Hi Allan.. Ah great news 🙏 Yes my friend, I can confirm the AkzoNobel primer / edge sealer and enamel topcoat will spray through a .006 such as an FFLP 206 👍 ..In fact it’s AkzoNobel I’m spraying in the FFLP 106 demonstration - 900 psi.. I’m using the blue 100 mesh filter successfully too.. if plagued with tip blockages, .006 tips are recommended to be paired with the red 200 mesh filters (check your gun / pump compatibility - I recall you having a GXFF but don’t recall which gun..
      Like I say, blue 100 mesh should be fine, just strain your paint, especially if the can is starting to get a bit ‘old’
      All the best my friend.. you’re doing great! 🙏💙💯

    • @PaintHQ

      That’s a good question.. Yes, I’d change it when a tip is worn and you’re replacing that tip.. and/or if you start to get spits and ‘leaks’ from the tip / guard.. it’s kind of tricky because you use multiple tips with the one guard, I probably don’t change the seat / seal as often as I should 😄 all the best buddy.. regards Pete 💙💯

      You’re so kind, thank you for watching and providing your feedback 🙏 I don’t all that often change the seat / seal - only if I’m getting an ‘unusual’ spit, and or leak from the tip guard.. look to change the seat / seal when replacing a tip.. although one tip guard will serve many airless tips, that’s ok.. as for when to replace the tip - look out for signs of wear, a narrower / more oval fan, a heavier coat (more fluid passes as the orifice gets bigger) - you could start to notice you’re using more paint than you’d expected 👍 Regards Pete 💙💯

    Hi Pete, thanks for your videos and information. I am a beginner DIY sprayer and after my first ever spray job I had a few issues which I would be grateful for your advice and knowledge to help me improve for my next project. FYI I have a Graco GX21 with a FF hopper kit. I also got the Sprayman filter manifold recommended in one of your other videos.
    When spraying the doors i was using Bedec aqua advance with a 308 tip. I got the spray pattern satisfactory with no tails but whilst spraying after a minute or so tails started to appear and I had to increase the pressure to remove them. If I remember correctly I started at about 1900 PSI and had to go to about 2200 PSI halfway through spraying both doors. I also had lots of paint runs which I expect was my technique and set up. Would you be able to share where I went wrong?
    Many thanks Andy.

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  7 месяцев назад

      Hi Andy, I appreciate you watching the videos - and it’s great to hear from a ‘beginner’ / DIY sprayer as you say 🙏 I have to say you’ve invested in a very nice Graco setup from SpraymanUK 👏👏👏 I’ve not sprayed Bedec Aqua Advance but I have Bedec MSP (it’s a decent product).. my first instinct is to think you would be better with a .010 such as a 310, as it’s a product that can be brushed / rolled, plus your working pressure sounds a little higher than I’d expect at 1900 psi - ‘golden’ rule of airless spraying, if the pressure is getting high thsn you’d expect and the fan pattern is not really improving.. go up an orifice size.. so a .008 to a .010.. however if I recall Bedec MSP went through a .008 and i was using the HH so pressure wasn’t all that high (somewhere around speed 5-7).. also you mention tails appearing and you had to up the pressure further.. makes me think your filters could be clogged.. have you removed the small onboard filter that comes with the GX21?.. if not, remove that and stick to your SpraymanUK manifold filter.. also check your manifold filter and gun filters are clean.. then strain your paint into the hopper - get some fruit and veg bags, they cost very little from Aldi, Asda (and Lidl I think).. or get a pack if Trimaco net filters, but they take a bit of stretching onto the hopper - they will go on.. then try again with your 308 - I would have thought you would be around 1200 - 1500 max, so if your at 1900 psi again - up your tip size to a 310 (I think you got a 310 with you FF hopper kit).. then I’d expect you to be somewhere around 1200 - 1500.. regarding getting runs - check your distance (12” away) and up your speed, then watch areas you pass over more than twice.. any thoughts you have a heavy coat, leave it and don’t spray the area gain until it’s flashed off.. Hope this helps 👍 keep in touch my friend, would love to hear how you get on and progress on your spraying journey.. regards Pete 💙💯

      Hey buddy.. thanks for your support and your question.. Alkyd paints that are hybrid / water based - so still a water cleanup, then no my friend, no grounding of the UltraMax / Ultra QuickShot or any of the cordless units 👍 You only need to ground these units, if the materiel is solvent / oil based, that wood require a thinner / white spirit / denatured alcohol / gun wash to flush and clean the unit 👍 hope this helps, keep in touch 🙏 regards Pete 💙💯

    You probably haven’t used gallery, trim, and cabinet paint from Sherwin-Williams yet. But it is a high viscosity paint. Do you think I could use a 206 tip through a Grayco airless sprayer for that paint?

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  7 месяцев назад

      Hi Brian, I have heard of it, but only via social media with Sherwin-Williams being so popular (and big) in the US.. Unfortunately here in the UK, Sherwin-Williams is pretty much not available.. I would very much suspect, it wouldn’t go through a .006 orifice, being higher viscosity as you describe.. you may have success with .008, so a 208, 308 and the new FFLP 408 can be useful 👍 Great to hear from you my friend 🙏 regards Pete 💙💯

    Hi Pete, I watched your video. and wanted to ask … the Neon LP tips do they take the larger tip seal? That are for the PAA production tips. Reason for asking when I bought clean shot it came packaged with a Neon LP tip and seal and the larger tip seat was installed.
    In your vid the I think you show a neon 517 but looks like the standard seat for the fflp.
    I rang sprayman Uk and tips are packaged with the correct seal. That’s fine but my clean shot came with a neon 517 Lp with larger seat installed.
    They said that would be correct. And as a rule, he said don’t quote me but anything smaller than 12thou would take the smaller /standard seat.
    I wondered what your take on it was?
    Steve.

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  2 месяца назад

      Hi Steve.. my apologies for the delayed response, I appreciate you watching the video 🙏 I’ve just checked a packaged Neon LP 517 and LP 515 and they both have the smaller orifice seat and seal in the packaging.. I’m thinking your CleanShot has the tip guard with the larger orifice seat and seal installed because the CleanShot used to come with a PAA 517 - at least mine did, when purchased some years ago. Now both would be valid and spray emulsion / latex material without any noticeable ‘issues’.. A ‘problem’ / spit could occur if switching out the tip to an FFLP and the tip guard has the larger orifice seat / seal - especially if you was spraying low viscosity material.. me personally I stick to a tip guard with a smaller orifice seat and seal installed, spraying with FFLP tips and Neon LP tips - mostly using a 515, 517, 619 👍 Hope this helps my friend.. keep in touch 🙏 Regards Pete 💙💯

    What size/No is better for ceiling and wall

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  26 дней назад +1

      Good question, typically a LP 517 or a LP 515 for walls. An LP 515 is good for beginners, if the emulsion / latex paint isn’t too thick, you’ll get a bit more control.. an LP 517 is better for thicker emulsions.. then for ceilings, medium to large in size - an LP 619 is great for wider passes and applying a nice coating 👌 hope this helps, regards Pete 💙💯

    Excellent video pete i have just got a graco quick shot and want to spray scuff xx on domestics with a 208 tip. My question is what is the best ratio when thinning scuff xx and is this the ideal tip to use for less overspray. Thanks john

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  7 месяцев назад +1

      Hi John, thanks for watching and your kind feedback.. firstly I don’t typically look to thin when airless spraying fine finishes, only when spraying walls / ceiling’s I’ll ease the flow of thicker emulsions and latex paints.. Because Scuff-X can also be brushed and rolled, a .010 might be more suitable - try the 410 that comes with the UQS as a ‘test’, look to spray at the lowest possible setting to atomise paint fully.. then try the 208 and see how the pressure setting compares.. basically don’t over pressurise the UQS. But yes, the FFLP 208 (and 308) are great tips, 2 of my favourites 👍
      I know Benjamin Moore do a paint conditioner, BM Extender that would help and improve the sprayability of Scuff-X.. otherwise Scuff-X sprays very well - I will see if I can run some tests and provide more info on this 👍 hope this helps a little, happy to help if I can.. let me know how you get on 🙏 regards Pete 💙💯

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  6 месяцев назад

      Hi Kevin.. I’d be confident that the majority if not all seats will be the smaller orifice for LP and FFLP tips.. it’s only if you’ve purchased the blue PAA tips that it would come with a bigger orifice seat - or in the past you’ve purchased a CleanShot or JetRoller and it came with a blue PAA tip - then again the seat will be a bigger orifice.. each purchase of an LP and FFLP will come with a correct (smaller orifice) seat and seal.. so I’d be confident your collection of seats / seals would be correct for LP and FFLP tips 👍 hope I’ve explained properly 😩 regards Pete 💙💯

    • @PaintHQ
      @PaintHQ  7 месяцев назад +2

      Hello my friend.. Sure, the Ultra QuickShot gun has a standard 7/8” thread, so would take a TriTech Tip Guard.. Just be aware, TriTech airless spray tips (Ultra and Contractor) are not low pressure by design - so the UQS would be working hard or worse still, the max working pressure of 138 bar / 2000 psi could be insufficient to atomise effectively.. I’d personally stick to Graco FFLP tips 👍 Hope this helps my friend, happy to help and advise if I can.. regards Pete

    Scenario:Ive got 100 cars/vans that need to be painted in low viscosity military paint,what airless machine will do these 10-15 minute per vehicle paint jobs?

      That’s an interesting scenario 🤔 Maybe an AAA setup, spraying low viscosity material with a very high level of finish, so combining quality and speed (and material savings).. AAA often an industrial fine finishing setup…

      @pseintp1621 Great, sounds an interesting and exciting idea 👏👏👏 Just straight airless, a nice unit with its inbuilt hopper is the GXFF (GX19 in North America), perfectly capable of spraying an airless fine finish using solvent or WB materials 👍 Keep in touch.. regards Pete

      @@PaintHQ 😂 im doing mighty fine. Just bought me a FFLP 310 TIP to spray doors tomorrow & you educated me on how to install it, but it's a little stiff after i screwed it on. there's friction and stiffness when removing and adjusting the tip now
